Audio/Video 001

Thank you. I'll be fine. Let's go, Polar.

[The responding "Vul-pix!" is very telling as to what sort of Pokemon the young man being heard right now is speaking to, his 'gear either on by accident or because the aforementioned Vulpix had done it because it's trainer was being stubborn.

Whatever the case, anyone listening will hear 'Mom' saying goodbye then the music changes as they step outside--

and that's when the video clicks on as the 'gear hits the ground, an Alola Vulpix looking rather pleased with itself as it stares down at it. The little fox chirps at the 'gear then leans in to nose at it, turning it just right so he can pick it up and aim it at his trainer as he trots after the young man who is...not paying attention.

Rather he's digging through his bag with a bit of a frustrated frown.]

None of this is mine...I don't understand what's going on. That woman claimed to be my mother but she definitely wasn't. [He stops digging around and slings it onto his shoulder properly, looking back at his Vulpix--and giving everyone a proper look at his split hair and eye colors and that lovely scar he's got--only to pause.]

...You're filming me aren't you?

[The Vulpix chirps around the 'gear in its mouth and the young man sighs, turning completely and approaching his partner. He kneels down and reaches out to take the 'gear, holding it up properly so he can address the network.]

If anyone from U.A. High is seeing this, please contact me as soon as you're able. The sooner we find one another, the better.

[For all he knew, this could be the work of a villain's quirk after all.

He pauses, looking thoughtful.]

Actually, even if you aren't from U.A. High...I think it's best we work together to get out of here.

[That's what Izuku would say isn't it?]

I'm in some place called New Bark Town if that helps any. I'll be here for the next hour.

[End video.]

Could be small towns aren't set up for it on their own, but who knows. Maybe in the future people who arrived like we have will want to do something about that, if they feel so inclined.

[ She finds this unlikely, as it's been a minimum of two years potentially in some cases, but who knows. Could always happen. ]

Seems like "Mom" and the contents of a backpack will continue to be most people's introductions, then. Not the worst way things could be handled.

At the same time, any "motherly" affection extends to kicking people out of the house, from what I understand. I left on my own, but that seems to be a common response.

Maybe she's made to actually think anyone who wakes up in her spare bedroom must, by extension, be her child, so she compulsively kicks them out because that's how things are meant to be. Either way, she doesn't seemed harmed by the reality of the situation, for better or worse. That as a society they see no problem pushing children out to wander alone with an animal companion and wild animals prone to attacking everywhere they go means I don't particularly find myself worried about "Mom" over anyone else.

[ Why not all the above? Regardless, Annie glances down at his response, then at Lute, who keeps pace with her as they've started moving again. Writing and walking at the same time was proving to be a different kind of adventure. ]

I know at least one person claims it outright reminds him of a game that exists on his world, but regardless of the source of this reality, it's one that holds people for years without affecting a thing where they're from. A reality outside of the one we were individually born into. Make of that what you will, but time here seems to be just for ourselves and whatever purpose or lack there-of invented by whatever causes this displacement.

Where you go from here seems to be a matter of preference.

Did any of those you were asking for related to the organisation you mention respond?

I suppose thinking of it as a game can set you up to play it and not be too caught up in the "why."

For a few, they've moved from surviving to living, so it's possible, whichever way you end up deciding to go.

At least you know that. Things tend to shift and change, or so I've been told, so it might not always be that way, though that also doesn't mean anyone you care to see will end up being here. Just a chance that someone you know might, eventually.

Both to follow, and to break.

Yes, I've heard similar stories. As for the way people are spread out, it's true. I'm under the impression that some of those who've been here for some time have settled down in various ways, but most others are moving from area to area. Very few of us are in the same places at the same times. Less of an obstacle when you can use these port-pads or whatever they're called in the pokecenters, or the ferries, or trains, but as you said, it's a spread out network.
lyingheart: (listen | i wonder how)

[personal profile] lyingheart 2018-09-30 07:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Or does it make us adapt? Things like the ledges inclines me to believe we're the one's adapting, not the world, but there is more than I know in a handful of days to be learned about this place or its flexible reality.

Not that I find that situation untenable, but beyond that, it seems at least worth treating pokemon as... partners, I guess, out of respect for the awareness they have of the world around them. And how it's more or less geared to be difficult to live without at least one in your life.
lyingheart: (glance | and it's hard to learn)

Might depend on what you're trying to do. If you're living here, I don't think more than one is necessary, but if you want to challenge people with unknown teams of pokemon or like those in the gyms, having at least enough to cover their weaknesses to "types" would help. I don't think sheer quantity decides that, either way.

[ Says the woman with exactly two pokemon, and plans for a third only based on research and a certain dislike of these freaking ledges. ]

Team, maybe. Good luck with that. I think the gyms tend to be of a "type," and those types are different between each region. There's enough who seem to have gone that route here, you could ask over these things, or research in libraries after figuring out what type is at a given gym.

[ Libraries are useful and Annie's already got her own notes pertaining to such, so there's a mental nod to him taking advantage of the resources he has at his disposal. ]

It should help. Good luck, Shoto.
