[Shiro's gear turns on while outdoors. On the beach. It's clear they're in the middle of a training session, with various members of his pokemon team sitting along a makeshift battlefield -- you know, the big rectangle with the circle in the middle. Made out of driftwood and seaweed.]

[And the entire gang is wearing the same mildly distressed expression.]

[Shiro, wielding the camera one-handed thanks to the sling on the other arm, slowly pans over to where his ... uh. Archen. Exists.]

Does... does anyone know if this guy is okay?

[Because the little bird-dinosaur sure doesn't really look like it. Its flailing is kicking up sand and bits of shells everywhere. Shiro's Litleo starts edging away from the other pokemon, eyes wide and ears slicked back.]

He's been acting like this since he hatched. We're all a little... concerned.

[WHY IS IT LIKE THIS, POKEMON WORLD.]

Oh! If I remember correctly, I believe Keith had that same Pokemon before it evolved.

Its behavior reminds me of how Keith's used to act. I think it's inherently a little...troubled.

[ It's Allura and Blaytz, as usual, but Blaytz seems to have grown up quite a bit. Rather than perching in her lap as he used to, he's seated behind her with his head resting atop hers. ]

Oh dear. It does seem rather distressed, doesn't it? Maybe if you put a blanket over it, it might calm down.

[But he is a bit. Concerned. Regardless. It just doesn't seem right.]

[Especially since the thing has started flopping on its side, until Skarmory flicks it back upright again.]

[It looks like a dinosaur. And Skarmory is regarding the weird little guy with a healthy amount of disdain. Um, no. That is not a bird, Armin.]

No amount of pep talks really gets this out of them. I've seen Keith try.

[ They haven't been camping together but they have also not not been camping together, so it's hard to not be aware of certain things. ]

Other shy Pokémon sometimes get along with it fine. That's my experience at least.

[That's interesting for a lot of reasons. Last time he'd spoken to Keith on the subject, he wasn't interested in interacting with James at all. Apparently, things have changed a little. Good --]

[It's also interesting because the mental image of Keith giving pep talks to a dinosaur with its face in the sand is kind of hilarious.]

I wish I could've seen that. [He's actually smiling, it's a miracle.] But thanks -- maybe I'll have the others talk to him.

[Riku chuckles, shaking his head as he recalls his own.]

Maybe it's because they're a prehistoric species? I'd say just give yours something to do. Mine likes to hoard shiny objects, but your mileage may vary.

Is the little one eating and drinking like normal? Playing? Engaging with other Pokémon and people?

Eating and drinking, sure. I... don't know about the rest of it. Whenever it's out, it just does --

[He turns around, with the 'gear to reveal the Archen sort of spinning in circles, then flopping face down in the sand until someone rights it.]

[And starting over again.]

He seems significantly distressed. Perhaps a quiet place may prove beneficial?
