Hey, everyone, it's Ray Stantz here! You know, the guy who was freezing on Route 29 on Christmas Eve?

Don't worry, I'm more than safe now. :-)

Anyway, I do research on the supernatural (I specialize in ghosts and the hunting and containment of them, for those curious!) and I've been reading up on myths and legends in this dimension. It's pretty interesting stuff, but I would like to hear some first hand accounts of the strange and unusual sightings in this dimension! Whether it's encounters with Legendary Pokémon, normal Pokémon, or just strange occurrences you've noted in this dimension, I want to hear about it! I think it would help get me a better understanding of this dimension. And even if it doesn't, it would be fun to hear about!

Or heck, if you have any fun stories of strange encounters back in your home dimension I would love to hear that too; I'm not picky!

Really? By "giant Pokemon" do you mean Pokemon who are normally small being giant, or Pokemon who are normally giant falling through the portal.

Huh, I can't say I've ever heard of Gravity Falls. I'm assuming we're from similar dimensions if you mentioned the United States of America. Mind telling me what state that's in, if you are from the USA, that is.

I didn't know half presidents were a thing though! But I will admit, American history was never my strong suit in school.

[Or any history that didn't involve the supernatural.]

More like pokemon no one had ever seen before and happened to be giant. They looked like giant jellyfish.

Most people haven't heard of it. It's a small town in Oregon, in the USA.

Well there's not supposed to be, but he got kicked out for being too silly. There was a huge government conspiracy about it. He's also the guy who founded the town of Gravity Falls. Which they also covered up.

Oh cool!

Well that explains why I've never been there. My company is set up in New York and I can't imagine anyone would pay for us to fly over to a small town in Oregon.

But when I get back I'm going to have to check it out sometime! :-D I would love to get a close look at a town that's covered in such supernatural activity.

And that explains that. I wish they would cover up a president's existence from being a horrible person as well as when a president is "too silly", but you can't have everything!

[Yeah he's gonna just... immediately buy that.]

It might not even exist in your universe. But you should check. And yeah it's like there's some sort of weirdness magnet there. I mean half the people here think I'm joking when I tell them some of the stuff that happened that summer.

Do you guys mostly have ghosts where you're from? What kinds are they? Do you have a classification system for them?

That's people for you. :-( Until we had our first real bust, most people thought we were a bunch of conmen psychics trying to trick poor old ladies out of their money. Still I would love to see if that town exists in my dimension!

And yeah we mostly deal with ghosts! There is an odd demon or monster we have to deal with every now and again, though.

And we do! Our basic measurements is categorizing ghosts in a Class from 1 to 12 that we got from Tobin's Spirit Guide. 1 is a weak, non-sentient spirit and 12 is"Really bad, would easily kill us and everyone else unless we're extremely careful", to put it in simple terms. And then there's other's classifications like Full Torso, Unstable, Anthropomorphic, general stuff like that.

Ugh, I know. People were always like. Dipper you're making that up, there's no such things as zombies. I mean yes it turned out that the zombie was a bunch of gnomes dressed up as a teenager but that totally counts as supernatural! Also the zombies showed up later when someone accidently raised the dead.

You should talk to my Grunkle Ford here. He knows like everything about the supernatural and other dimensions and universes.

I've only come across two cases of ghosts so far back home. The classification system we use goes to eleven. It did go to ten but then we ran into a demonic vengeance ghost and added another level because it was totally worse then a ten.

You know, you're the second guy who's told me about this Ford! I really gotta meet him sometime; it's so rare to find other people who are truly into the supernatural!

YOU TACKLED A CLASS 11 BY YOURSELF AND LIVED?

How did you do that, kid?! In my experience tackling a Class 5 completely by yourself is usually a bad idea, and that's with equipment!

I wasn't by myself but it was pretty intense. There's a girl the same age as Mabel and me, named Pacifica Northwest and her family is like super rich. She wanted me to get rid of a ghost that was haunting them because they were having an important party.

Long story but it turned out the ghost was way more powerful then I thought. I'd trapped it in a silver mirror and talked to it and it told me it was trying to enact a curse it had put on the family years ago and they were just too snobby and rich to break the curse which was just let the "common folk" come to the party they always had.

Apparently it was powerful enough to get out of the mirror when it tricked me into letting it look at the trees. My current theory was because he used to be a lumberjack. Also I ended up being turned into a wooden statue by the ghost. Which is a thing it can do. But apparently Paficifca managed to break the curse by opening the gate for people to come into the mansion so the ghost was appeased and turned everyone back into people and just kinda left peacefully.

Oh yeah that explains that!

Still, even if you didn't trap it, the fact that you're able to to deal with a Class 11 as a kid is impressive! Especially without equipment.

Not that kid's can't ever help with the supernatural, but our equipment is really heavy! It took me forever to build up the appropriate strength to carry my proton pack without it weighing me down.

... And also ghosts are really dangerous for most normal people.

Really, what sort of stuff do you use? I had a book with an exorcism spell and a silver mirror. It should have worked if the ghost was less powerful. It might have even worked if it hadn't gotten out of the mirror.

And yeah, ghosts can be really dangerous but by that point I'd seen a lot of weird stuff. A lot of it was trying to kill me. It was creepy but at least it wasn't a shapeshifter or a giant robot or something trying to end the world.

So far the ghosts I've met have probably been the more reasonable. I mean they want something that's usually weirdly specific and if they don't get it it's pretty bad, but you can generally work with that.

Various things! But for the actual capture of ghosts we rely on our Proton Packs and Ghost Traps.

Basically Proton Packs are miniature particle accelerator. Simply put, ghosts are made out of negative energy, so Proton Packs strip particles of the electrons, shooting the ghosts with a stream of pure positive energy and ensnaring them.

A Ghost Trap is basically just a container that can hold a ghost so there's not much to explain there!

Gee, kid, what happened that so many monsters try to kill you? It's my job to capture ghosts so I have to deal with things trying to kill me almost daily, but you seem like a pretty normal kid...Oh, mind telling me about the giant robot? I've never really had to deal with those things so I'm curious what it's like to fight them!

Oh yeah it's a lot more easy to work with! I gotta say, it's really exciting to be able to work with ghosts that don't want to kill you!
Back in my home dimension I just had Slimer, and I love him, but having even more ghosts who like you is amazing!

Probably because I kept looking for them. I spent most of the summer trying to solve the mystery of the town and weird journal I'd found with information about things in it.

Also the entire town was kinda nuts. I mean Mabel ran into a merman in the swimming pool. He didn't try to kill us. But there's a lot of weird stuff you kinda ended up running into a lot of things that did want you dead. Or if we got in the way of what they wanted, then yeah.

Oh that one? That was around the middle of the summer. There's a kid named Gideon, he's kinda not as terrible now but he was scarily obsessed with my sister and hated our family. Really, really long story he ended up coming after us with a giant robot that looked like him.

He grabbed Mabel. I jumped on it, broke through the eye and fought Gideon who was controlling it with a motion capture suit. I won the fight, the robot destroys a bridge, falls off it with Gideon and Mabel saves me from falling with her grappling hook.

Then Gideon ends up in prison and we don't have to deal with him again until the whole mind control mayor election later that summer.

It really is! We have other materials to help detect ghosts like the PKE Meter and the Ecto Goggles too.

Wow! This town seems to be on par in paranormal activity to New York City!
And this is supposed to be a small town?

... So I don't know if I want to focus on this Gideon kid who could build evil giant robots or the "mind control mayor election".

Yeah it's a pretty small town. There's a lot of forest around it though. So a lot of the weirder animals and creatures live out there.

Oh Gideon didn't build it himself, he just got someone else to. He's not that smart. ....he did have one of the journals with documented information about the paranormal and spells and things like that though. At least up till that point.

When the mayor died we had an election and Gideon's dad ran and so did our Grunkle Stan. Ah, we may have wanted Stan to win... a lot and Ford gave us a mind control tie. Then Gideon used a spell to take over his dad's mind. ...it got weird. We learnt not to use mind control when Stan found out and threw the tie out. Gideon tried to kill us ....again and Stan saved our lives when we almost got blown up.
