50th treasure [text]
Does anyone here have any experience with video game porting and cross-platform gameplay?
I got a game from home last Christmas, but only one copy of the hardware. I'm getting sick of grinding and playing against the AI and my Ambipom's been hoping to try the versus mode for ages, so I'd like to make it work on the Pokégear too. Game software isn't my specialty, though.
If someone can make it work, I'll happily share the game files. And grinding tips to get the most overpowered units. The rank 10 suits are SO worth dealing with those cheating boss levels.
Please contact me if you can help. Thanks in advance!

Wait, do you even know what a video game is?
text
no
[This is going to be a uphill battle for this poor man.]
text
Okay, so.
You know how the Pokégear has programs that allow you to talk to people or check the map on the screen, right?
And you know there are board or card games out there where you try to get points or pretend you're a character, right?
A video game is what happens when someone creates a program to play one of those games on the Pokégear's screen, or on a similar device.
text
And games like that make you grind? What are you grinding? Wheat? Seeds?
text
Kinda like fighting Caterpies for two days so your Pokémon gains a level, but even more repetitive and less likely to piss off a Butterfree.
text
[Finally, she totally gets it on the first explanation. Thank you, kind sir!]
only back there, the person who got angry was our instructor if we didn't do it right or tried to cheat.
[So basically, he was the boss level they never really could clear.]
text
Except in the game, if you want to get another weapon, you can just beat up enemies until you have enough materials to build it, instead of having to request one, getting that request approved, waiting for it to be delivered, being reminded by your instructor or superior to never ever misplace it...
It takes about the same time for both methods, though.
text
if only we got better weapons when we beat up titans...
text
Are those titans living creatures, or mechanical? salvaging parts and scrap metal helps, salvaging skin and bones not so much.
text
they aren't human or animals so more like monsters? they look like people but they're too big to be people and they aren't smart at all and they eat humans. if you get close enough to them they smell bad.
text
Yeah, okay, it definitely sounds like there's nothing you can salvage from THAT. Where did those monsters come from, some mad scientist's lab?
text
What's a robot?
No one knows. They just showed up about a hundred years ago and just started ruining everything. Eating everybody, destroying villages, just... it's bad. They're bad. They smell bad, there's only one way to kill them, and when they die, they just evaporate, bones and all.
text
In this context, a robot is like a suit of armor crossed with a vehicle. Made of metal and all sorts of components to make it work, and there's a cokpit in the head where a human pilot can sit and make it move and use weapons by pressing buttons and pulling levers. Not everyone can make them work well enough to fight, though.
So they're monsters that destroy and kill indiscriminately, are nearly impossible to kill, and disappear like magic when you DO kill one? How the hell do you fight against that, if you don't have mobile suit technology?
