[The responding "Vul-pix!" is very telling as to what sort of Pokemon the young man being heard right now is speaking to, his 'gear either on by accident or because the aforementioned Vulpix had done it because it's trainer was being stubborn.

Whatever the case, anyone listening will hear 'Mom' saying goodbye then the music changes as they step outside--

and that's when the video clicks on as the 'gear hits the ground, an Alola Vulpix looking rather pleased with itself as it stares down at it. The little fox chirps at the 'gear then leans in to nose at it, turning it just right so he can pick it up and aim it at his trainer as he trots after the young man who is...not paying attention.

Rather he's digging through his bag with a bit of a frustrated frown.]

None of this is mine...I don't understand what's going on. That woman claimed to be my mother but she definitely wasn't. [He stops digging around and slings it onto his shoulder properly, looking back at his Vulpix--and giving everyone a proper look at his split hair and eye colors and that lovely scar he's got--only to pause.]

...You're filming me aren't you?

[The Vulpix chirps around the 'gear in its mouth and the young man sighs, turning completely and approaching his partner. He kneels down and reaches out to take the 'gear, holding it up properly so he can address the network.]

If anyone from U.A. High is seeing this, please contact me as soon as you're able. The sooner we find one another, the better.

[For all he knew, this could be the work of a villain's quirk after all.

He pauses, looking thoughtful.]

Actually, even if you aren't from U.A. High...I think it's best we work together to get out of here.

[That's what Izuku would say isn't it?]

I'm in some place called New Bark Town if that helps any. I'll be here for the next hour.

I'm not sure if she even has her own kids...I wonder what happened to them, if she really had any. [On second thought, being a mom herself, that's a pretty worrying thing to consider.]

It does sound like there's a lot to see, from what I've heard of it. I might visit it myself sometime. Either way, you're going to do a lot of walking when you start out, though.

If she didn't, something must have happened to her to make her think she did which is unsettling since she's living alone with random people appearing in her home..

That's the gist I've been getting. At least I won't be completely alone, I guess.

[Polar yips, ears flicking. That's right!]

Maybe...I'd hate to think what might have happened, if that's the case.

Yeah, Pokemon are good at keeping you company while traveling. [As well as helping to deal with wild Pokemon or local trainers.] Mine certainly have. I've done a lot of traveling this summer, and it wouldn't have been as bearable if I didn't have Pokemon with me.

I'll have to see if Polar and I can find any other companions once I figure out where our starting point is going to be. Considering how widespread everyone is, I'd rather have a few more Pokemon to keep things from being too quiet.

[And lonely.]

That would be a good idea. You'll find plenty of wild Pokemon in between the cities and towns, though there are a couple you can find while you're in town as well. You can also get Pokemon eggs from people who are selling them or just giving them away...that's how I got Salchow early on.

[Salchow perks up a bit at the mention of his name and then rubs his head against Yuuko's arm. Since she raised him from an egg, he's a bit of a mama's boy.]

Eggs?

[Okay, hold on.

Shoto looks at Salchow then to Polar, frowning in confusion.]

They come from eggs?

Yeah, they all do. Even the ones that don't look like they'd come from eggs. It's...one of the weirder things about Pokemon. Apparently nobody's ever seen a Pokemon actually lay an egg, either. [Honestly, she wouldn't have believed Salchow had come from an egg if she hadn't seen him hatch with her own eyes.]

That...makes absolutely no sense.

[They're mammals??? But they come from eggs?

Well that would make them monotremes then but--still.]

The eggs just appear at random?

Well, we do know Pokemon can breed, and they don't have to be of the same species to do it, but...I don't think anyone's seen how it happens. It really is strange...

Are the laws of science not a thing in this world?

I think it's more like this place runs on its own science... [Like how Pokemon can spit fire or water or poison.]

I..guess that's fair.

[You do come from a place where people have super-powers, Shoto.]

There's so much to learn about this world.

There's certainly a lot to take in. But it never hurts to ask questions. I've been here for about three months now, but others have been here for quite a while longer.

Yeah...the network is going to be very useful in that sense, especially since we're all so spread out.

True...I'm in Mahogany Town now, but a lot of people I've made friends with live way out in the Sevii Islands. It's good to know you can keep in touch with people even if they're far away. [Yuuko's already used to that back home, what with how she texted Yurio when he went back to Russia and how she was still able to call Yuuri when he was abroad for the Grand Prix.]

Are those locations in the same regions or completely different ones?

[He hasn't looked at his map yet so none of the town names are familiar to him just yet.]

Well, Mahogany Town's still here in Johto, though it took me a while to get here from New Bark. The Sevii Islands seem to be a different region altogether, though you can get there by taking the ferry from Olivine, which is also in this region. I don't know if you can reach the Islands from Kanto or not, though.

[Good to know that communication across regions was easy at least.]

So there are two regions and then the Sevii Islands are a separate place all their own?

Pretty much. You'll find yourself sleeping outdoors quite a bit at first, though it'll get easier as you keep going. You can still stay at Pokemon centers overnight for free, and there are inns in every city.

That's why we received camping gear then. And outside of battling, I'm guessing there are opportunities for jobs so we can make money? To make staying in these inns easier.

Yeah, there are a lot of jobs around. I worked part-time at Starmiebucks for a little while after I arrived, and now I have a job at the ice rink here in Mahogany. [Which is good, because Yuuko always felt bad about taking trainers' money after battling.]

Starmiebucks...

[You know, he's not going to comment.]

Are you an ice skater?

[Gotta love Pokemon-themed brand names.]

Yep! I used to figure skate competitively back home, though now I just work at the local skating rink. Since there's a rink here as well, I figured it wouldn't hurt to keep doing what I'm most familiar with. [Though she knows other people aren't quite so lucky, being unable to do the same things they did at home.]

[It's honestly the best thing ever.]

It's good that you're able to put your skills from home to good use here.

Oh, well, I don't know if I'm that useful, but I'm still glad that I can still stay true to my roots. I know other people here aren't so fortunate, though. Still, there's a lot of paths you can explore while you're here, Pokemon-related or not.
