Hello everyone!

I'm going to be tackling my very first Gym at the end of the week and I was wondering if anyone has tips for the one in Ecruteak?

I've only ever battled trainers I meet in town and on the roads, but it's very important I get the Fog Badge.

[Her whole summer depends on it!]

But my team and I are very excited, and any advice would be very appreciated. Once we get the badge, I'm going on my first human vacation!

I'll admit I'm not the most familiar with those types of pokemon

[We all know how Armin feels about water pokemon.]

but do either Doofy or your Diggersby know Odour Sleuth? I know it is a common move for normal type pokemon to have. And it would be a great help.

It's one of those moves that shines only in very specific circumstances. Circumstances like this, to be honest.

You see, if you have your Diggersby use Odour Sleuth, it will become capable of hitting Morty's ghosts with its normal and fighting type moves. So, not only will it take away his immunities, it will also open up your move pool with moves that should also receive extra bonus damage because of the type match and finally, your own Diggersby still has its immunity to ghost type moves, so it also will cut down the moves Morty can use by a lot.

[Armin had been growing more and more excited as he explained, the sort of excitement of finding just the right strategy and he deflates with a bit of fluster when he realizes just how excitable he has become.]

I, uh, read up a lot before taking on Morty myself.

[Hee. He flushes a bit under the compliment, but it is in a happy way.]

I like this sort of thing. It's like solving a puzzle.

I try to. There are usually good ones in the newspaper. And Dipper has been teaching me to write in code and how to break them too.

It sounds like you have some experience with it.

I never thought of it that way, but that's true. Back home everybody speaks the same language, so there are no other languages to learn.

And... [A pause as he frowns a bit.] I never really thought about it, but looks like we all somehow speak the same language here too. Even if that does defy logic.

Thousands? That's incredible. There are some dialects within the walls, but nothing beyond that.

It could be. It does turn us all human too after all.
