Extra cash is nice. Nearly ending up with a concussion because coins fell from above and hit your head is not.

Yesterday morning, both times I won a Pokémon battle in town, I was nearly brained by falling coins. Haven't dared to battle since.


I was 100% awake, sober and drug-free, for the record.

Were there people up on a building somewhere above your throwing the coins or something? Or maybe Pokemon?

I hadn't brought my Persian around. Are there any wild ones in Pewter? Because if it was a person, rather than a Pay Day from above, that's one expensive prank.

Nope, doesn't look like it. That would've been a good explanation too.

It's not happening to me but I don't battle other people all that often. I'll give it a try once I've got decent headgear.

I wonder how the guys that got their own gyms are doing.

It's apparently not happening in Lavender today. Therefore, it's either limited to Pewter, or something that lasted a single day.
If their challengers are knocked out by falling coins inside their gyms, are they legally responsible for the subsequent injuries? Especially if there's no actual explanation for the incident.

Someone chucked a prolific meowth out a sling shot? This fucking place never makes sense to me. But so long as no one's dying, could be an extra meal's worth of change.

In theory, it's a generous and lovely gesture. In practice, it kinda hurts if they don't aim well.
And it's also possibly illegal, if someone really did slingshot a poor cat up in the air.

No idea, but that it happened in Goldenrod too makes the 'flying stalker with too much money' theory far less probable, which I can appreciate. Maybe we're dealing with a region-wide group of very generous Meowths?

A group of Meowths that are very good at hiding? I spent some time trying to find if there was a source other then the empty sky for the money and I didn't see anything strange. Neither did my pokemon.

A group of Meowths on Pidgeotback hiding above the very few clouds? Or maybe Arceus won at the Game Corner and wanted to share the spoils with us all. Who knows?
I admittedly haven't looked much for the source. One of the coins nearly hit me in the eye when I looked up, and getting that checked felt more important than investigating at the time.

I suppose this one of many odd occurrences that we seem to be having every few weeks.

Have you noticed that these strange occurrences seem to always happen on a Friday?

I did, to some degree, now that you say it. But why Fridays, over any other day? Why such a dangerous display of generosity?

I believe it has something to do with the inherent instability of this dimension. For example, it has been repeatedly proven that people and beings from other dimensions can be unwittingly transported to this dimension and back again, at seemingly random intervals. There could be some random variable causing this. Something unseen--a fluctuation of invisible energy that cycles every month that is otherwise undetectable by normal means. Or whatever keeps bringing new people to this dimension is also responsible for these odd events.

Alternatively, it could be that this dimension simply favors Fridays.

Thinking about it, I'm pretty sure those random intervals used to be far less random. And shorter, to boot. Newcomers were far more frequent. Could it be that whatever force grabs us has grown directionless, and has responded to that by causing odd effects in an attempt to return to its previous regularity?

I'll just be glad it doesn't prefer Mondays, then.

It was an inconvenience, most certainly, but I can only imagine that for those in need of some extra money it was something of a blessing.

I have yet to observe any reoccurrance of the phenomenon today, however, and I should think that we would have noticed, with the battling at the gym.

Good, that means we're definitely we're safe again. I'm sure plenty of people appreciate the extra change, but whatever being felt so generous yesterday could have distributed it in a less potentially dangerous manner.
Wait, does that mean the coins rained inside, too?

As far as the Collegiate Gym goes, yes, though I cannot speak as to other places. I had not thought of it, however, given that the gym's practice halls themselves are already equipped to simulate various weather conditions for training or battles.

*but really, is it all that surprising for it to rain coins indoors when a pokemon can use Rain Dance or Sunny Day in a building just fine?*

That eliminates the 'generous sneaky Meowth army' theory, then. Your facilities weren't too damaged, I hope? Some of the flowers in the neighborhood gardens suffered a tragic end, bludgeoned by relentless coins.

Maybe it's some money summoning spirit? I'm sure something like that exists in this dimension!

Even if we don't count Meowth's Pay Day, I can't even be certain something like that doesn't exist around here. You'd think the locals would all be training one, though.

That's a good point. :-( If this was a new Pokemon like those cute little guys that showed up earlier this year, you'd think we'd know about this by now.

Hey, you think this might be a new legendary?!

Could be. That little trick is definitely beyond a regular Pokémon, on this scale, but who knows what a critter with Arceus' firepower but control over money could do?
