ACTION [Spoilers for Pacific Rim Uprising]

[To be honest, when Newt wakes up, he doesn't really notice that he's not in his own room[or in a lab, or a prison cell, or an interrogation room,]. He barely even reacts to some woman showing up, shoving a bunch of things into his hands, and telling him to start his adventure. He doesn't even try to argue with her that this doesn't make any sense.

He's too busy losing his fucking mind because finally, for the first time in years, they're gone.

If you happen to be in New Bark Town, either just passing through or newly arriving here on your own adventure, you may notice a fourty five year old, grown ass man just staring, awestruck, at his own hands. Newt hasn't even really figured out the fact that Pokemon exist here, yet. He's too busy being amazed that he's able to walk, and move his hands, and blink, and speak, instead of having the aliens in his brain do all those things for him.

Eventually, Newt will notice that other people are nearby, and grin somewhat uncertainly.]

I don't know if you're, like, a figment of my imagination, or what, but this is the best I've felt since saving the world, man. If this is a dream, it better not end.

NETWORK [No spoilers by default]

[It doesn't take Newt much time to get his bearings. And once that happens, it takes even less time for him to start up his first video entry on the network.

It starts off a little blurry as he shakily manhandles the PokeGear- finally, it begins to focus on his face. To be honest, he looks pretty haggard, but his eyes are bright with manic energy and he's grinning ear to ear.]

So! Uh, hi- I'm Newt. I'm new here- though, you know, guess that was obvious- um, so I'm like-

Ok, first off, this is all cool as hell. Like, oh my God? Cute and weird lil' monsters everywhere, and none of them are trying to destroy the world, this is like, heaven. And I'm- I'm still not really sure that I'm not dead and in the afterlife, by the way, that's still, you know, a theory. Lotta theories right now, dunno which are right.

Uhhh, anyway- what was I saying?

[Before Newt can get on track again, a Pokemon hovers into view, gently headbutting the Pokegear's screen.]

Oh, right! This is my new best friend, her name's Scylla. She's adorable, isn't she? Like, oh my God. Look at that mouth. And she, like, levitates? How cool is that?

... God, I was gonna say something, I think. Wasn't I? Ehhhh, whatever.

[Ten minutes after the video ends, a text log is posted.]

I dunno, dude- can't the afterlife be different for everyone? I've got a few doctorates- Kaiju xenobiology's my big center of study, but I've also dabbled a bit in vetmed, I've got a PhD in mechanical engineering, and of course chemistry.

I didn't know anyone else named that on the colony but when I woke up here, there was another person named Newt. He's gone home now though.

[Armin is not a new trainer, hasn't been one in quite some time, but today he is back in New Bark Town for the first time in... well, almost two years.

He's busy adding another sticker to his Scavenger Hunt booklet --seriously, 'Mom' had been the easiest person to find on this entire list'-- when he is suddenly addressed by a man who is managing to look stunned, amazed and somewhat uncertain all at the same time.]

Uhm, I'm not sure about the saving the world part, but this is not a dream. I'm not a figment of your imagination either. [Armin knows exactly what is going on here because, well, he's been there. They have all been there.] You must be new here.

Oh, dude, I totally saved the world. Like- not this world, but back home.

Are you sure? That sounds like something my brain would tell me. Maybe they're just trying to keep me all complacent and stuff. I dunno. It doesn't feel like it, though.

If it is a dream, it is an impossibly long one. I've been here for almost two years now.

[Though, if it is a dream, please don't wake him up.]

This might be hard to understand but you've ended up in a different world. We don't know why or how it happens, but it is something that has been going on for eight years now. People get taken from their own worlds and end up here.

A long dream's better than nothing, I guess. I mean, unless it's a nightmare or something. Oh, dude, not hard to understand at all. If this is actually happening, then it's like, only a little weirder than stuff back home.

[Mabel had gotten her sticker in place from "Mom" and had planned on heading out of town to avoid getting caught by the Skitty Lady--she didn't want to end up in jail again okay--when she spotted an older guy staring at his hands. Looking just kind of amazed by the world in general. Which was fair. The Pokemon world was kind of amazing!

Still.

Glancing at Little Dipper, her Minior, her just thrummed happily, Mabel cleared her throat and tucked her arms behind her back as she put on a smile.]

You okay, mister? First time in a different world?

[kscience]

Nah- I mean, kind of? It's- yeah, that whole business is complicated. I've never physically been to another world, but like, my brain sort of kind of was? Because I mindmelded my brain with an alien hivemind who were in another universe- does that technically mean I've been to another universe? If, like, I've just only been there in spirit? In brain?

Is that, like- is that making literally any sense whatsoever?

[Mabel just stares with her smile still in place, humming thoughtfully.]

Sort of! I mean, my brother and I traveled to a different world back in our normal world before we came here and then we ended up here and then I went back home again and now I'm here again. So it's all really weird and stuff. Anything is possible!

[Her Minior bumps into her back and she giggles.]

I'm Mabel, by the way! Mabel Pines! I can tell you about this place if you want and about Pokemon and stuff! I'm an expert Pokemon catcher!

[Not really but she caught several the last time she was here.]

... Oh my God, that's so cool?? Also, your little rock thing is adorable and how is it floating. I love it. [Newt still hasn't quite figured out the whole Pokeball thing, yet- too busy trying to comprehend existing. His Tynamo is still in the Pokeball for now, quietly waiting for him to figure it out.] Right- I'm Newt! Uh, Newton Geiszler. And thank you- I'm, like, completely lost about everything that's happening here, I kinda spaced out when that woman in there was talking.

[How many Newts can there possibly be? What parents are looking down at their perfect new bundle of joy and thinking 'yes, I will name my precious progeny after a slimy water lizard!'? Apparently like half a dozen or so...]

Also, don't judge the world destroying habits of local monsters after a couple hours. Trust me, shit tries to destroy the world plenty around here. I mean the world never ends, but stuff tries!

I dunno, man, it wasn't that popular back where I came from. But it is a pretty cool name, so...

Ehhhh. [Newt waves his hands dismissively.] I'm used to monsters the size of skyscrapers, you know? These guys are like. Little dudes. I saw some that looked like kittens earlier.

Like, I'm sure they could destroy the world or something if they tried, but it's hard to be all intimidated by these little guys.

Nice to meet you Newt, I'm Hermione Granger. You know, you're the third person named Newt that I've met here so far. It seems to be quite a popular name!

I just want to advise you to be careful - pokemon may look cute but some of their abilities are quite powerful and can be very destructive.

Also, I probably wouldn't advise drinking a pokemon potion - they've been created specifically to cater to the needs and genetic structure of pokemon, not humans.

Yes, she's a very intelligent young lady.

They're certainly different from pets we have at home that's for sure. Although my cat Crookshanks is really smart - but that's probably because he's part kneazle.

I don't think you'll have any adverse side effects, however to be on the safe side you could either purge it from your body, or drink a lot of water to dilute the potion?
