'accidental' video ;; Diglett Tunnel

-- it's not that bad, we just need a flashlight.

[Comes Shiro's voice. The 'gear is pointed at the ground for the moment. Waving around awkwardly as the person holding it tries to figure out which end is up. In the process of righting it, the camera pans past a signpost.]

[DIGLETT TUNNEL AHEAD]

[And sure enough, once the camera is settled, viewers get a nice shot of Shiro's back. Peering down a dark tunnel. The camera-person scuttles forward, and judging from it's height and squeaks? This is Blue the Gallade, filming once again.]

[Once Blue draws even with Shiro, the man glances aside at his pokemon, scowling slightly.]

What are you filming this for? [There's some more squeaks. While Shiro's expression turns into a raised eyebrow.] What? No -- Heather's said a lot of things. That's what friends do, Blue. They talk.

[SQUEAK SQUEAKER SQUEAK]

We're checking it out, that's all. If we don't like it, we'll take the long way to the next town.

[And so, determinedly, Shiro fishes in his backpack, returning with a flashlight. Murmuring something to himself about paranoid Gallades... he shines the light into the cave. At the same time, Blue turns the camera to record the sight...]

[The sight of hundreds of eyes shining from ground level. Just like Heather Mason had warned them about, a long while back.]

[Shiro shouts something -- probably not PG rated -- and so does Blue. Shutting off the recording.]

Though judging by the name of the venue, Digletts seem like the most likely guess for these unidentified creatures.

But Digletts usually look so harmless. I didn't realize their eyes could glow in the dark like that.

Someone told me they did, a long time ago.

I guess I forgot about it until now.

Yyyyeah, you gotta be careful with the Digletts. They're not really aggressive, but they'll get up under you and kick your butt out of the tunnel if you don't watch where you step. Did they hurt you at all?

Well that's... comforting, thanks.

[He's not actually annoyed. Just that standard Shiro "this may as well be happening" tone.]

No, they didn't. We just got startled.

They were trying to build a dam nearby once, I think for a generator or something, but the Diglett weren't having it and they were never able to finish. They can upend whole buildings if they don't like where it is.

[Matt's mostly been just wandering along for the entire time, laughing and enjoying the little adventure with Shiro. He was ready for whatever came in this cave.... except eyeballs. He swears, something in some harsh alien language and reaches down, picking up Yuki, who had been wandering beside him, and putting her on his shoulder, and turning.]

... There are eyeballs, Shiro. Too many eyeballs.

Matt--!

[Well, they're both startled, but Matt almost bolts. So Shiro's moving to catch up with him. Put a hand on his shoulder. Immediately concerned and ready to do something to steady him.]

Matt, it's okay. They're Digletts. Little guys.

Everyone says they're harmless.

Oh.

[Yuki is chittering a laugh on Matt's shoulder, and Mimi is hovering her little ghost self around his ankles.]

All of you hush. I just... don't like a lot of eyeballs looking at me. There was this alien when I was in the work camp....

[He shivers. Too many eyes, man.]
