I'm afraid I'm addressing the network out of need for some help.

[Lust has debated about doing this, but...well...it's for the best.]

I've recently come into...let's call it a rescue Pokemon. An Electrike, to be specific. I've no idea what the poor thing's been through, but he looks a bit battered and he's quite distrustful and rather frightened in general. Even of my other Pokemon.

I'm afraid I've no idea how to help, I've never been through this before. I'm loathe to even let it out of it's ball, it just seems so terrified and upset. I want to help, of course, but I'm afraid I'm out of my depth.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't have Toni in her Pokeball ever if I can help it. She's claustrophobic about it.

But yeh, she's kinda scared of other Pokemon too. But she gets along with my other dogs so I just let her hang around them and just check in.

If she's with The Pack she'll let some of my other, smaller Pokemon near her now which is good. Still scared of people though, sometimes doesn't want me near.

[A sad, but somewhat familiar story.]

That sounds a bit like how my Carvanha was when I first got her. She was one of the Pokemon that had been held captive by Team Rocket in that basement. So she was understandably very distrusting of people.

I'm not sure if any of this will work. It worked for Nemesis, but I've never had to try this on another Pokemon. Mr Newt gave me a lot of good advice, so you might try asking him as well.

Uhm, at first, because she was so wary of other humans and Pokemon, I really only let her out of her Pokeball if we were alone. She's a water Pokemon, so I'd find some quiet stream away from everyone else, let her out and just sit by the water and let her come to me. To be honest, at first, she never even got close. She'd keep as much water between us as possible. I know some people suggest putting food near you so the Pokemon has a reason to associate you with good things, but I didn't want to do that. She was already so thin and I didn't want to make eating stressful for her.

It's hard to say. But normally Electrikes live in grassy areas, don't they? Maybe a place like that will help calm him down? It might hold good memories for him.

[HELLO SAD ELECTRIC TYPE Jean is HERE for this!]

[... while pointedly not looking at the beautiful woman who asked for help.
]

Do you have another electric type who is nice and chill? Sometimes, letting them out of their Pokeball around another Pokemon who is calm and good-natured can be really helpful.

[Hello, did someone call for a chill electric type? Sassycheeks the Pikachu pops up over Jean's shoulder, trilling a happy chuuuu at the pretty lady.]

Oh, that's probably not going to work then.

It doesn't have to be an electric type. Just something calm and good-natured would be a good bet. Maybe even something that's weak to electricity, so he doesn't feel threatened by it.

I, uh...

[Boy, this is familiar. Not only did he have a skittish Pokemon, but it's also an Electrike. Hooooo boy. Let's think, here...]

My Manectric used to be exactly like that. It... took what felt like ages for him to become comfortable around my other Pokemon, let alone me.

Yeah... He still growls and sparks at my Houndoom when I try to see how he's doing with the others. I brought him along for a gym battle once too, but that was only after he started showing interest in it.

[But it's still progress.]

Do you have any Pokemon that he's not so wary around?

I don't have any experience with a skittish Pokemon... the closest I have is a Marowak that was left to me. But he's more of a ... crybaby... than what it sounds like you're dealing with.

Do you have any pokemon who have a calming ability?

[That definitely paints the picture in a different light.]

If he hasn't replied already, maybe I could get you in contact with my friend Krieg. He's got a pokemon in a very similar situation.

[Granted sometimes it's hard to get coherent commentary out of him, but for this, Shiro figures Krieg will make himself manage.]

Those are the little pink ones, right? Maybe that's a good place to start. Something clearly nonthreatening.

Aw, poor baby!

Maybe like, find a nice quiet room, put some toys and stuff in it, then when you let it out just sit there and chill so it can take it's time?

Sorry since I'm more the loud and aggressive type I'm not the best for this advice but...maybe?

Food is always a good option. Maybe put some food in the room?

Now we're talking. What kinda place? A garden? A basement workshop? Maybe a slick little cafe hidden in the back alley of some big city?

It would probably be best to allow the Pokemon a place that is theirs and theirs alone to start, when you initially let them out that is. Rather than letting them out in an area with other people or Pokemon, do it in a room that's closed off and quiet that has areas where they can hide if that's what they decide they want to do and don't, by any means, try to force them out. I saw you mention that to Diana that he seems quite a bit nervous when you let him out but more exposure is the best way to start acclimating it to being in a safe environment.

[Hello, Lust. Meet Newt Scamander. This sort of thing is what he does for a living so don't mind him as he rambles rather than properly introducing himself at first.]

From there you can try to introduce him to Pokemon of a similar type or even just a Pokemon that is very gentle in nature and easy going with others. A relaxing presence that can help them relax in turn.

[He pauses then scowls at himself briefly.]

It--the most important thing is to make sure to make yourself seem as non-threatening as possible. Sit on the floor while in the room with him--keep low and make yourself seem as small as you can. Move slowly and speak softly. Anything you can do to put it at ease.

[He manages a slight smile but this situation really isn't one to smile about.]

If I can do anything else to assist you please don't hesitate to contact me.

[From off screen comes an almost scolding sounding twill and Newt glances over then back to Lust looking sheepish.]

Ah, yes. My apologies. My name is Newt Scamander. Where I come from I'm what they call a Magizoologist. I study magical creatures and care for them so this sort of thing is what I'm use to doing.

Mmm. If you've got any psychic Pokemon, they might be able to help. To talk to it a little better, help it understand that it's safe?

It sounds a lot like my Pawniard. I rescued her during that whole. Prom thing, with Team Rocket. It took a long time for her to do much besides hide.
