Summary: Just a general catch-all for Vanitas messing around in Goldenrod

[Closed to Rockets - At the base]

[While he hadn't initially planned on checking in, because a part of him wanted to see how much he could push his luck, Vantias does end up stopping at the Team Rocket base as soon as he gets to Goldenrod. He'll be there for a few days giving him time to report in, touch base with some individuals and just relax in the comfort of a free bed.

In particular he'll be raiding the kitchens because why should he buy a whole bunch of food on the road when he can just eat lightly then stuff his face at base?

Or you may find him snooping around trying to get a look at all the captive Pokemon. Just to see what's there. It's not like he'd ever try to take anything.

He'll be on the lookout for some familiar faces, as well, both to chat and to cause trouble. Because he can.]

[Open Prompt - Catching a new dog]

Wrecker, use Water Gun.

[Standing at the mouth of an alley, Vanitas lazily watched as his Totodile darted forward and let out a watery blast at the Houndour growling at the other end. The canine managed to dodge and counterattack with Bite though it missed it's mark as well.

The young man rolled his eyes and pulled another Pokeball from his belt, tossing it up into the air. With a faint click it broke open and in a flash of light Vanitas's Haunter appeared, Shadow snickering and flexing it's claws.]

Shadow, use Confuse Ray! Wrecker, use Water Gun again!

[Both were quick to respond, though a little too quick on the Totodile's part because he went first rather than waiting for the Confuse Ray. Shadow, who had already been moving forward to attack, gets hit with the attack instead and whirls around angrily, giving their Houndour opponent a chance to bolt past them.]

DAMMIT!

[Vanitas glared at his Pokemon before recalling them both, releasing Flood and Scrapper instead as he headed after the Houndour.]

Come on you two. I want that dog.

[Closed to Madoka]

[Vanitas was no stranger to stealing Pokemon. He'd taken quite a liking to it which was good since that was his job essentially. Most of the Pokemon he stole he ended up sending back to Team Rocket but every now and then one would catch his eye.

This time, it's an Eevee.

He'd been tailing a young girl for awhile now, wandering along acting as if he were window shopping, all the while keeping tabs on the girl and her Eevee. Flood was, of course, drifting along beside him, giggling up a storm since she knew what he was up to.

Looks like they were going to end up with a new teammate~

After a half hour of following the girl around Vanitas finally decided to make a move, putting on his charm--well, the charm he copied from Sora as much as it disgusted him--and approached. A seemingly genuine smile was on his lips as he stepped around Madoka and lifted a hand in greeting.]

Hi--ah, is there any chance you could help me? I've gotten kind of lost. This is my first time visiting the city.

[There was a sheepish edge to his voice as he rubbed the back of his neck, Flood sitting on his shoulder now and waving happily.]

[Sure he'd looked through the Pokedex a bit but he really only focused on the Pokemon that looked intriguing to him.

Clearly Espurr hadn't been important.]

And does it always look terrified?

What, Petey? He's an Espurr.

[Diana looks down at Petey, frowning.]

Terrified?

[The Pokemon turns its head to look up at her for a moment with its large, unblinking eyes, then returns to looking ahead. He starts tapping out a beat on the table.]

I've never seen Petey scared of anything.

[She gives a shrug.] But he's just... special. I don't think they're all like him.

[Right. Special.

Vanitas looks from Diana to Petey and back again, not really convinced the strange little thing wasn't just in a perpetual state of fear.

But hey, as long as she loved him.]

If you say so. [A pause.] Is that one you got from Team Rocket? Because my Woobat is really special. I'm pretty sure they gave me a defective Pokemon.

[Diana rolls her eyes and taps the Espurr's head three times. It turns to look at her.]

Hey, Petey. Are you scared?

[He blinks at her.] Petey. Scared? [She points at him, then clenches both her fists, shaking them before making her fingers burst out and pulling an expression of a silent scream.

Petey blinks at her again before giving a single shake of his head and returning to patting out a beat.

Diana looks back at Vanitas, satisfied.] Nar, he's not scared.

[Then she shakes her head and points down at the Salazzle.] No, Sass here was from Team Rocket. Her and Strut. [She prods the Murkrow sat on the table in his chest and he squawks.]

[Vanitas snorts at the display, unable to help but grin a bit. The thing was really weird but it was kind of amusing all the same.]

What's with the tapping?

[Probably has to do with the whole special thing.

His gaze went from Sass to Strut and he frowned ~~it's totally almost a pout~~.]

I got a Phantump and then my stupid Woobat. I feel like I got seriously screwed over with one of those.

That's pretty. [Diana shrugs with a small smirk.] I told you, he's special.

[Strut hops closer and tilts his head curiously at Vanitas.]

Really? Why?

Definitely something special.

[Vanitas glances at Strut, watching the bird with a bored expression.]

Because my Woobat is a wimp and the stupid thing needs love to evolve. I'm pretty sure someone thought it'd just be hilarious to give me something like that.

[At that the Murkrow appears to laugh at him.

Diana chuckles before stroking the top of her Sylveon's head.]

Isla needed something like that too.

[Vanitas just rolls his eyes at the Murkrow, turning his attention on Isla.]

She evolves from Eevee, right?

[Now that is one fluffy thing he had done some research on.]

Mmhmm.

[She continues petting the Pokemon affectionately and it gives a chirp.]

I've had her for ages. Then one day, poof. All grown up and pretty as fuck.

So she loves you a lot or something, right? Isn't that how you get the creepy flesh bows?

[It was just a little weird, okay. Cool, but weird.]

I want an Eevee. Haven't found one in the wild yet.

She better with how much I spoil her.

[Isla gives an affirming cry and wraps a tendril around Diana's arm, who seems unfazed. You get used to it pretty quick.]

Everyone I've talked to says they got it as an egg. Have you tried buying one?

No, I haven't seen anyone offer any Eevees up. [He frowns.] Actually I did see one guy but they were claimed pretty fast.

Guess you'll just have to keep looking, hun.

...Don't call me hun. That's weird.

Aww, you don't like nicknames?

No. Nicknames are stupid.

[Something people do with their friends.]

Don't be so boring, Vanny.

Vanny Vanny Vanny!

[It's Flood that decides to interject with the sing-songy repeat of the nickname, the Phantump twirling about in the air as she giggles up a storm.

Vanitas just gives her a dry look before turning it on Daina as well.]

I hate you.

Oh no! Vanny hates me.

[She smirks as Caine makes a rumbling noise that sounds a lot like a chuckle.]

[Vanitas scoffed and threw a grape at Diana which only made Flood giggle more.]

You're an asshole--all of you are, actually.

[Strut swoops and catches the grape midair. Landing beside Diana and gulping it down before giving a smug 'caw' and puffing out his chest.]

Yep, we're the best.

Whatever helps you sleep at night.

[But he can't help but smirk some.

Maybe she's not all that bad.]

I don't sleep at night. I just wait up and think up new nicknames for people.
