[Today's video comes courtesy not of Ryner, but of Rose, his Clefairy, sporting her usual rose earclip and a warm, fluffy scarf, bright pink with some little glittery silver dots of embroidery on there.

She waves at the camera, and... well, usually she'd have signs, but she's got a certain intended audience today (and maybe doesn't want to leave behind physical evidence), so she'll just be talking in Pokespeak.]

Hi! I'm Rose, and I've got a question for all of the other Pokemon out there.

See, Mister Sion - one of my dear partner's best person friends - he's really sad. Really, really sad. And apparently he's scared of a fake that I think lives inside his head the same way my dear partner has one that he said isn't there anymore, even though he shouldn't be afraid of any fakes. If any fakes showed up, they'd have to get past all of us first! The fake wouldn't stand a chance!

[...Rose looks very proud of herself, even though she really has no idea how little she understands the situation.]

But he doesn't get that he has nothing to worry about, and so he's scared and sad, and hitting him to distract him doesn't work the same way that it does with my dear partner, and besides I've been told not to? So I want to know how to make him not sad anymore. Because he shouldn't be sad.

How would you do it? Do you have something you do to help your trainers not be sad anymore when they are?

What are you doing?

Asking how to help Mister Sion not be sad anymore.

[She won't leave evidence for the people in the house, but it's fine if Dusk knows.]

*Dusk cocks her head at that*

You think someone will know?

I don't know, but someone might. And if there's a chance, I want to at least try.

[Ceilidh's knack back home - her magical ability - was being able to understand and speak with animals. The ability translated over to this world and pokemon. It was the only ability that did.

Knowing Sion a little...it makes her curious enough to answer, even if she's not quite the intended audience.]

Fakes can be scary. Especially if they look like you. They might kidnap you and take your place and live your life and you'll be somewhere else and maybe even DEAD!

[It's kinda hard to tell if she's trying to be comforting or not. Ernest at least. She then gets a bit more somber.]

But for making people not sad. That's hard. You can find things they like to do and do it with them. You can keep them company. Sometimes that's just want they need. Sitting with them. Just being there. Or distract them...

[ The Pokemon who answers is none other than Wisdom the Xatu. Eileen the Audino is beside her, nodding to Rose with a gentle smile. Wisdom's eyes twinkle red for a moment before she speaks. ]

A fake who eats away at the mind is a very dangerous thing. My trainer has a being lodged in his head - on weekends when reality becomes a revolving door, it walks in. He fears it all year, even when the door is locked shut. We cannot convince him of his safety.

[ Eileen shyly touched Wisdom's shoulder, speaking to Rose ]

We try to take care of him. When he is sad, we take him outside to breathe and walk, or sit with him. He enjoys dancing and drawing too, and training us. It doesn't stop him from worrying about it, but it helps distract him for a little while.

[Rife the Absol and Mideel the Vaporeon are the first visible Pokemon when the response comes, the latter watching the 'gear through lidded eyes while the former has her head tilted in thought.]

..Cissnei likes to do puzzles when she's upset. She says it helps her focus on something else. She also likes to go on walks.

[The Vaporeon nods, spotted tail thumping against the ground as Rife looks at the 'gear now.]

We all like to go with her on walks, to protect her and be there for her. I'm not very good at puzzles though..

[The Absol looks a bit sheepish, ducking her head as Mideel reaches a paw out to pat her slightly.

Poor clumsy Absol.]

[A small Phanpy listens very attentively to the message. In part because he's the sort to want to make everybody happy, but also in part because Rose is quite the lovely lady and Atticus just has a crush on every girl.

For a moment, he rubs his own chin with his little trunk looking almost comically thoughtful, before he pipes up, very bright, cheery and childlike. Because he is still a very young Phanpy.]

I think you should give him a gift! Maybe a nice rock. Everybody likes nice rocks! Then he'll cheer up and smile again.

[Somewhere in the back of her mind, Rose has, of course, known that there are rare people out there who can understand Pokemon. Somehow she didn't plan for that, though... But she can roll with this.]

He wouldn't be dead! We'd beat the fake before that could happen! We've faced Lance and the champion dragons and won, a fake would stand no chance!

[...Rose, Lance is nothing compared to the Hero...]

And my dear partner has always been spending a lot of time with him, and it doesn't do anything.

Distracting him and staying with him is all my dear partner knows how to try, though, and it hasn't done anything to help.

Walking with him wouldn't be very different from what everyone always does. I'm not sure what his opinion on puzzles is, though... He likes to read a lot though.

I don't think anyone's tried that yet for Mister Sion. And Saias is really good at finding really nice shiny rocks...

Who's Lance and the champion dragons?

[She chews on her lip briefly, not exactly sure how to explain changlings to a pokemon... a fairy pokemon at that. Or if she should... "There's these fairies that steal humans..."]

Hum... well... sometimes people are just... sad because they're sad... like... something inside of them is just really hurt. It's not anything other people do but... it's like something in their head that's ... working not right.

One of my uncles is like that. He had something horrible happen to him and now he's just really... sad and has trouble being with people.

[Mostly because something horrible, like torture and other fun things leeching at his soul trying to devour it by one of the evilest things in Ceilidh's world, happened to him for about forty years...]

[She just doesn't want Ryner to know she's doing this, mostly. She wants it to be a surprise.]

Lance is the Champion of the Elite Four, and his partners are a lot of dragons! They're really tough, but we battled them and won. And there were six of them. So one fake wouldn't stand a chance against all of us!

[...Rose please...

She does headtilt (so much as a pink thing can) with some concern at mention of the uncle, though.]

Your uncle was hurt, and now he's sad too?

[fortunately, Ceilidh won't be telling him.... at least she's not planning on it.]

[She has no idea what that means. She's guessing dragon type pokemon... from the term partners.]

But would you be able to tell the fake from the real one?

[Aww... now the hard part. It's hard talking about her uncle Dara. It's complicate so much and hurt her family so much.]

Yes. He wasn't physically hurt but ... well... I mean... he was physically hurt and he was hurt in his heart and his soul... and now its hard for him to find things to be happy about because all the bad memories keep on taking over. Like a shadow over the happiness.

[Atticus nods enthusiastically, his trunk flopping.]

See, see! And you could get him a berry too! A really nice tasting one. And uh. Maybe a flower.

[Who cares that humans are sort of fragile and cannot eat pokemon berries, certainly not Atticus. He gives his trainer berries all the time and he's very happy with them.]

[It's an Electrode looming up in the screen, rolling so close to the communicator that his face completely fills it, making him look oversized and (in his mind) intimidating. Is this action deliberate? Of course it is.]

Electricity.

Zap him a few times, and he'll forget to be sad.

[The first to respond is a Weavile, feeling all classy with a teacup in his claws. He sips the tea, then speaks in a pretentious accent. Seems someone's still too stubborn to use his native tongue.]

Personally, I would recommend looking for someone whose expertise is the psychological. A Psychic type could work, actually, seeing how delving into the depths of the mind falls into their domain. This does seem like a purely mental setback, and-

[He's cut off abruptly by a Charizard, who scoops him up and sets him aside. No weird speech tricks here. Just plain ol' Charizard grunting.]

Some trainers are stubborn. I guess the real question is how long this has been going on. How often does he get all depressed? And are there any times where he isn't down in the dumps?

Our trainer also devotes his time to training. Perhaps you could encourage yours to do that, or to travel?

[ Wsidom's eyes widened for a moment, as if seeing something new. ]

With a friend, the voice is a whisper. Alone, it roars. Company is a comfort. Unless it's bad company. Then you should remove the bad company and find good company.

[She's oblivious to any intimidation attempts, mostly because she just figures cameras can be hard, but good try.]

Mmm, that wouldn't work though. He's too used to electricity because of the lightning magic my dear partner and me are trying to remake.

Fakes are really obvious and mean. [She sage nods at her own statement.

The story about your uncle makes her frown though.]

That's awful! Is there any way to keep the bad memories away?

We don't travel a lot anymore, ever since Mister Sion and my dear partner bought the house. And they have to stay around so the gym can be open.

[Still, she seems to be considering it. And the latter half gets her to tilt her head (...self?) in contemplation.]

So... you're saying that even if my dear partner being there for Mister Sion doesn't do much, he'd be sadder if he was alone, so that's still helping?

A cake with lots of berries and flowers, just for him!

[She seems super excited about this idea. ...Until it dawns on her who the most logical choice to ask for help with this would be, but she makes a recovery attempt.]

I'm sure I could ask someone other than Marian about that...

He told my dear partner about it a couple months ago when they were having an argument. And the way things sounded, it's probably been going on longer than that, I'd guess? Probably at least a couple of years, since that morning Mister Sion ran away for a while and we all had to chase after him.

He acts happy around everyone all the time, though, so if it's been going on for that long, he's been really good at hiding it.

...I guess I could ask Lafra, he's a psychic type, but my dear partner wasn't happy at all after I asked him for help last time.

[ Wisdom nodded. ]

If he is good company. Our trainer does not do well with just anyone. It takes special people. If your dear partner is special to Sion, he is helping by being with him.

[ Eileen smiled and nodded happily, holding her paws together. ]

Yes! Humans do well when they're together with people and Pokemon they trust. Our trainer is very solemn but with us and his friends, he smiles and has laughed! I know some people think he would never laugh.
