[Shiro's gear turns on while outdoors. On the beach. It's clear they're in the middle of a training session, with various members of his pokemon team sitting along a makeshift battlefield -- you know, the big rectangle with the circle in the middle. Made out of driftwood and seaweed.]

[And the entire gang is wearing the same mildly distressed expression.]

[Shiro, wielding the camera one-handed thanks to the sling on the other arm, slowly pans over to where his ... uh. Archen. Exists.]

Does... does anyone know if this guy is okay?

[Because the little bird-dinosaur sure doesn't really look like it. Its flailing is kicking up sand and bits of shells everywhere. Shiro's Litleo starts edging away from the other pokemon, eyes wide and ears slicked back.]

He's been acting like this since he hatched. We're all a little... concerned.

[WHY IS IT LIKE THIS, POKEMON WORLD.]

... you know, if I didn't know better, I'd think you're talking about Keith.

[ What is it about the rainbow hair that makes it deceptively easy to say hugely informal things to Shiro? Hm. ]

Hah! You're... actually not that far off. He's named after Lance's Lion -- Blue.

[... yeah no one's told him about the Great Lion Shuffle.]

[ Phew, he's just glad he didn't get told off for this one, even though it was rude. And very correct, but that's besides the point.

Blue...? No, nevermind. If he's anything like Lance, I imagine there's a lot of energy there.

[Look, he knows Keith okay. He cares about him -- like any older brother, he knows his faults, too.]

[So, it wasn't THAT rude...]

Oh, definitely. Lance is his hero, in fact.

[ James has a hard time imagining Lance being anybody's hero, but then again, James has always been a judgmental type. ]

Is he actually imitating...?

Oh, he absolutely is.

[He swings the 'gear around to show the sidelines, with his pokemon. Where Blue is swaggering up to Red -- Shiro's Incineroar. Who refuses to even look at the Gallade.]

... Or he tries to, anyway.

[ And at that, James actually lets out a chuckle. Though he doesn't know Lance all that well, the gallade next to the inceneror looks just like he imagines Lance and Shiro to look on an average day. ]

Oh boy, good luck to Blue.

You just said the phrase heard most often in this house.

[He's also laughing -- because it's true. It really is.]
