2nd Recipe [Olivine City, Video]
[It's definitely evident in this video that Jane's begun to settle in to the world of Pokemon. She's got her 'gear propped up so it can film her as she sits cross-legged on a bed (obviously in the Olivine Inn, for anyone who's ever stayed), backpack leaning against the pillow behind her, and she is all smiles.]
Hello again! This is Jane, for those of you who didn't see my, erm...grumpy introduction a few weeks ago. But yes, ah, so! I'm alright, my friend Dirk managed to pick me up on Route 31 and now I'm staying with him and some of our...relations, I guess you could call them, in Olivine City! It's really beautiful...but then again, this whole region is full to bursting with plants and people and Pokemon...
[She pauses, having caught herself gesturing as she spoke so excitedly, and blushes.]
Um, anyway. Pokemon - lots of types. That's what I wanted to talk about. I'm from a world where Pokemon was a video game that children played, but they only had 151 species. It's grown very apparent to me that there are lots more than that around, and I was wondering if anyone on here could give me some...opinions, I guess, on what kinds would be good to catch. I've heard we can talk to the Psychic ones, which would be so interesting to experience! But I also want to make sure I've got a balanced team, I've heard that is a very important thing to do, especially if you want to challenge the gyms, and...[She shrugs.] Well, it doesn't seem like you can travel with practicallity anywhere without some gym badges, and the closest one to me is a...Steel type gym, I think. So, for starters, I know I'll need to train a LOT just to get ready for the gym, but if I had something with a type advantage, I figure that would help heaps. For reference, I have an Audino and -
[She's cut off by the click and creek of an opening door, and soon a Kricketune toddles into view, forlorn as he climbs up on the bed to flop into Jane's lap. His mustache is a total mess and there are bits of green berry smashed all over his face, and Jane lets out a small gasp of surprise.]
Oh, Poirot, what happened? I thought you were playing with Dinah - wait...she didn't, did she?
Tuuuuuune...
[She shakes her head and tsks, reaching into her backpack for a small wooden box and a towel.]
Oh, it figures she'd do that! I'll give her a talking to when she comes in - ah, wait, hold on.
[Jane sets the things down and leans over, smiling sheepishly into the 'gear. As she talks, the Kricketune watches her and pales, hiding his face in the bedspread and groaning in mortification. She's talking into the thing, that means people can see how undignified he is doesn't it???]
Sorry about this! Um, anyway, if you've got suggestions for what kind of Pokemon I should catch, please let me know! I'll be able to respond once I've taken care of this poor fellow.

video;
Well, that depends on what you want to do.
[Now that's not a human in any way, shape, or form. Jane stares back for a moment, dumbfounded, before she blinks to snap herself out of it and opens her mouth to respond.]
...
[Closing mouth. Giving her words a little more thought.]
Um. Are. Are you a...Psychic Pokemon?
[Nailed it.]
[Naoya pokes his head in from the side of the shot, behind her.]
I said it was fine. She likes talking to people, anyway.
T-Thank you, sir! I appreciate it!
[And now directing her attention to the Gardevoir,] So...this is how you speak to humans, then! It's...interesting. And all Psychic Pokemon can do this?
[She looks over at her trainer, looking fond.]
But it does help, much of the time.
[Augh this is really exciting! It seems like Jane's initial shock has definitely worn off.]
I guess if I were to catch and befriend a Psychic Pokemon, I'd like to ask it questions - what is it like to be a Pokemon, how would it like to be cared for, what ideas it has for battles...I don't want to feel like I'm being held back, here, but I want to make sure I'm doing right by the Pokemon that help me. The two I have are quirky and troublesome in their own rights, but I want to feel like...we're a team that helps each other. Does that make sense?
So yes, what you're saying makes sense.
[It helps that her Pokemon often act like overpowered little children who need her help.]
[Even though for a long time, she'd always been so stubborn and refused to listen - listening's a big part of it, after all.]
You don't know why we've been brought here from where we were before, do you?
[It was a longshot, but Jane at least wanted to try asking.]
Not that I want to look a gift horse in the mouth, so to say, but I can't help but wonder why it is we've been brought here, and where exactly Johto is in relation to our homes. But I've heard that there are people who were brought here years ago who still don't know.
I feel like I'm better off here, too. For, um, reasons. I guess...I just hope I can make the most of things.
I really am grateful your trainer let me speak to you. What kind of person is he?
[She won't press for more - she doesn't know this man, after all, and she barely knows this Pokemon.]
Well...he definitely is kind, if he's letting us speak like this. That's what I think. Will you tell him that for me please?
But I think that we're all adjusting together, which is nice to see. ... I don't like fighting all that much, and I'm less eager to battle than some of the others. We all have different ways of expressing ourselves... simply because I'm a Pokemon doesn't mean that I am always gearing up for a fight. I'd prefer to bake, most of the time.
[The expression that crosses Jane's face is nothing short of amazement and wonder. Why did she never think of this? Teaching Pokemon to bake...would hers want to learn? This is incredibly important information to find out.]
I - I happen to love to bake. I don't have the money or the space at the moment, but maybe sometime I could send you and your trainer some cookies?
But I'd love to taste your cookies, too!
[It's very clear that there are a lot of gears turning in Jane's head right now. On top of training her Pokemon, she can get a nice job doing something she loves? That's definitely something to look into.]
Y-Yes! I'd be happy to make them for both of you! Is there anything I should keep in mind when baking for Pokemon that's different than baking for humans?
[Fortunately, she's smart enough to know how to make good choices in her diet, but some of the others...]
[The food thing...that's interesting. It's true that she'd been sticking to feeding her Pokemon berries and things she made out of vegetables, but...]
So it's similar to how the animals back in my home were. I do actually like to cook in general, and I'd like to make healthy meals for my team, but the Pokechow is kind of...weird-looking to me? I mean, it is affordable, but at the same time, it wouldn't be bad to make them vegetable soup if they're herbivorous or omnivorous, would it?
... Those two probably shouldn't be on a team together anyway, really...
[She's never even heard of these two Pokemon but rest assured they won't be with her together ever.]
I have noticed the taste thing, though. Dinah, my Audino, she won't eat any berries that are blue, but she won't hesitate to eat the red ones, and they smell awfully spicy.
