I WAS TOLD BUGS EVOLVED FAST BUT I DIDN'T THINK IT'D BE THIS FAST.

[Not that he's complaining, really. It seems Kato evolved not too long ago. Great! An hour afterwards, a video appears. It's Britt, recording himself with a shaky camera, huddling in the tall grass and whispering to the Pokegear]

...I thought it was time I got another one. Look at you bunch, getting more Pokemon like three hours after arriving into this world.

[He says, as if he wouldn't have done the same if he had the money to raise a Pokemon that wasn't as easy to take care of as his Weedle]

Now I got enough cash to do the same. Just behind the grass we have our target. [He takes something from the ground. That sure is a big cocoon] I think this guy here wants me to let it do its thing, but when we tried to fight earlier all it would do was harden a lot, and I sure am not gonna go and bash creatures with him. No way.

[He peers the camera over the tall grass. That's surely a male Nidoran, who doesn't seem to be in a hurry to move somewhere else anytime soon. Looks like there's time for action]

I need a plan. Any ideas?

[Gaige has, for the past week or so, been setting out on a trip to the Ruins of Alph without much in the way of broadcasting, but certain circumstances had brought her to needing the advice of the people, and so a video transmission pops up on the network.]

OKAY, hi - hi guys, it's me, your gal Gaige, etcetera, etcetera-

[She rushes through her usual routine to a shaky camera, and a loud crying in the background.]

So, you know those new Pokemon that started showing up? The ones terrified of, like, everything...? Turns out loud noises and explosions and basically EVERYTHING that makes me me comes under that.

[The camera shifts slightly as she tries to balance her 'Gear and something blue, amphibious, and crying in her arm. From what can be seen from Gaige's face, she looks tired, and trying really hard not to panic.]

It's been...uh, I don't even know - it feels like hours since he started crying? I can't get him to stop. [A weighted exhale, and the sobbing newt in her arms just accentuates her point.] I really want him to stop. I just, you know, babies aren't really my ball park? Kind of never really planned this kind of thing. I only ever anticipated robot children! I'm way too young to be a mother!

[Her voice raises in distress, which only makes the baby more upset. It's a vicious cycle.]

Look, some of you guys have got to have experience with this kind of thing, right? You gotta help me out here.

Now that's a pretty good haul, if I do say so myself.

[Hey everyone, remember that weird kid complaining about not being a bird anymore? Seems like she's mellowed out a bit and decided to use the video feature this time around, though instead of a video of herself, the gear is instead turned towards a trio of pokemon, near what seems to be the shore of the lake surrounding the Sprout Tower in Violet City, close to the Pokemon Center.

The first is a Skrelp, who seems to be enjoying showing off for the camera; zipping from side to side in the shallows of the lake, puffing out its chest and shooting out small bursts of Water Gun like... well. A water gun. The second is a Ralts, standing a bit away from the shore. If it had fingers it would clearly be wringing its little hands with the way it seems to be fretting frowning and reaching out towards the third pokemon in this little group; a Trapinch, which seems to be chewing happily on... a Bellsprout?? No, not a real Bellsprout... it looks like one of those tacky tourist souvenirs, the kind that will wiggle around like they were dancing if you leave them in the sun or play music close to them. This poor little dancing Bellsprout seems to be the former, if the way the toy still pathetically wiggling in the Trapinch's jaws is anything to go by.

It's an interesting trio, and if the way Lena is giggling behind the camera is anything to go by, she's pretty happy with them.]

I gotta say, though... those ruins outside of Violet City were kind of a bust, aren't they? I mean, alphabet soup monsters? Nnnnnot really my idea of spooky ruin-dwellers. I've heard of way worse.

[Webby talked her ear off about Toth-ra, and there was all that stuff she put her to sleep with in regards to Scrooge's adventures, so when she and Demyx decided to take a day trip into the ruins, she was expecting... well. Something like that. Like, actual monster-looking things.]

So are ruins like this a thing here? They kinda seem... I dunno. Out of place.

Has everyone been encountering Pokémon that their 'gear can't register?

[Despite his initial hesitation due to his feeling worthless without his quirk, Shoto had finally made his way over to the Kanto Region to see what he could do to help.

He'd ended up on/around Cinnabar Island helping with clean-up and it was there that he had encountered...well...

The young man is wearing a green hoodie and he's got the hood up despite the fact that it's a pretty sunny day.]

I met one that I've never seen before and I can't find any information on. I don't even know what to call it yet.

[It's here that his hood shifts and Shoto leans his head to the side slightly, glancing to the side where the hood bows out as something starts to come into view. Wide eyes peer out and slowly but surely the Pokémon pokes it's head out just enough to get a good look at the odd thing Shoto is holding. It's definitely seen better days, it's fur messy and the poor thing having obviously been pretty soaked prior to meeting Shoto. It shivers every now and then as it presses close to the young man's head but this is much better than the state the little creature was in before.]

It's alright. [The young man says it softly, moving the 'gear closer.] It's a video. [The Pokémon makes a soft sound and ducks back into Shoto's hood a bit, earning a soft smile from the teen.] If anyone has any information, I'd appreciate it. Even if it's just a name. Anything would be better than nothing at this point.

NOBODY WARNED ME ABOUT THE EXPLODING PINECONES

[That message floats around. Looks like Britt has been walking around and trying to train his new partner. It's a work in progress, but he has found himself pleasantly surprised finding out Kato isn't defenseless. It's better than he expected!

Later, a video comes forth. Britt seems to be resting at the side of the path. Did he even get to a town at some point? Apparently he did, because to his side, Weedle is snacking on some of Botan's candy. He drew a map on paper, and is showing it]

So I'm sure you all heard about that plane crash. Weird stuff, huh? Apparently it's so weird it's not commonplace in this world. Something's up and I'm sure it's gonna be interesting. That's why I'll go to the areas nearby and try to find out.

[Out of curiosity, though. Britt isn't really an altruist guy, he wants to see what can be found out because he's curious, no more]

Look, it's a plane that appeared out of nowhere and had no passengers at all. You know what I think? It could be like how we were all brought here! Could be a plane from another world. Doesn't that make sense?

[It's a bit hard to put in words, but yeah, he thinks whatever brought everyone here could also have brought an empty plane. For some reason. An accident, most likely, cosmic forces can't be infallible!

Action

Pallet Town apparently is in an entirely different region, and Britt is still in Johto. All he managed to get to is to Route 27, because the map indicated that was the closest route towards Kanto. He had expected to find a bridge or anything, but there's no such a thing. And since this is Britt, he hasn't stumbled upon the ferry yet.

There's Britt, standing on a small cliff, with lots of water ahead and no way to cross it]

There has to be an easier way to do this.

[Could there be an explorer or anyone with as little common sense as Britt in the vicinity, perhaps?]

[The view on the 'gear screen is an awkward one, angled down and sideways at the floor where a rockruff and a furfrou are working together to open a large plastic tub of erasers and binder clips. Jack meant to audio broadcast.]

Y'know...y'know something 'bout this place?

It friggin sucks.

[The slurring and mumbling between words, not to mention the all around tone and tenor, are a clear indication that Handsome Jack Is Very Drunk. He's been keeping off the network, stewing in his own self pity and perceived betrayal and grief. But even in his darkest moods, he can only stay quiet for so long.]

I mean...I mean it really sucks. S'like...s'like some asshole that gives a kid a lollipop and then goes 'ha, no bitch, you can't have it after all!'. That's this friggin world. Makes ya think it's all cool and you're gonna...it's gonna be all cool. But it's not. Everybody all...all 'oh, this is such a great place, you can have a nice life...'

Bull. Shit.

Doesn't friggin matter. Cause I...y'know I tried. But nooooo. Can't just do my own thing and mind my own business, nope! And then...and then this place gotta fucking kick a guy when he's down...

[There's a long grown interrupted by a hiccup.]

Man I wanna burger....

[At this point one of Jack's Meowth has enough sense to turn off the broadcasting function. At least until Jack gets any messages and turns it back on....]

[With all these weird bodyswapping shenanigans happening, not only is Gaige glad she's been able to sit back unaffected and witness the chaos, but also to witness, well...

The video feed shows Krieg - or at least, Krieg's body - looking into a mirror. Nothing too weird, but then...he's flexing. He's watching himself flex.

From behind the camera, there's an incredibly stifled giggle from Gaige, trying her best to keep the camera steady and not get caught. She's trying really, really hard not to attract any attention, anything to keep this moment going for longer-

And then, he turns. He sees it.

And he screams.

Loud, high pitched, squeaky - all the things that Krieg should NOT be sounding like.

So, of course, it's shortly followed by Gaige losing all composure and breaking down into hysterics.]

Ahahahaha, oh my god! Oh - oh man - oh, this nerd! [A wheeze. She turns the camera to herself to spare Armin!Krieg any further embarrassment.] Krieg- hah! - Krieg, if you're out there, this one's for you. [Deep breaths. She wipes away a tear.] And for anyone else watching, you've seen history in the making. Discovered the impossible. You should - we should all feel really proud in this moment.

January 21st [Celadon City]

[Around late morning there will be a video from everyone's favorite friend Peter Venkman! He looks incredibly confused here. Not upset or anything, just confused. He idly looks at one of his hands while he holds the Pokegear at the other.]

Hi, this is Ray, I'm not entirely sure how this happened, but I guess I'm in Pete's body now? I got an electric shock a little bit ago and woke up in his body. I'm guessing this has something to do with that weird message I got early this morning.

I've never swapped bodies with anyone before, and this feels really weird! Not bad, but it's surreal to be in the body of someone you've known for years. It's almost as if someone heard me missing Pete and tried fixing it in a slightly misguided way!

Anyway, I've always wanted to see Kanto for myself I might as well take advantage of being here! I heard they have really cool Pokemon at the Game Corner and I wanna see if I can get a good look at them!

January 25th [Violet City]

[Later in the week another video pops up and- is that Egon smiling? While Egon is still very new here, anyone who's seen him in any capacities would know that he is seemingly never emotes.

... It's honestly a little unsettling how much he's grinning right now.]

Hey everyone, I gotta say this body swap thing is fascinating! I've always wondered about the transfer of consciousness and I've been wanting to run an experiment on if it could be possible, and having first hand evidence that it's possible is amazing! It's a shame I don't have a lab with me right now to perform experiments as to how these little guys are able to do this, but I think once this is all over I'm going to try catching a Rotom and see if I can replicate this!

Not to mention that if they can inhabit electronics like this, then that opens up a whole new world of possibilities for mechanics! I at least want to see if they would happily inhabit a robot body and then expand on other forms of electronics and robot bodies!

[Someone please shut him up.]

[The gear flickers on and there's a pissed off woman with blue hair glaring at the screen. She gets straight to the point.]

I'm looking for any vault hunters. If you don't know what that is, directions to a place that sells guns would be the next best thing. Whatever these creatures are here, they don't seem overly hostile yet, but I'm not taking any chances.

[There's a small cat like creature to her side. An Espurr that seems to be jumping up and down.]

I'm not sure what this thing is. But I'm starting to think it ate some Eridium at some point so I'm keeping it with me just in case.

[She glances over at the Espurr and shakes her head before looking back at the camera. Her tone seems to grow darker.]

Oh and the off chance there's someone out there who knows what exactly happened to my powers and might have even been responsible? Keep this in mind. I don't need them to kill you.

Oh, is this thing finally working? Wonderful!

[He holds up the PokéGear and sits up straight, crossing his legs and getting comfortable. He gestures to the scenery around him, which seems to be a ferry's deck.]

You know, I can't believe that this boat doesn't have sails! It's absolutely bonkers! Totally insane! Like, how the heck is this even possible?

[It's wild.]

Also, more importantly, what's up with the music constantly playing in the background? It's like this place wants me to break into song for literally no reason.

...Not that I ever really had any reasons for doing that before, but still. It's just going on and on and on and on.... How does this place expect me to sing for hours on end?

[The feed starts out... upside down, and then changes directions a few times as Galavant tilts the device around, squinting at it. He's actually on a ferry currently, and clearly just about bored out of his mind given the topic he's opted to spend his time worrying about. Never mind introducing himself or reading the manual or, y'know, something productive.]

Oh, what do you know. It works. [Fancy that!] Wonderful. Got a question. Super important.

Where would one go about purchasing a sword? Not that I don't think the dog's capable of maiming my enemies if needed. I mean, look at those teeth.

[He gestures with a hand towards the Bidoof sleeping near his feet. Yes. 'Dog'.]

But I'm really just looking for a good old-fashioned sword. I don't even know what happened to my last one. But I need one. Have you ever met a hero without a sword? Hm? A non-dead hero? No. You haven't. I really cannot stress the importance of this enough.

[The video flickers to life, and there's a young redhead leaning up against a bright red shell, throwing up a peace sign with a metal hand and the practiced familiarity of someone used to taking selfies.]

Hey guys, what's up. It's Gaige coming to you live from - [She looks around.] - Route...twenty nine? We're still on that? Ugh, I feel like we've been walking for hours! My arm's jamming up from the cold! What kind of place doesn't have fast travel?

[She looks up to Turtonator, face cut off from the screen, who gives a non-committal grunt in response.]

Right, a place that's not a post-capitalist wasteland and full of people trying to kill you everywhere.

[She sighs, and shifts herself to a more comfortable position.]

Sooo...quick update. I don't think we're in Pandora anymore, haha. I just woke up in somebody else's house with someone that is NOT my mom pushing me out of the door -I don't even know what's up with that - and then, then I'm just, thrown out to the cold and I can't even summon my bestest robot buddy! And I know that's not a problem with the digistruct console, I don't make...[A scoff, and she scrunches up her face.]...mistakes.

But! Good news! I've got this big guy with me! [The camera turns to Turtonator briefly, who waves back.] Check this out - his real, scientific name, is TURTONATOR! FREAKIN' TURTONATOR! AND HE BREATHES FIRE! Isn't that just the COOLEST. FREAKING. THING?

[She beams, Turtonator makes a coy grunt.]

Any of you guys out there got any cool dudes like him? Well not like him. You're not gonna get on that level so don't even try. But you get what I mean.

...Oh, and we're officially in the business of kicking monster butt now. So if you wanna line up and get it out of the way, come at me bros.

Log:

As night falls on the final day of an excellent beach prom adventure, the staff of Resort Gorgeous usher their guests out onto the beach for one last grand sight to top off the experience. Big, fluffy resort towels have been laid out for people and Pokemon alike to sit on, and locals are off to the sides, handling large and beautiful kites with incredible care. They come in all shapes and sizes, and each depicts a Pokemon you may have seen wandering the shores or swimming in the oceans during your time here. They're incredible works of art all on their own, and as the wind picks up, watching them lift off into the sky becomes an artistic experience in and of itself.

A hush falls over the gathered audience as the kites sail up, up, up into the sky. Small children begin to release lanterns that float up to join them, and the kites dance around them in practiced loops and twirls. In turn, they are illuminated from all angles, a play of shadow and color in the dark, starry night.

But as the show goes on, it starts to become apparent that starlight and lanterns... are not the only things lighting up the night sky.

Everything changed when the extra-dimensional beings attacked )

POKEMON PROM

Time to get your party on! After a wave of Pidgey-delivered invitations swept across Johto and Kanto alike, the day has finally arrived!

Sevii is stunning this time of year, when the temperatures are merely warm instead of scorching like they are midsummer, and the April showers have all blown up north to douse the main peninsula for awhile. And to be quite frank, as Resort Gorgeous comes glimmering up on the horizon with palm trees swaying in the breeze and the faint, musical honks of Wingull drifting overhead, it's clear that it deserves its name.

Lady Selphy herself greets everyone departing the ferries, offering detailed maps of the resort and schedules boasting the many activities and services available. Meanwhile, a small army of smartly-dressed staff will happily direct everyone with luggage to get all set up in the tents along the beach.

As soon as that's taken care of?

Well, what's everybody waiting for?

Go forth and have yourself a tropical little vacation!

So at what point is it okay to excuse something just because it's not "as bad" as something you might have experienced back in the world you come from?

Bad is bad, isn't it? Evil is evil?

Or are there some things that are okay to turn a blind eye to?
