I have an inquiry of all of you. How do you calm your Pokemon down when they're upset? It seems I... have upset one of mine terribly, and I need a bit of advice.
I'd say that depends. I don't feel like I have one particular method that works for all of my pokemon. Both my Piloswine and Camerupt, for example, are very food-focused pokemon. In the event of any disagreements between us, I believe an apology along with a tasty treat would help calm them down. But that sort of method would not work at all for my Dragalge. She is very proud and definitely needs some time to herself before I can make my apologies. Sometimes I call on my other pokemon to help out. My Vileplume can create a very pleasant scent that can help ease tensions and my Sobble is starting to become quite the little mediator.
Is there anything you have tried yet? Or anything you can share about what happened or your pokemon's personality?
[ It's vague because he's incredibly embarrassed. ]
Ah, food is an excellent idea. I haven't tried that, quite yet; I placed her back in her ball for now until [ his ego and face recover ] I can figure something out.
... Well, she is a Hattrem. It seems that species in particular is quite... sensitive to "strong emotions."
[ Who allowed him, in particular, to have this egg? What a good question. ]
Considering her species, which is sensitive to strong emotions, which cause her to lash out... well, I'm sure you can puzzle out what happened, exactly.
Well, the easiest way is to just use a move like Hypnosis and force them to sleep, but... longterm viability's an issue.
I guess it really depends on what the problem is. If you've got a Psychic type, you could always have them translate for you, but otherwise I'd just watch the Pokemon's body language and try to approach as calmly as possible.

A Hattrem? I can't say I'm familiar with that kind of pokemon. Is it one of those new pokemon from the eggs we got in December?
text;
Yes, she is. Initially, she was merely skittish, but now she's quite... outspoken.

She is newly evolved; perhaps that's why she's fairly more sensitive to them.

Sometimes it's stuff from home, some of it's stuff I've heard here, sometimes I'll just make one up about whatever's going on, you know.

She is a Psychic type; I wasn't aware they could do that, actually. Perhaps it's worth a try to simply ask her how I can alleviate this.
[ The solution is actually pretty simple: chill. ]

So, if you can get past the whole "they are literally talking to me inside my head" angle, it's definitely worth looking into.

Some of them like flowers.
Some are more about food.
Some just need a good talking-to before they back down.
Just what did you do to get the thing so riled up in the first place?

I've considered food and talking; flowers may be a last resort, if nothing else works.
