Hello everyone!

I'm going to be tackling my very first Gym at the end of the week and I was wondering if anyone has tips for the one in Ecruteak?

I've only ever battled trainers I meet in town and on the roads, but it's very important I get the Fog Badge.

[Her whole summer depends on it!]

But my team and I are very excited, and any advice would be very appreciated. Once we get the badge, I'm going on my first human vacation!

[Oh wait. Is that badge advice you are asking for Rose? Have an Armin with a well-loved journal full of badge notes in his arm. You can see it is a well-loved journal because the cover is just a little scuffed and there are page markers poking out here and there.]

Poochey, for sure, he's my only Dark Type and his level is right.

Honestly, the downside to having all the badges is the fact that I don't get to come up with new strategies anymore. So I always like helping other people out.

That's a good start. Any pokemon who know Ghost or Psychic type moves will be useful too. Do you have any of those?

Wait, of course, Ducky does! He has some psychic moves, I'm sure of it! I'll have to check my others, though.

Which pokemon do you all have? Ones that are strong enough to take on this gym, that is.

[Armin would be more than happy to talk to Rose about the rest of her non-battle pokemon, but right now, she wants strategies, so the focus should be on that.]

Not exactly! Not like how humans understand it. Oh but I've been surfing before! We're going to go surfing!

Er, real surfing, not Pokemon surfing. Though we're doing that too, that's why I need the badge!

Have you beat the Ecruteak Gym?

I've been here for less than a month~ ....so I've beaten...no gyms.

They uh...they seem kind of out of my league right now... [But one day. One day she'll get that sweet cash prize.]

But there's lots of ghost types in the city, so I'd bet they'll have some of those! ...Especially with a name like 'fog badge' come to think, huh...

Anyway uh...if you've never been on vacation, doesn't that mean...you haven't been on any nonhuman vacations too? So...why say 'human'?

Well because there's lots of things besides humans in the universe, but I'm going on vacation with a natural human and we'll be doing human vacation things!

Oh! For ghosts, y'gotta hit 'em with...special attacks? Like...not a punch, but...water guns, 'n flamethrowers? Stuff like that. And, ghosts don't like dark stuff. Don't make sense, but, it's true!

I relied on the secondary typing of all the Pokemon involved during the battle, focuing on best utilizing and taking advantage of those are what helped me win.

Then that's probably a good starting point.

Otherwise, given this is your first gym battle you may just have to power through with levels.
