1st Match // [video | action] New Bark Town

[The video feed starts off with an eye.

Just one, surrounded by what looks like a mask. After a moment, the eye pulls away and the rest of the mask, which completely covers the owner's face minus the one eye, is revealed.

The voice underneath the mask is guttural and growling, but perfectly audible despite the barrier.]

Mother said to have fun and be careful.

[He rolls his eye and grumbles a bit, quietly at first but quickly growing louder. As he speaks he changes from his indoor voice to his outdoor voice, barking out the words louder and louder as he brings the camera close to his face again:]

How can I HAVE FUN WITHOUT MY AXE!??

[Somebody mad.]

Anyway, we're... we're clear now, right, that I'm not Jack? So... please don't kill me? Because I've already had way too many people try to kill me on Elpis and I'd really like to avoid it here at least.

[He squints, twitches gently, and grumbles briefly. He remembers this guy's story, now. Athena had shared it during her time spent tied to a stake in Sanctuary. He hadn't paid a lot of attention to those parts, because they tended to be lacking in explosions and senseless violence, but he remembers now. She'd called him something...What had it been...?]

[He lets out a pleased little giggle, proud that he's recalled the word.

Then he nods, a single, upward jerk of his chin.]

Won't harm you. Only the deserving are eviscerated.

[Like Handsome Jack.]

Um... Yeah? I mean, that's one word for what I am, sure.

[It almost seems like he means it as something very... specific, though. That was definitely one name that popped up a lot during the Elpis mission, sure, but... Well, whatever.]

Oh, that's... good? I think? [Hey, so long as he's not one of the deserving, it's all good.] But uh, thanks. Glad we got that sorted...

[Krieg doesn't really do names. Nicknames are more his style, and he's just pegged Tim's.

Just be glad it's not "Jimothy"?]

[He says in what is probably the world's most menacing croon.]

[Hey, it's better than just being called "Jack" all the time, he's cool with it.]

[Still a Psycho. A... slightly more reasonable one than expected, but even so.]

...What's your history with Jack, anyway?

[Will he even get an understandable answer? Who knows. But hey, might as well try.]

[He hasn't even begun to pull the creepy card yet, Tim.

[He growls and grumbles a bit at that question...It's a very long and kind of complicated story that Athena could probably relate better than Krieg. But, he'll try!!]

Was looking for a Vault and that pissed him off. Tried to kill us a lot but aaaaaalways failed.

We finally killed him, instead!!

[...Yup. There's your cliff-notes version. That's some A+ story-telling there, Krieg old buddy.]

[He quickly flips this to private, because this isn't a conversation Jack should be seeing.]

So you were there. You... You watched him... [This is still so weird...] He's seriously dead.

Mnuhahaha...We stripped his mask and spit on his grave!!

[And yeah, alright, Athena already told him Jack's dead. And it's not like he didn't believe her, but she hadn't been there and with all these... weird things going on with this place, it was hard to be sure. But actually seeing the corpse, well. That's something else.]

[Is there even much danger of that? Maybe not. But let's just be on the safe side here.]

[Krieg literally has never met someone who doesn't hate Jack. He's somehow very unsurprised that Jack's doppelganger hates him, too. (Too bad he's going to be unpleasantly surprised by so many of the people in this world :'D)

And...well. That. That whole thing with Lilith? That's complicated. He shakes his head.]

[His eye narrows and he growls wordlessly at the memory.]

Saved her, but she couldn't fight anymore.

[He lets out a satisfied little laugh here, though.]

She got to witness the end.

Thanks, uh... Sorry, what's your name, anyway?

[He definitely seems different than what he knows of Psychos. And can apparently keep a secret, which is good news for him.]

...Christ. That's fucked up. I mean, even for him. I know he hates her guts, but damn. [She definitely didn't deserve that. At least she made it out alive apparently.] But hell, even her just being there would infuriate him. That's still something.

[Well, Jack is a pretty fucked up guy. Even the Psycho thinks he's a psychopath. How messed up is that?

And yeah, Jack was pretty pissed off at the end of it all. It was great! Good times, man.]

[That's him, that's his name!]

Okay... Well, uh, nice to meet you? I think.

[He still can't really believe he's having an actual conversation with this guy. Wow.]

...This'd be the part where I'd introduce myself, but uh. Seeing as the only name I'm allowed to give you is Jack... Doppelganger will do just fine. Or just... anything, I don't really care.

["Allowed", huh? Weird.]
