[Hey, it's Newt again. She's sitting next to some books by an inn bed and if you look off to the side you can see one of those newer pokemon, the blue one, sitting next to an Eevee. The Eevee seems to have a plastic dolls head with them. There is also a Luxray sitting next to them as though keeping them safe from something.]

Hi. I have a question for people who went to school.

What are the really important things you learnt there? I only got to grade two before- ...I came here and there's no schools but I still want to learn stuff. I know reading and math are important. And there's spelling and science things but I don't really know what the other stuff is.

What's important to learn?

I can't think of any company that could gain something from our efforts, but a government trying to distract its people from outside or political issues could get far with a few cute critters like this. Not that being manipulated by politicians would be any better than being manipulated by businessmen.

I suppose companies can't be doing everything evil.

No, which is strange. When people have power, be it political or financial, they usually want others to know it.

[are the Elite Four actual political leaders? Just very respected trainers? Who knows?]

Are most companies truly that bad in your world? I can think of a few in mine that profit from the war, but they're far from the majority.

Yeah, that's weird.

Oh. Well, I only know one company but they helped set up the colony I was born on. ...and then it turned out they were okay with letting us all die or worse if they could use the monsters they found as a weapon.

They even sent ...some people to find the eggs and bring back the aliens in the first place. So everyone died because of them and the person they sent to help just cared about getting an alien back for them to use.

They're really bad.

Sounds much like the Federation government used to be. Sorry you ended up dealing with jerks like them.

['Jerks' isn't the word he'd normally use for people like that, but this is not the time to teach her creative pirate swears.]

Did you at least manage to get away before you were brought here? With any luck and surviving witnesses, they might be sanctioned severely enough to never do that again.

Yeah. There were four of us that survived. Hicks is really hurt, Bishop got ripped in half but he's an android so he's still alive. And Ripley and me were okay. We were all in cryosleep when I got brought here.

....but I'm not sure. I know something really bad happened to Ripley with the aliens. And that's why they brought her to the planet, because she knew about them. The company did something really bad but she saw it and nothing happened to them.

[So, probably they're good at cover ups. And now the survivors are again, that one woman. A kid, a damaged android and an injured marine.]

Which means they're rich and powerful enough to silence most dissenters, or to cover up any info about their misdeeds. And with only four survivors...

[Yeah, he doesn't like those odds. And while the 'plucky child works hard to become politically important and reveals the truth' method has a proven effect on corruption, that takes time she may not have.]

Do you know if your colony had security cameras or terminals that weren't destroyed by the monsters?

.....the colony exploded.

[So um....that's not great news on the try not to be victims of the cover up front.]

The alien queen did get onto the space ship but I'm not sure if there were cameras or anything there.

The alien spaceship with the eggs might still be on the planet, but no one should ever go there!

...I'm sorry. It's always terrible when that happens.

[And extremely inconvenient, when it comes to proving such nefarious wrongdoing.]

Yeah, if there's a risk those eggs might hatch, it might be safer to destroy that spaceship. From afar, if at all possible. But a company like that wouldn't care about safety.

It was an accident but we were going to blow it up anyway.

Ripley said we had to nuke them from orbit because it was the only way to be sure. But everything went wrong and we didn't get to blow up the ship too.

[And then everything somehow went even more wrong is probably a great way to put it.]

The company wouldn't want to hurt the eggs, they want to use them as weapons. That's all they care about.

That would be a valid option if there's no one left to save there. And I'm sure a very pragmatic person could justify it even with the possible existence of survivors.

[Doesn't sound like there were many of those, though.]

Why would they even need weapons for? Is humanity at war in your world?

No, they're all dead. They either kill you or they use your body to make more aliens. And then you die from when they burst out of your chest.

[Everyone is dead. This girl needs therapy.]

I don't think so. He would have tried to use that as an excuse when he got caught trying to hide them. Ripley say's the company is just stupid because you can't even control the aliens. But they really want them.
