2. Video
[Kim is taking a break on the side of a route. You can tell because she's under a tree and there's an Espurr draped over her shoulder. Don't mind the pokemon, she's just going to stare at the screen as Kim brings the gear up in focus. Said Espurr will continue to stare throughout the post. Have fun with that. Why no she does not seem to be moving closer...]
This place takes a while to get used to. But I have to admit, the multiple radio stations are a nice perk. Back home we have.....two functional ones at the moment? And I think I have all the songs from the main one memorized. ....I really need to try and find Travis some new music holotapes....
I suppose there's three if you count the Minutemen one. Though it's mostly an alert system and despite being their general I've yet to convince them to play any other filler songs besides that same fiddle music on a loop. There's a few other stations but they're usually pre-war emergency signals that only play in certain areas so I don't think they count.
Anyway. I do have a question though. Does anyone know if there's a station here that has radio dramas? Like plays in radio format? There is one back home that has these old radio programs that I listened to as a kid, and while I know this place won't have the Silver Shroud or anything. I'm open to others. Does this place even have fictional superheros or detectives? I really should check to see if there's a place that sells comics here.
Thanks in advan-
[And she gets interuppted as the staring Espurr tumbles down onto the gear.]
Ack, Mama Murphy. What did I say about leaning too far?
[She picks up the pokemon who 'totally meant to do that' and puts her back on her shoulder.]
Sorry about that.

Sorry about that.

Hopefully. I'll see if they have stores with them. It would be nice to see more books that aren't all charred paper garbage.
Oh and call me, Kim.

[His head tilts. Curious. War isn't something he's familiar with. Not in his world, at least. He knows the concept. But that's it.]
It sounds as if you come from quite the world. My apologies, Miss Kim.

[She shrugs.]
Don't be. The only people who should be sorry are long dead by now. And nuclear wasteland or not, it's been my home for over a year now. There are good people there. People who deserve better. I live there, well I did. So I make the most of it and try to help as much as I can.
It certainly is, quite the world though.

[Then again, there could have been wars, but no one ever told Shadowmaru about them.]
You come across as exceptionally determined. How incredibly admirable of you.
no subject
[Give her a moment.]
That's.....I've been...not in wars but surrounded by the effects of them my entire life. It's hard to imagine a place without them.
[After all. War...war never changes.]
Thanks, I've also been called incredibly stubborn. But it helped that the first few people I met when I woke up in the wasteland were some of the best sorts of people you could meet. People who help others just because they can.
Also I've had a pretty strong driving motivation since then and after a while you kind of just channel that into everything to stop yourself from going crazy.
[Or you know, at least she did.]

[There were so many other issues.]
Ahah, well. Stubbornness has its own virtues, or at least, it did so in my world. I would embrace it, were I you.
Oh? Does that persist?
no subject
[She just found out today that that's a thing. It's taking her a while to get used to because, what sort of power does this place have and also why are they making everyone human?]
Oh I have. Anything that can keep you alive and moving in the wasteland is at least worth trying. Unless it's bitterness and hatred. I try avoid those ones. I've seen a few causes of what happens with those and it generally doesn't end well.
Persist? Well not the main source. Things ....change. But I found you can find causes and things to keep you going even in the worst of it. So far it's been working.
[And that had certainly been put to the test.]

[He doesn't sound ashamed or embarrassed, though. Proud, if anything.]
Mm, no it does not. I can agree on such a thing.
[Probably for different reasons.] And yes, that you can.
no subject
You certainly are. Nice to meet you Shadowmaru. My name's Kim.
I have some friends and family back home that would end up human if they showed up here as well. Today's actually the first I've heard of it. But then again I haven't been here that long.
[It still seems weird, even with all the stuff she's seen here. She nods.]
no subject
[He... actually bows. Because of course he does.]
You have friends who are also AI?
no subject
[Her story is a bit weird as she was a robot but got uploaded into an empty synth body.]
Also in my world there are other types of people that would probably be considered non human. There's ghouls, who are people who have been exposed to enough radiation that they've mutated, lost their skin, sometimes their hair and other changes. Like they can live a long time if they're not killed and a few of them have.
And then there's super mutants which are people who were experimented on. Sadly most of them after they mutate are set on killing everyone who isn't a super mutant, but I have a friend named Strong whose willing to listen and he's been part of the group for a while now.
no subject
[Where he's from, you're either an AI or not. There's no grey area. Not even for someone like Deckerd. Even their own creators were quick to remind them of that fact, at times.]
You describe these creatures as if they were some sort of Halloween monster. How is it you've befriended one?
no subject
I suppose it's when they were built and how they were built....Robots were built before the war by different companies. Synths on the other hand were created after the war, many years later by a small group of people who wanted to make them as human looking as possible. If you saw a gen-3 synth you wouldn't be able to tell they weren't a human unless they were killed.
You'd probably have to talk to a robot and a synth about what makes them different honestly. Or the people who created them, but they're either long dead, dead or ....off hopefully doing other things with their lives now.
[Things that don't involve being unethical mad scientists.]
Super mutants? Honestly I don't know. Strong is ...different, he listens to people. I met him when I answered a distress beacon by a guy who'd been captured by super mutants. Found him and Strong in a cage because apparently Strong had been talking to the man and the rest of his group turned on him.
He's still violent and loves killing things. But he also likes when we help people? I'm not really sure what's going on. My current theory is that whatever it is that makes super mutants isn't a sure thing and he mutated in a slightly different way then most of the others.

[Probably not exactly what she meant but --]
Well then! Fortunate for the two of you that you located each other, isn't it?

[Codsworth is 100% family and she will fight anyone who says a Mister Handy cannot be actual family. She knows her late husband would too.]
Synths....well they're not supposed to have any say in what they are but well....they've developed more individual personalities as a whole and sometimes they escape. And considering there was a rebellion a little while before I came here. Where they, with some help from an outside group, turned against the people who made and enslaved them, I think they're going to have a lot more choice in what they want to do in the future from now on.
[Which is clearly good in her mind but then again she's dealt with the Institute and knows how utterly terrible they were.]
Yeah, and it's good to get another perspective on things. Super mutants might want to kill things all the time. However finding out how they act when it's just them was interesting
