[Haunter is carrying the 'gear, apparently. Following diligently after its trainer like some shaky-cam show cameraman. Haunter's claws are visible around the edges of the camera frame. While they both chase a Torracat through the tall grass just outside Goldenrod.]

[A Torracat who is engaging in epic battle with a Nidoran♀.]

[They don't get there in time. The battle ends, with Torracat victorious. And... a flash of light. Which clears to reveal...]

[Incineroar.]

[Silence. Except for, you know, Incineroar bellowing in glee. Shiro just. Slowly looks over at the camera. With the camera turning to look at him in return.]

No, the silliness usually dies down after awhile. I think Polo's excited right now because he's never seen another Incineroar that wasn't his brother.

I hope you've got something big on your team, then, or the Incineroar is going to want to wrestle with you.

[As both Polo and Magellan do whenever Krieg visits.]

Do they really like each other that much? She's never seemed to care all that much about finding another Litten... or Torracat.

[Then again, none of the others really seemed that into it either.]

[He nods over his shoulder, where the bulk of his Aggron is flopped into a patch of sand. Idly rolling and ignoring the flexing muscle cat.]

Magellan and Polo do. But we got their eggs at the same time, and they hatched on the same day, so they've spent their whole lives together. They're basically brothers.

[Polo and Magellan didn't develop their love for flexing and posing until they evolved to Incineroars, but they've always had a friendly competition going between them. Maybe it's just from being raised side by side.]

[Jean admires the giant, craggy beast, who doesn't seem to care in the slightest about the gun show going on around him.]

What is that, anyway? I haven't seen one like that before.

[He glances over at the Aggron too, smiling a bit. Of course Kuro doesn't care about the gun show. A nap is more important. He's too much like his trainer to worry about muscles and flexing.]

He's an Aggron -- named him Kuro. [Because this guy is a terrible nicknamer.] I've had him since I got here.

No, Armin is my friend from home.

[Oh yeah, that's right, the Incineroars are named after explorers. Jean forgets that sometimes. At some point, he should probably learn what this Polo guy's first name was, but eh, that can wait for another day.]

He looks pretty tough. [Not at the moment, certainly, but he looks like he could be tough, if properly motivated.] Was he your starter?

Yeah? Good -- I'm glad he's got people he knows here. He seems like he could use it.

[Even if Armin seems like he could also take care of himself. That's a separate thing there.]

[He nods -- to both statement and question.] He can be, when we're in a battle. And yeah, he was. Still the best guy to have at your side.

Nah, Armin can take care of himself, especially with all the giant Pokemon he's been collecting.

It's funny, isn't it, how someone manages to choose the exact right Pokemon to be our starters? Mine was one of the more uncommon Pokemon, but he's great. He's exactly what I needed.

That's true -- he does seem to attract the big ones, huh?

He sure does. We're eventually heading back to the Sevii Islands so he can get his whale out again.

I had a Voltorb. Those are the ones that look like Pokeballs but are alive and full of electricity. Want to see him?

[Oh, what's that? Did someone mention Electrodes? Blitz is just going to come charging over and bump into Jean's legs, buzzing and crackling with excitement.]

[Sorry, Shiro, you get to see another Electrode, this one noticeably smaller than Krieg's and glowering up at Jean's communicator.]

[Would Shiro like a shocking demonstration? Blitz lets some electricity crackle invitingly over his surface; he can shock Jean if Shiro wants to see it!]

Spark Ball shocks Krieg all the time because it makes him laugh. And also because Spark Ball is kind of a dick.

Good to know. Just in case one of those guys ends up in my lineup.

... why am I not even remotely surprised being electrocuted just makes Krieg laugh?

He really is. He's one of the first friends I made here.

Yeah. Armin is still a little scared of him but Krieg would never hurt him.
