CAMP ALPHA: for everyone who wanted a crossover between summercamp and Ghost Adventures

Who: Everyone who came to Camp Alph
Where: The Ruins of Alph
When: July 18th-21st
Summary: This is a log for all the camping shenanigans your heart desires! For part 2 of the event, there will be a second log to keep the ensuing seance situation separate from the all-purpose ruin-exploration adventures. Rating: PG-13
Log:
Been to the Ruins of Alph before? Are you an old hat at this stuff? Well turn everything you thought you knew UPSIDE DOWN because EVERYTHING. IS DIFFERENT NOW.
… Or at least, that’s what the flyers being passed out under a canopy of cheap Celebi balloons that are bobbing around in the breeze say.
One thing’s for sure, there sure are a lot more tents than normal. By the time most of you casuals get there, the entire picnicking area, usually quite spacious, has been turned into a small tent city. And the excited atmosphere is palpable.
The crackle of the Ruin Rangers’ walkie-talkies mingles with that of the ghost-hunting equipment toted around by excited Hex Maniacs, burbling Unown are drifting here and there to blink curiously at all the new people and Pokemon suddenly on their turf, and chatter from Legend Seekers of all ages (really, of ALL ages-- everyone from Youngsters to Veterans have apparently been swept up in the Seeker-mania!) rings out as stories and speculations are swapped.
There’s lots to do, plenty to explore, and (according to word on the grapevine), more than enough spooky rituals to perform once the night falls.
Will you solve some tile puzzles and fall into an underground chamber? Stick to the main group and make s’mores? Befriend a floating letter (or twenty-four)? Go directly against the advice of the tired-looking Rangers and play One Man Hide-and-Seek in the dark?
Or, most importantly, will you start a small-scale riot in order to keep the loud static boxes away from the tents where you’re trying to sleep?

Look, Korra doesn't need to go telling everybody she meets how she sort of broke the world that time.
"And if they want to talk to people, they just talk to people. Some of them are really chatty. But spirits are kind of different where I come from, it doesn't just mean 'the spirit of a dead person'. That's one kind of spirit, but lots of them were born and live in the spirit world and aren't anything like human."
no subject
"So some of them are just another form of being. That's interesting. Do they resemble humans, or do they have their own shapes?"
no subject
It was limitless, really.
"There's one spirit that's like a giant island, kind of. And some aren't even solid things, they're like...colors on the wind, or floating light."
no subject
"That sounds like a pretty varied mix. Would these types of spirits have a lifespan or do they just exist?"
no subject
And it's the sort of thing that monks spend decades researching and trying to understand, Korra is not equipped to try and explain it to someone who has no context.
Which she realizes is probably not great on her part, but oh well.
no subject
"So, hard to explain. I do know that one at least. We've got more then a few things that make no sense to people here. ...or to us back home. I don't even have a really great explanation for what I am."
no subject
The Avatar is a weird thing to have to explain to people here. Korra's...just kind of stopped at this point. Unless it comes up, like on the weekends when she's actually The Avatar again.
"Weird half-spirit kind of deal going on over here. And not the ghost-spirit kind. That's my girlfriend!"
no subject
"Weird....unknown deal over here. I'm a siren. There's only six sirens at one time in the galaxy and they're always women. Weird powers, weird tattoos that were always there, possibly some connection to an older race of aliens or vaults. Fun, confusing stuff like that."
no subject
Which is always a good warning to offer. Korra had been taken entirely by surprise the first time it happened to her.
no subject
Maya just grins.
"Confusing or not, I love my powers. Still, at least I get to keep the tattoos while I'm here and the powers are gone."
Her look of only wearing a right sleeve might look even weirder. Possibly.
"So, do you think these people will actually manage to communicate with spirits while we're here? They're a bit odd but I'll be honest, part of me was a bit worried they were a cult. They don't seem to be so I'll put up with some oddness."
no subject
"Who knows? I mean...weirder things have happened here and it wouldn't surprise me if there was something to communicate. Whether or not anybody will?"
Korra looks skeptical of that.
"But nah, there's not really any cults running around or anything. The Legend Seekers are pretty harmless. They're just really into conspiracy theories surrounding Pokemon, I guess."
no subject
I mean that's probably not ominous.
"That's good. Cults get really annoying. I'll take people obsessed with conspiracy theories any day. Besides, weird theories sometimes turn out to be true."
