003: Video

[The video clicks on, Maya is standing by a window.]

I know people have been talking about the monsters from the portals acting friendlier this time around. Or not fighting them and then they'll leave?

Well, I ended up in a few fights with one when I was out walking and training. I kept beating it in battles and now I think it's following me.

Look, it's still out there. It'll probably attack if I go out.

[She'll turn the camera to show outside off in the distance. Yup it's a Buzzwole. Of course Maya would manage to get a Buzzwole to follow her around. She'll flip the camera back to her. She doesn't seem that worried, oddly enough.]

Anyone else have something like this happen? Or advice? I mean, I'll keep fighting it when it attacks, but somehow I don't think that's going to drive it off. Maybe a trap of some sort.

Nope, not a clue yet. I know the Type: Nulls don't like them. Connor's nearly blew a gasket near one, barked at it until it ran away.

The little new ones aren't too fond, either. Had three of them go missing just this past week because they made a run for it.

Yeah, you need five. Which means I probably won't be getting one.

Maybe they're scared the fucked up Pokemon are looking for them. Or they come from the same place.

Yeah, seems like it.

Could be that the Aether guys might have been experimenting on the interdimensional things and they just saw them around. Either way, they're really scared like it's some personal experience. That's not just the general scared I've been running into out in the wild.

Actually I haven't.

Which might be nothing. I've had fuck all time to watch TV, but I haven't seen them around.

I don't even know how the big guy at the Ruins is doing.

Honestly I think even here companies that big are bad news.

[After all, even kids games have to have impersonal, hatable villains.]

I wonder what happens if they get their hands on that thing. On a scale of badness of this world. I don't think it could get bad as yours or mine.

[He doesn't think, anyway? Here's hoping.]

I've found in life about seventy fucking percent of the time I hate being right. And aren't legendaries the ones that are supposed to grant wishes? Gave people a bunch of shiny fuckin' pokemon during prom?

But considering ten-year-olds in this world can kick ass with level one-goddamn-hundred level dragons I don't think they can get away with too much for too long.

[Though it makes him wish he was more capable with the fighting thing. He's just terrible at it. He's mostly done his in the wild and has focused on defense.]

Yeah, I met one.

Sorta punched him. Which isn't what you're supposed to do, but I did. They weren't that tough.

Honestly I can't take anything too seriously. That's the fuckin' worst part. Their version of a nightmare scenario is at worst a little bewildering for me. Which is great for this world but goddamn. I can legitimately say, "I don't trust somebody" and then follow it up with "whatever..."

You know, sometimes I worry that he's right. Considering how many kids get kicked out to go searching for their fuckin' Pokedestiny, I wonder how many realized they couldn't cut it and went Rocket.

[He doesn't know if he punched a teenager or a grown ass person.]

Guess getting their ass whooped is a hard life lesson to learn. [But maybe necessary.]

I guess I should try and take this corp a little more seriously, though. Don't want shitty ethics to actually ruin this place for the people that need it to stay good, you know? [The ones like Newt or Heather.]

Guess we're lucky that we're in the one place where someone won't be put in the ground for ratting someone out.

Now, they might get their pokemon stolen, which is almost just as bad here. But still... better chance than usual.

[Breaking the fuck in has not occurred to him, to be honest. Given his experiences, it really should.]
