002 | Text, Violet City
Hey, everyone, it's Ray Stantz here! You know, the guy who was freezing on Route 29 on Christmas Eve?
Don't worry, I'm more than safe now. :-)
Anyway, I do research on the supernatural (I specialize in ghosts and the hunting and containment of them, for those curious!) and I've been reading up on myths and legends in this dimension. It's pretty interesting stuff, but I would like to hear some first hand accounts of the strange and unusual sightings in this dimension! Whether it's encounters with Legendary Pokémon, normal Pokémon, or just strange occurrences you've noted in this dimension, I want to hear about it! I think it would help get me a better understanding of this dimension. And even if it doesn't, it would be fun to hear about!
Or heck, if you have any fun stories of strange encounters back in your home dimension I would love to hear that too; I'm not picky!

theyre a creepy pokemon to begin with
when a nincada evolves, it splits into two pokemon. a ninjask which seems like a pretty normal bug-type pokemon and a shedinja. its like an empty bug skin. it doesnt make noise or move or react to you and the legends here say if you look into the hole in its back it can steal your soul.
one time it actually did. my friend's body went limp and her father and i looked after her while she was trapped in some nightmare world with other peoples souls
text
It's a good thing you told me this when you did, actually. I have a friend who would have tried it out for himself whether that really worked.
[Not that... Ray wouldn't have been curious about the legends himself and if they had any weight....]
Oh, and I'm sorry about your friend! :-( I hope you were able to get her back safely.
text
luckily you won't have to worry about dying here. i work in the Violet City pokemon center so i would know.
and thank you! My friend is well with her soul in-tact and all.
text
Oh hey, what are the odds? I recently go to that city and I'm thinking of getting some work there myself!
[I'm sorry Henry there is a nonzero chance of something exploding in that Pokemon Center now.]
Mind if I ask you what you mean by not having to worry about dying? I'm sure medical service is great in this dimension but I feel like death is usually a thing you have to worry about no matter the dimension.
text
i can rec you some places if you want
as for dying, that just isnt a thing people like us do here. you might black out but you always wake up in a pokemon center safe and sound
don't ask me how this town got so haunted though because i dont know. usually people need to die before there can be ghosts
text
Huh, that's weird! So no one's experienced dying whatsoever in this place? Not even from old age or natural causes?
Actually that's a common misconception, ghosts aren't always the result of something dying! Of course most ghosts are, but the basic definition of ghost is anything with psychokinetic energy, which covers a broad range of beings, sentient or otherwise.
text
[NOT FOR LACK OF TRYING.]
you know that makes a lot of sense. i wish i had someone like you back home when i was dealing with my haunting haha
ok so as far as places in town-
since you like ghosts, go to Sprout Tower at night
there are air stunt shows next to the gym if you like flying-types
there are some ancient ruins south of town im going to check out myself seems up your alley
text
Oh, thanks for the advice! I've heard about the Ruins of Alph and Egon and I were planing on spending a week there once it warms up a little, but I haven't heard about the other places! I'm sure Dickens (my Pidgey) would love to check out the air show!
[Oh right, the death things.]
Hmm, that really is weird!
I wonder if there is some sort of barrier in this dimension to keep your soul from leaving your body?
text
and no problem. if you decide to work at the PKMN Center i'll show you where one of the nurses thinks she hides her box of snack cakes
i dunno abt that. my friend did lose her soul that one time but it apparently didn't go very far. maybe you are on the right track tho
text
... There were only three people in my graduating class including me, but it's a legitimate PhD!
Oh dang! Do you mind if I tell Egon about the stash too? He's planning on working there too and I think we could both use some snack cakes.
Ah right, forgot about that :-\ Maybe our souls can't be taken away from our body through natural means?
