Video
[Mami smiled at the camera, her Budew bouncing in her arms making sure she's seen.]
I feel I should introduce myself. I'm Mami Tomoe, and this little one is Fiore. I do hope we can get alo-Fiore!
[She laughed as the baby pokemon batted the Pokegear out of her hand. The screen showed the sky for a moment before being picked back up by the girl.]
Sorry about that. Fiore's a little bit excited.

[video] It's okay~ I figured irl was a thing
I hope your partner has warmed up to you by now. I take it you're a trainer too, then?

[Translation: she likes to fuck with him. Affectionately, but still. It doesn't help that her Gothitelle boyfriend encourages it.]
And I happen to be a breeder, actually! Which reminds me, as you're a new arrival, should you want any Pokémon to keep your Budew company I'm more than willing to transfer you an egg or two.
[Please god take them he has so many eggs he's drowning in babies]

Oh uhm, sure. I'd love to try and raise an egg. [She was worried about breaking it though.]
I don't have much to give you in return, though...

[Honestly it's one of the nicest places he's been to. You get given money, supplies, and citizenship (ID included!) upon arrival, without having to do anything but show up. It's fantastic.]
Here, let me send you a list --
[The other great thing is how centralized everything is on the 'gear.]
I may be biased, but I recommend either subspecies of Vulpix. I have had nothing but good luck raising my own.

[Mami looked through the list.]
It would be smart to have a counter against flying types, I think...I'll take an Alolan Vulpix egg, if you don't mind.
[She struggled with the asking him a question or not, but then realized, she probably should.]
Do you have any tips for taking care of an egg?
no subject
Mainly? Keep it warm, and keep it near other Pokémon. I have many working theories about the relationship between Pokémon growth and energy storage, but to put it in plain terms, the egg will need to absorb some measure of energy in order for the Pokémon within to develop to a point where it can viably hatch. Simply carrying it with you as you travel is usually enough.

Thank you. I'll make sure to do that.
And I'd really like to hear more about your theories sometime after all this has sunk in.

I'm going to recommend to you what I recommend to most new arrivals: subscribe to newsletters and periodicals. Pokémon Letters is very good for general information and Egg is most helpful for breeding, I've found. If you happy to see an article by one Dr. Stanford Pines, that would be me.
Not that I'm close to publishing, but I'm working on it.
[He has like five papers going and not a one of them is set for publication because he keeps getting distracted by the other four.]

I'll have to do that then. I look forward to learning everything I can about this place.
[Because it's not like she could go back even if there was a way to.]
It's very nice meeting you Dr. Pines. I look forward to seeing your work published.
