001: Video
[The gear flickers on and there's a pissed off woman with blue hair glaring at the screen. She gets straight to the point.]
I'm looking for any vault hunters. If you don't know what that is, directions to a place that sells guns would be the next best thing. Whatever these creatures are here, they don't seem overly hostile yet, but I'm not taking any chances.
[There's a small cat like creature to her side. An Espurr that seems to be jumping up and down.]
I'm not sure what this thing is. But I'm starting to think it ate some Eridium at some point so I'm keeping it with me just in case.
[She glances over at the Espurr and shakes her head before looking back at the camera. Her tone seems to grow darker.]
Oh and the off chance there's someone out there who knows what exactly happened to my powers and might have even been responsible? Keep this in mind. I don't need them to kill you.
[And the feed cuts off.]

video;
Here is Krieg, slamming into this with a video close-up of his eye.]
I'm a Vault Hunter! You need a ride, Pretty Lady?
[She can't see it because of the ever-present mask, but his face is lit up with a 1000-watt grin.]
video;
Good to see people were telling the truth about you being here. Where are you now Krieg? I just got here so all I know is ...well actually I know a bit at this point but location wise I'm still near the town I woke up in.
video;
[He drops the 'Gear away from his face and into his lap to look around and remind himself. It's been a whirlwind since Gaige arrived, hitting up all the towns as quickly as possible to activate her baby fast travels. He's lost track at least five times already.
While he's looking for a landmark, Maya is treated to a glorious view of his sweater. It's orange, and it has two purple Whismurs on it. The Whismurs appear to be singing, as they're surrounded by little black musical notes.]
The little Forest Town!
[Hey, Maya, he's back, here's his mask again. Sorry that answer is likely to be maddeningly uninformative.]
The Geek Girl just got here, too! I'll come back and get you!
video;
[Sorry that's....really strange and should she be worried or glad? Hard to tell.]
I heard Gaige was here...I didn't realize she was new as well.
video;
[And then his chipper mood takes a sudden 180, as it does sometimes, and he grumbles an explanation:]
Can't self-immolate anymore and winter is stupid!
[BUT THEN: Back to good cheer, because the topic of discussion is now Gaige:]
She was here for a long time before! But then she left.
[....well, good cheer for a moment, anyway, before he dips back back to unhappy again as he remembers that.]
She was gone for a long time, too. She just got back! But she forgot being here before.
video;
[She has no idea who that is.]
Yeah, this place really loves stripping people of their powers.
[Just flexing her left hand a bit. Probably going to become a habit for a while. Why don't you activate damn it.]
Wait....Gaige was here before. How long have you been here. ...And have I been here before and just don't remember it?
video;
[She is probably not going to have any idea what any of that means but...eh. She'll find out eventually.]
Mnnnn....It was two years in August! I don't remember how long the Geek Girl was here before she left and came back. You've never been! I'd remember!
...I missed you.
video;
Two years?
[And yeah Krieg you're a lot more coherent then you normally are.]
Apparently time works differently here...like everything else. Because I was just talking to you yesterday. ....We would have figured out a way to bring you back if we'd known you were gone. I would have made sure of it.
[Just, she's bad at emotions but she does care. Especially about her team/friends and Krieg. There is no way she'd leave him trapped somewhere if they could do something about it.]
video;
Also? Holy shit, the assurance in her voice when she says that kind of takes his breath away and makes his heart hurt. There had been a lot of times - mostly at the start of their adventure, but sometimes later, too - where he'd felt less like a team member and more like...the team mascot? The Vault Hunters' tame pet Psycho, barely coherent on his good days, but still cognizant enough to know friend from foe and to rip all foes at least one (usually several) new asshole. Not that that feeling would ever stop him from dying or killing for any of them. But still, it's...
...It's a little overwhelming.]
...I wasn't worried.
[Mostly because that had never even been a thought that had crossed his mind until literally just now, but it's still the truth.]
video;
Good.
So what's the deal with this world. I heard you get arrested if you fight anyone yourself and they don't have any weapons here.
video;
[And is he still annoyed about that? You bet your ass he's still annoyed about that.]
And there's no one here who'd get up after I hit them once, so I just fight with my monsters.
[And other people's monsters. All the monsters. He's a lot less annoyed about the lack of human fighting partners, because honestly? All of his Pokemon buddies are way tougher than the average human.
So, he's pretty ambivalent about the "fisticuffs get broken up and punished with jailtime" thing this place has going, honestly.]
video;
Huh, so they don't mind you fighting monsters yourself?
video;
[That's the important thing. To the world's authorities, and also to Krieg.]
video;
[This place is weird and has weird rules.]
How long does travel take around here anyway? I haven't seen a vehicle yet. Should I wait for you here or start walking somewhere.
video;
There's trains and boats but barely any cars.
[So it's basically Scooter's own personal hell.]
If you keep walking to the Cherry Town, I'll meet you on the road!
[He's in Azalia currently so it's not a problem at all to backtrack /o/]
video;
Sounds like a plan. I'll see you then, Krieg.
video --> action
[And it will be soon - he's in a much better position to race back to Route 29 from Azalia than he was in the Islands. Cherrygrove is just a short flight away, and then it's right on to Route 29 from there.
And so, Maya will only be walking for a couple hours before her peaceful constitutional (assuming it was peaceful, anyway) is interrupted by a maniacally laughing Psycho descending from the sky on a black Charizard.]
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! DEATH FROM ABOVE!!!
[He absolutely leaps off of TD's back from about ten feet up, because safe descent is too slow and he is too excited!! He hits the ground exactly as heavily as one would expect a 200-something pound brick shithouse to land, and closes remaining the distance between them, and only stops once he is right up in Maya's personal bubble. Unlike with Gaige, he doesn't pull her into a hug, bone-crushing or otherwise, instead contenting himself with proximity.
Lucky Maya: She now gets an up-close and personal look at the cheerful Whismur sweater.]
Sorry I'm late!
action
Speaking of fight....yup that is a falling Pyscho. She's just going to look up to see what he jumped off of, yeah that sure is a weird animal she can't recognize.
The sweater looks even stranger in person. Mostly because it's Krieg.]
There wasn't a time limit so I think you're good. Nice to see you Krieg. ....what did you just jump off of there?
action
[He turns to look over his shoulder at TD, who has since landed and made his way over to join them...though he's doing his best to stand directly behind Krieg.]
Say hi to the Pretty Lady, Torch Dragon!
[With that encouragement, TD bashfully peeks around Krieg's side, nudging aside one of the man's arms so that he can poke his face out from the protective cover of that limb. He blinks up shyly at Maya, and snorts a little puff of smoke out of his nostrils. Hello.]
action
Hey there, Torch Dragon.
action
He blinks again when she waves, and puffs another little cloud of smoke at her, before snaking his head back under Krieg's arm and returning to his hiding place at his trainer's back.]
It's really shy, but it loves to fight!
[All that bashfulness drops away when a battle is beginning.]
What kind of monster did you get?
action
[She's had the pokemon having a break in the weird ball thing after the last fight but when she presses the button to let it out, it seems fine. Just looking around in wonder....hey....]
Apparently she's an Espurr.
[She'll lean down to pick up the creature so she can get a better look at the new people/pokemon.]
She has psychic powers and what I read says she's pretty powerful. I'm thinking about calling her, Cataclysm.
action
Pfmnahahahahaha! CAT-aclysm is PERFECT!
[It takes him a few moments to get some self-control back, but when he eventually recovers from that devastating pun, he adds,]
The little murder cat suits you!
[Like Maya, the Espurr is small and unassuming, and can kill with its brain.]
action
Yeah.
I'm starting to get used to her. She's not bad, took on some ...wild pokemon I think they were. I guess I'll have to figure out this training thing so she can get stronger.
[Murder cat/Cataclysm is pretty sure Maya is pretty great as well. Mostly because Maya might have been actually pretty worried at first that the creature had been somehow eating Eridium and had looked up a bunch of stuff to make sure she was fine. Genuine concern goes a long way.]
