Action

[It had been a long road. 10 days of travel. She'd nearly run out of packaged food, but had yet to resort to eating berries, when finally the small girl made it, staggering into Violet City and flopping on the road.]

Cicada-chan... We're here! The city! [Her nincada, which has left her usual place on Yotsuba's shoulders to poke her in the face and make sure she's ok, buzzes excitedly. This is her first big city in a while, after all. Prompted by the poking, Yotsuba pushes herself to her feet again.]

We should find the pokemon center! You guys need to rest up! [So she runs off, looking for the tell-tale red roof, chased by a madly buzzing nincada.]

[The feed opens in the familiar interior of a pokemon center. Yotsuba is grinning away, per usual. She's still a bit dingy from her travels.]

Yotsuba caught a lot of new pokemon on the way to the city!

[She starts to do an inventory of them, then frowns.]

Where did they go? Yotsuba only has six pokemon, but there should be more!

[The PC is right behind her. Someone teach her how to use it?]

[As soon as she reaches the Pokémon Centre a Mightyena will be trotting up to her aiming to lick her face. Yep, DD has gotten bigger and behind him is a tall, old grizzled soldier smiling to himself.]

Easy, boy. That's enough.

[Snake pats DD's head and manages to pull his dog away from the poor girl. Slobber face? Sorry, Yotsuba.]

[She doesn't seem to mind slobber face, and laughs loudly once DD is clear.]

Heheh! DD is a good dog! But he got biiiig.

[She reaches forward to pet the mightyana even as her own nincada shakes herself off. She doesn't so much enjoy the slobber, but she constantly rides Yotsuba's shoulders so she's stuck with it.]

Yeah, he's pretty big now.

[Snake likes that DD got bigger since he's more of a war dog now? Even though that's not what the dog was given to him for, as there was no war within this world.]

He likes you.

[But DD will have to fight, so it's useful for him to be stronger.]

Yotsuba likes DD too! And Snake! You're both nice.

[She nods, and Cicada-chan buzzes her assent.]

[Nice? He's never been called that before. Still, it does feel good to be liked and not named as a warlord all the time.]

Found any giant berries lately?

Yotsuba found an oran berry that had two on one stem! ... But Ratty ate it.

[Her rattata eats EVERYTHING HE CAN FIT IN HIS MOUTH. He's getting tubby.]

What have you been up to? Grown-up things?

Your Ratty? A Ratatta, right?

[It was just an educated guess.]

Not so much grown-up things. Just travelling and catching more Pokémon. Ran out of space so most have gone into my PC Inbox.

Daddy has a PC back home, but Yotsuba is not allowed to touch it. Is it ok here?

[A young blonde man was just leaving the Pokemon Center, but he's blocking her way accidentally, standing in the doorway. He seems to be addressing the Natu on his left shoulder, and the Bellsprout on his right shoulder.]

T'ank goodness zese places do not charge for healing, or you two would be making me broke! No more een-fighting!

[Blink. Blink blink. Yotsuba has enough trouble with big words when they're not spoken with a strong accent. She idly swings her nincada from her shoulders into her arms as she listens to the stranger.]

[Whoops, he hadn't meant to have an audience. He blushes a little, embarrassed, but clears his throat.]

Pardon me,mademoiselle. My newest Pokemon seem to enjoy fighting each other more zan our enemies.

[Somehow their master they ignore, but a little girl pouting? THAT makes the two ashamed, looking down and fiddling with their feathers/leaves.]

I have only captured zem recently... But! Zey are MY Pokemon, so of course zey must be strong!

It's Peace-in-our-time Miller-oji-san!

[She wasn't that worried about him, because he's an adult. But she's definitely bigger than a 5-year-old, and more tanned than when he last saw her.]

[...that's his name now, isn't it? quite a title. he swaps to Japanese, not that it matters much with the whole auto-translation deal.]

I've been good-- learning to get by in this new world. Have you caught a lot of Pokemon?

[he isn't sure whether he wants the answer to 'how many living weapons do you have' to be a low number because they're dangerous, or a high number because the wild ones running around are potentially more dangerous.]

[why is he worried about this damn kid, parentless children are apparently dime a dozen around here, and Joey and his Rattata are still kicking somehow. she'll be fine on her own. maybe. probably.]

[She digs out 6 balls, all decorated with drawings and stickers. Whatever helps her tell them apart, right?]

This one is cicada-chan's, see?

[She points to a markered-on green cicada drawing.]

And I've got Mr. Hoot [Owl sticker] and Ratty [The ball has whiskers drawn unevenly on] and Strawberry [Strawberry stickers all over] and Poker [A poorly drawn unicorn] and Duralumin the Second [A teddy bear doodle]... but I can't find ZipZap. He's a pachi... pachycephalosaurus?

[Yotsuba where did THAT come from?]

[he nods. he has one. or, more accurately, Handsome Jack will soon be in possession of a tiny electric squirrel, whether he likes it or not.]

Did you lose the ball with... Zip-Zap... inside?

[there is a distinct verbal hyphen in the way he says the name. god, how do you talk to kids.]

It vanished when Yotsuba caught him! Like a magician!

[She's not sure where balls go when you have too many pokemon. She's not read the guide.]

You can only carry six Pokemon at a time. When you caught a seventh one, it got sent to a computer. Do you know how to use it?
