Thankfully that Lance had the presence of mind to slap down a nice fat deposit to tempt the Eterna City Resort Hotel staff into setting aside the best and biggest table they have for a long overdue Team Voltron bonding session before going upstairs and blowing the rest of his trainer's savings on a room for him and Pidge for the next two weeks.

Unfortunately for all, this means that they're all on their own for whatever they eat and drink, including what Lance eats and drinks (But isn't that why one has a spouse to pay their portion of the bill?) Everybody can say Lance loves the finer things in life and that his tastes run to the pricier side of them, but no one can say he's much of an event planner. Or a planner at all.

That is why he's the one sending out dinner invites to the team, not leading them into war.

I probably would have choked on air honestly. You just ... really caught me off guard.

[But he's almost laughing too, as he says it. Hopefully that helps drive the point home. How could he be angry? They're doing what he'd always hoped they'd have the chance to do, here.]

When did it happen? [Spill the juicy deets, Pidge.] Because, you know I'm going to have to give Lance a "talk", for this.

[The blush deepens slightly and Pidge has to bite back her smile, lowering her gaze to where she's fiddling with the rings on her finger.] A few months ago. I just figured it made sense to get the legal stuff done and then we could spend time planning the whole party portion of it. No time wasted or anything, I guess. [Surprise again, it was Pidge's idea?]

That is... probably the most Pidge thing I've ever heard you say before.

[He's unable to keep the grin off his face. The look of pride all over his expression.]

[A hand on her shoulder.]

Let me guess. Lance is doing the party part.

[Busted. Pidge at least looks the tiniest bit ashamed, mostly of how predictable she apparently is.] It's important to him that it get done right. And he's better at it than I am.

Honestly, I think Lance is better at it than any of us. Look what he pulled together here, after all.

[That does make her smile a little.] Yeah, I know. I'm proud of him for it, honestly.

[His smile turns incredibly wry, though.]

But... [That is one lengthy, dramatic pause.] I'm going to have to spook the crud out of Lance for this.

[Her smile grows a little more as she barely keeps herself from just full on beaming. Shiro's proud of them, and that's about all the validation she could ask for. Of course that pause has her expression faltering slightly, because dammit Shiro it scares her for a second. But then she smirks a little, mischief in her eyes.] Well, that's a given. Make sure he properly soils himself, too.

[Well, Pidge is pulling a lot of expressions from him today. First the shock, then the pride, and now?]

[Now he's straight up laughing.]

You're dealing with him afterward. You sure you want me to do that?

Hey, I draw a hard line at doing his diapers.

[She's grinning, mighty pleased with herself. It's good to see Shiro laugh. It feels like it's been forever.]

[Speaking of ruining he moment, here comes Lance to make it worse. Just with his mere presence. He's grinning stupidly up at Shiro who he playfully punches in his flesh arm with a skinny fist, while his left hand, the one with the ring that matches one of Pidge's comes to lie at the small of her back.]

Seriously, dude. Did you have to make a speech? It's a dinner, not a graduation.

[Ignore him. He's loving the name drop and attention right now.]

[You're welcome for this, Pidge. For ruining the moment. And probably any grey hair Lance may walk away from this with.]

I think... you and I need to have a talk. [He is putting so much seriousness into those words. So much. Shiro deserves an oscar for this performance.] About you and Pidge.

[Sorry, Lance. Pidge is absolutely playing along, nodding sagely at Shiro's words even while leaning into his side. She'll even grab up a glass of water to take a sip from, closing her eyes and totally maintaining a cool face the whole time. No one should ever play poker with her. They'll lose miserably.]

You're overreacting, Shiro. [She says it as if there is something Very Serious happening right now.] It's fine.

[He's answering Shiro, but looking down at Pidge, grin sliding right off his face before shifting into confusion. What could this be about? Oh god... Matt's pissed about them being a thing and Shiro has to be the bearer of bad news, right? That's what it is, isn't it? Unless it's one other possibility...

Eyes back on Shiro, wide with panic.]

I didn't get her pregnant! We use condoms!

[Most of the time, anyway. Unless Pidge has something to confess to Lance herself.]

[Pidge is making it extremely difficult to keep a straight face. He was doing just fine until she spoke up, even sipping her drink - he's going to die trying not to laugh.]

No, I think it needs to be said. It's not -

[And thus, for the second time tonight, Shiro chokes. Though, this time, it's not on his fancy lemonade. It's on the very air itself. Such is the strength of Lance's panicked exclamation. His expression goes from flatly serious to "Slav Will Not Shut Up" in record time before he manages to sputter, strained:]

That's! Not what I! That's - No! I didn't think that!

[Shiro may be choking on air, but now it's definitely Pidge's turn to choke on her drink. Thank goodness it's just water, because she can't imagine how much something citrusy would burn on its way into her nose. She sputters and coughs, face hot with embarrassment, then immediately jabs an elbow into Lance's gut because What The Fuck kind of conclusion is that to jump to?!] LANCE. Can't you keep your voice down for two seconds?! [She has to actually grab up a napkin to press her face into, blowing the water out of her nose and sniffling. Someone end her suffering.]

[No, Pidge, he cannot. Do you even know your husband? You know this guy has a shaky interpretation of what an inside voice is. Geez.]

Then what is it? I don't know what the Jennys told you, but we didn't do anything, I swear!

[Anything important, that is. Except for one thing that was really important and it somehow slipped Lance's mind to notify anybody about it. Also, thank Arceus that Lance was never held hostage by the Galra and interrogated because he wouldn't be worth the ransom money with these loose lips.]

[Pidge is going to continue quietly sputtering into her napkin, exclusively to leave Lance as the only one who can vocally respond to Shiro. She's got a nose full of water to clean out, okay.

[Yeah, that does mean a lot to him, but Lance doesn't expect Shiro to bring up that topic. He doesn't remember telling anybody and last time Lance checked, Blue can't speak human, so there's only one culprit to this situation. Now those wide blue eyes are turned on Pidge, the love of Lance's life, pleading for help, an explanation, anything at all to pull him out of the fire.]

I, uh, I gotta go check on the food. I'll be right back.

[Lance is just gonna scoot ight over here towards wherever he thinks the restaurant's kitchen is like he works here or something. Look at them, leaving each other hanging. Is this how marriage really works?]

[... Uh oh. That's The Voice. The one he only uses when someone is in the Deep Sh$t. Or something along those lines.]

[He reaches out to snag Lance's collar. Gently pulling him back toward the little bubble of conversation. No way - this is for Pidge. He's not going to let you get away so easily sir.]

We need to have a talk about this. You're not going anywhere.

[pidge_out]

[When Lance looks to her, she doesn't even give him an "Oops I messed up" face. She just finishes wiping that napkin down her face, instead throwing Shiro a "You're being ridiculous" face. And before Lance can try to get away she grabs at his hand to hold him back, in pretty much the same instance Shiro does.]

Shiro, come on. It's not that big a deal.

[Look, hubby! She's got your back now and everything!]
