☆79☆ [Video]
[It may be a rainy afternoon - a bit stormy, even - but this video is being filmed anyway, albeit heavily zoomed in and from a seat indoors. It's a video of a Surskit and a Dewpider, floating on top of a pond with their natural water tension.
Or, well, floating is probably the wrong word for this. The Dewpider bows and extends one of his limbs to the Surskit, almost as though asking for a dance. The Surskit appears to accept, and then the two of them start skating over the pond together, almost to a melody that only they can hear. Or, well, if there is music for them, it can't be heard from here, in any case...
Regardless, the feed is left watching them, but a sleepy-sounding voice decides to narrate. ...To one definition of narrate, anyway.]
Y'know, I've never really gotten what some people have against bugs.

[After having a giant insect as a partner for a while, Britt has newfound appreciation for bugs. There he is in the screen, with a giant bee holding onto him]

I mean, I guess... But that's how bugs are. That's how they're supposed to be.

[Guess it's matter of getting used to them, but there sure would be panic for a while]

[Ryner, just let Ponyta go already...]

[Or, it's more that Thida's never been scared of them. She grew up in the mountains, and nature is easier to understand when you live in the thick of it.]
Guess it's like...people don't like if they're comin' at ya.

It's the same back home, really.
[Armin was that kid that had caterpillars in jars and could lay on his stomach for hours watching the ants go by. Bugs are a-okay in his book.]

[A sad degree. Armin can't really understand it.]
But, if it is based on ignorance, at least that also means that it can be changed. As long as people are willing to learn, that is.

Birds can go fuck themselves, though.
[Hank is particular in his phobias. But he's gotten used to Connor's big spider-monster.]

[He has strong, strong bird feelings, okay...]
You know, actually, where did you get that Surskit? Might try to catch one for Connor.

[are they really spiders...? eh, semantics]

Think how insects must have looked to them - particularly those that devour crops and produce and cloth and seem set against humanity. Look at predatory insects and imagine yourself an early civilization human who's never seen nor heard of anything like that, save from in cautionary tales.

For example, I'm still only just getting over a fear of dogs I've had for around 17 years thanks to certain experiences. You can know the animals are okay and probably safe and still be afraid of them. Fear is annoying like that.

They do have a lot of traits people might find unsettling. Strange eyes, multiple legs, lots of them and being small they can get in places.
I'm not really afraid of bugs myself. But I do write horror and they show up a lot in that genre.

Bugs have way more reason to be scared of people than the other way around.
