[Video] [001]
[The video starts at a very unflattering angle of Connor, who mutters a quiet "oh" to himself and holds the Gear up higher so the video isn't all about his chin. A Magnemite floats past lazily in the background. The man looks confused, as all new arrivals do, and it takes him a moment to figure out what he wants to ask.]
Hello. My name is Connor. I just woke up here.
[Which is strange in itself, because he's never slept before.]
I have a few questions. What is this creature following me? How did I get here? I can't be dreaming. Androids don't dream.
[So this is very real.]
Secondly, does anyone have any experience with suddenly becoming human?
[He's not sure how to handle this.]

You should be somewhere called either Kanto or Johto, specifically the towns of Palet or New Bark respectively. That's a Magnemite, a creature local to this world, it's also yours.
We all just woke up here, nobody knows how.
...[There's a pause now.]
And I have no personal experience with suddenly being human, I do have a fruend that suddenlyachieved something similar. It... had nothing to do with this place though.
no subject
This is New Bark Town. It was on a sign.
[But he's somewhere called Johto? He's never heard of it.]
What happened to your friend?
no subject
[Is this helpful, Connor? Huh? No? That's ok nobody understood back home either.]
no subject
[Well... hm. No, that isn't very helpful.]
I don't think that's quite what happened here. What was he before he became human?
no subject
So in other words, this isn't particularly helpful, sorry.

[The basics she can answer. She recognizes the Magnemite, at least, and she knows at least a little bit about feeling... different upon waking up.]
The creature behind you is a Pokemon. It is a... assigned sort of pet, really. It will be your companion and friend throughout your time here. [She could go on and on about the usefulness of Pokemon, or about how they were a tool for fighting, but she gets the feeling that it might be a little too much for a first introduction.]
As for your current... state of existence, that is also quite normal. Anything that might set you outside whatever traits define the norm here are altered so as to not disturb the balance. In my case, a number of mental and superhuman abilities were removed. In your case, it would seem they made you human entirely.
[She pauses, giving time Connor to process what she says. In the meantime, she scratches at her head and offers a slightly more sheepish smile.]
It is... a lot. Let me know if I am overwhelming you, okay?
no subject
So the pokemon is friendly.
[That's good to know for sure. It hadn't attacked him yet, but there's still something unsettling about having it just stare at you. He gives Angel a small smile back.]
I'm still not sure how to process all of this, but thank you for trying. What abilities did you have removed?
no subject
[She's relieved when Connor smiles back. He's at least not so shell-shocked that he can't emote.]
I understand. It is... a lot to take in. It will take time, that much is certain. [Her brows draw together as she considers his second question.] I don't think the words I would traditionally use to describe them would make sense to you. Technopathy would be the closest word to it, I think, though it's certainly more complicated than that.
no subject
Technopathy?
[He goes to run a search on the word, and... he can't. The LED on his temple blinks yellow as he becomes frustrated, the only sign left that he was once an android. This is going to take some getting used to. Well, logic dictates that it's like telepathy only with technology, so that's what he'll assume.]
I think I understand. And when you arrived here, you no longer had those abilities.
[He's sort of starting to get it.]

Hey Connor. My name's Kim.
That creature following you around is an animal called a pokemon. You wake up here and you get one. It's what happened to everyone whose not from this world. There's a lot of us from different worlds here and we woke up the same way. It takes a while to get used to.
The gear you're using now, should give you more information about them.
no subject
[He nods along with her explanation about pokemon. It lines up with what others have told him so far.]
And you can't leave?
[He assumes that's the case, if everyone is still here.]
no subject
I've heard it from enough people now that I'm willing to give it the benefit of the doubt.
no subject
[So at this point, he's willing to accept that Kim is telling the truth.]
I suppose that's good to know, though.
[Not... that anyone would miss him back home anyway.]

video;
May I inquire -- you said the word "android". Would that have been your previous incarnation?
no subject
[That's going to take some getting used to.]
But now I'm human, and I'm not sure what to do.
[Dealing with pain and hunger and being tired is not something he came programmed with.]
no subject
Allow me to introduce myself... I am Shadowmaru. Ninja Detective. And... BP-501.
[He smirks.]
Formerly, a Super AI unit.
no subject
[Said politely, with a small smile in response to the smirk.]
I was a detective too, though not a ninja one.
[He wonders what the main difference is.]

And how it's the fucking worst.

[He seems discouraged by that attitude, though.]
What were you, before you arrived here?
no subject
Well, then we're not too different. I was an artificial human too, except more the organic kind. We were called homunculi, made by alchemists trying to create human life and screwing it up.
And we didn't get tired or have to eat or sleep or worry about getting cold. And we didn't sweat. [He makes a bit of a face at that one.]
Which must be the same for a machine, right? You're in for a lot to get used to.
no subject
Correct. Androids don't feel pain, either. Something I'm already missing.
[Because oh boy does he have a headache.]
I've never heard of people being made through alchemy before. Your world must be very different to mine.

*it's only fair to respond with an introduction, right?*
Would you prefer a few specific answers to your questions about this world and the creatures here, or a general guide?
no subject
[He says it with a smile, trying to be polite.]
A general guide would be more helpful to begin with, if you don't mind. I've had some questions answered, so I know that the creature following me is a pokemon. But... I'm not sure what there is to do here.
no subject
*he sends a link to a post, that features both a video and a text version for download*
Though the matter of what to do probably depends somewhat on what sort of things you'd like to do.
no subject
I'm not sure what I'd like to do. I've only recently gained free will. I'm not sure what to do with myself now.
[Honestly, his plan here is basically "follow Hank". He does seem to get an idea, though.]
There are dogs here, right? Different kinds of dogs?
