[Don't question why this dipshit is doing this video outside with a mudbray leaning against his side and... well, at least the krabby is still on his shoulder and a crabrawler is sitting on the other shoulder looking quite pleased with herself.]
Right, so an interesting question came up in a conversation with one of the people I'm travelling with.
This place is quite odd as it is, as are these creatures, I know back home that horses were the primary mode of transportation. Whether by riding, carts, caravans, etc. In this place, is that still the case or are some other creatures used for those types of tasks...?
[He's shifting the camera to look at the mudbray who looks a little surprised to have the camera at her and is immediately bucking back with a loud little whinny. Lovely.]
Clearly she isn't much yet, but according to the guide on these creatures, she'll somehow turn into a draft horse...? Weird, but clearly knights and draft horses are quite one in the same in how they operate. But yes, if you happen to know any other creatures suitable for riding, please do let me know.

She waits until he's done recording his video, then wheels herself over, Pokedex in her lap. ]
Oh, Fitzroy, that reminds me! You know that little electric ghost one I caught? The one that's like a flying red diamond shaped thing? [ Rotom, she means Rotom. ] The guide says they can possess machines and power them, so I was thinking... I'm going to try to get Buzz to power my chair!
no subject
For fun? Psssh.
Though he doesn't turn his attention to her rather quickly, hearing the wheelchair first and knowing she's the only one it could be.]
The electric ghost... Oh! Yes, I do remember you telling me about that one. Though, ah, perhaps it might be a better idea to do it a little at a time? Just in case it's too much for just that one little creature? [He's running on principle of the same thing with horses, you break them in and go slowly. Not just full on riding them, that's dumb and dangerous.]
no subject
[ She doesn't want to overwhelm the poor thing just so she doesn't have to push herself everywhere. ]
I have a feeling it might be slow going anyway... They seem to be a little, uh. Distractable.
no subject
Of course, that's the best course of action.
[... Hm.]
You... you aren't incorrect in that assumption. But considering the little thing is pretty much mostly electricity, I can't say I'm very surprised.
no subject
[ Thunderman, Thunder Wave... ]
no subject
[Ron's oversized Furret pokes his head into the frame, speaking his species name in a somewhat serious tone.]
That's him, by the way.
no subject
Luckily he's only crinkling his nose at him for but a moment while Sippers 2.0 foams at the mouth as krabby are wont to do.]
Good to know but I'm going to pass on giant rodents.
no subject
no subject
Is a ferret not a rodent? Genuine question, fairly certain those do not exist where I'm from.
no subject
Trust me, I know how rodents work. One of my best friends is a naked mole rat.
no subject
[Wait, back up.]
A naked what now?
no subject
no subject
Thank you, Ron, he's just extremely confused and also noting down every single thing he should be avoiding from now on. He already had to deal with woodland skeletons, this is all getting to be too much.]
I suppose the bonus part in this... situation... is that they aren't animated skeletons. At least there's that going for this and them. It could be worse. But, uh, note... ed?
no subject
threadjack!
[ Hi, have a suddenly hopeful looking blonde woman with a Pachirisu sitting on the back of her wheelchair. She's the one responsible for those animated rodent skeletons Fitzroy mentioned. ]
Re: threadjack!
no subject
Don't get me wrong, I love my ghost pokemon, but I do miss my skeleton pals...

[Haha what is self control.]
no subject
Aww, look, it's someone that looks like they came out the other end of a Xorn.
no subject
[There's rules to this, gosh.]
no subject
He raises a finger in a "one moment" gesture before fishing some paper and a pen out of a bag before drawing a rough sketch and holding it up to the screen.]
That's a xorn.
But if you prefer insults more on your level, then I suppose the easier way of saying it is you look like shit.
no subject
[He huffs.]
At least you can draw, looks just like your mom.
I'm mad this insult is canon.
[That's a problem for future Fitzroy to deal with, after all.
And he'd been fine going to most neutral until he comments on his mother, sorry, Dandy, you found a sore spot.]
My mother is a saint, thank you very much. Unlike yours, I'm sure. Since you turned out to be an absolute dildo.
and you thought awful squad would jump in to stop FITZ lmao...
>:(
no subject
no subject
[And then he stops.]
Wait...no...then that would imply my mom is the... hm... Didn't think that one all the way through.
no subject
You know what, I'm going to put a temporary pause on this insult game because, uh, honestly, I'm embarrassed for you. Get back to me when you think of a better insult and we'll go from there, hm?
[The worst part is that he's not even saying that as a slight against him, he genuinely means this.]
no subject
You can use flying Pokemon if you have the Zephyr badge!
no subject
I can't say I have any plans for these "gym" things. Which is why I was asking about riding Pokemon. I already know how things with wings work.
no subject
Not all flying Pokemon have wings so there's some that can fly even if they don't look like they can! You could also ride a bike, but that's not a Pokemon, it's a... thing?
[Machine? Vehicle? Gadget?]
Oh, and Rollerblades!
no subject
... Then how does it fly if it doesn't have wings? I mean, I guess it could be a spell or something... [He does remember The Feather Fall Incident, so that could be it, right?]
Also what's a bike. Or rollerblades. What. [Welcome to his world is weird and stupid.]
no subject
[She's not touching the topic of spells. If there's anything Sasha knows less about how Pokemon without wings can fly, it's magic.]
A bike is.... is... [She's glancing around for a method of explanation because words fail her now. Luckily, a passerby flies by on one and she whips around on her wheeled feet, throwing the entire scene into a mini-tornado as she turns the 'gear toward the cyclist.] That! And rollerblades are these!
[And now the 'gear is pointed downwards to show her feet clad in the wheeled contraptions. All through this, Sasha hasn't once stopped rolling. Sorry for your motion sickness, sir.]
no subject
Oh, okay. He's... seen bikes before, just hadn't known a name from the people going around them in this place. And the rollerblades are new.
Interesting. And proves the theory that they do have other ways than just walking.]
I... I see. Then I suppose the walking everywhere thing is a mostly moot point. But it still doesn't change the fact that it seems to be the primary method for reasons I'll never understand. [Walking long distances sucks.]
no subject
I guess people are just used to walking? It's what we did where I'm from if we didn't have a horse.
[Because what was transportation in the backwoods? Those folks were lucky if they even saw a boat, much less a train.]
Also if you walk, it's easier to find wild Pokemon to catch. Some of them hide in the bushes and if you're just riding by them, you'll miss them!
no subject
Mm. I guess so? Though with how plentiful these creatures are, it seems rather odd that people would prefer walking.
[Though he supposes she has a point on the catching wild Pokemon point. He hadn't exactly thought about that.]
That would make sense if someone wants to catch more of these creatures, I've been particularly picky myself, so I hadn't put my thought or stock into that. But that is a good point...
no subject
[What pops up on the video is the sight of an actual Christmas-type sleigh situated on a sunny beach in Olivine, hooked up to.... rats.]
[Four Raticate, as a matter of fact, each of them large enough for a child to ride - maybe even a small or young teenager. In the case of one especially fluffy specimen, the harness seems to almost disappear into her fur.]
Back when we all first started, a more horse-like steed wasn't yet available to us in Violet City. Back then, I managed to purchase a sled for us to put our items on. Around Goldenrod, it is easier... And that is around when we managed to purchase a used sleigh! It was the holiday season, you see.
[And sleighs apparently have to do with Christmas. After having met Santa Claus, Dimitri can see why.]
For short distances, two of my Raticate can pull it on my own, but having all four of them work on it makes it far easier! The harnesses are easy enough to adjust to other Paliens as well.
[Dimitri sounds so proud and fond...... He loves them]
no subject
I would question your decision of abnormally large rodents, but you seem like you're fond, so I'll skip over that part for the time being.
A sleigh is certainly a new one, that's not something I'd... think of in a situation that doesn't have, say, snow or ice. But then this place seems to have the weirdest topography from dessert, mountains, ice... I do wonder the practicality of how one would travel with something that might be able to handle the majority of the terrains...
[He's noting this all down for later, because he's getting more ideas. The bonuses of having a fantasy caravaner for a father, probably.]
But do tell on how difficult it might be to obtain such a thing.
no subject
[Dimitri sometimes feels self conscious about it, but also sometimes he doesn't care. They're Good Rats, Fitzroy]
At any rate, I do agree that it is not a vehicle which does well outside of snow, or sand. However, we arrived in the midst of fall, and then quickly into winter. It, combined with its sled predecessor, did us well for five cities here in Johto. This includes going through a few snowstorms - we could cover the top of it with a tarp, offering brief shelter.
[For people or their belongings? Yes.]
However, unless you know a craftsman, it can be difficult to find a sleigh... Especially in the warmer months.
Here in Johto, they celebrate a winter holiday called 'Christmas', and it is heralded by a hero named Santa Claus. He steers a brilliantly red sleigh, pulled by a powerful Stantler, and it is loaded with gifts that are bestowed upon those who have done good deeds throughout the year. As far as I can tell, sleighs are popular in the winter for this reason, and some people dress as Santa to help spread good will and as a show of respect.
We were fortunate to find an old and used sleigh that one such person was looking to replace, and he was glad to sell it to us because of that. We had to inquire quite a bit about such a thing before we found it... I am afraid I would not know where you would find a newly made one, and it would no doubt be expensive.
video;
As far as flyers go, um... The best one is the one that's big enough to carry you and listen to you? [ He rubs the back of his neck; apparently this advice comes from a hard learning experience that may or may not be ongoing. ] I have a couple of dragons I use but my friend has a steel bird called a Corviknight! All of 'em would probably look awesome for a knight!
You're really a knight where you're from?
[ Kirishima leans in a bit, eyes widening with boyish interest. ]
video;
Corviknight. I mean, the name knight is right in the title, I'll have to look into what the details about this particular creature is as my team has... well, a particular theme I've been going with. That most no one else would understand.
[KIRISHIMA, YOU ARE PRECIOUS. And you let him preen, he can accept this.]
I am, yes! Or, well, a knight in absentia for the time being as I was a student on a path to become a villain back home. Which, before you get the wrong idea, isn't... what it sounds like. [He's Learned how people react to the words hero and villain.]
no subject
W- Well what does it mean to you, then? You went to school to be a villain?!
[ Okay, he's willing to listen, but he definitely looks guarded. ]
no subject
Okay. So where I'm from there's a hero and villain system of sorts, where kingdoms will have their own hero or villain, usually of the former. They pretty much protect things on top of tourism and attracting attention. Usually this includes villains coming around to "ruin" things, but there's a code in place of what can and cannot be done both from heroes and villains. So it's... more of an act sort of thing. And it really depends on what your magic, looks, that kind of thing tends to lend towards.
Like one of my friends here was a necromancer back home and despite being one of the nicest people on this planet, was considered a villain because, you know, raising the dead and what-not. Same thing in my case, though simply because using thunder magic and being as big and imposing looking as I am physically, that's how it works out.
[It sounds so stupid when he explains it.]
There's really a whole system around it and it has absolutely nothing to do with someone's moral code. There's been cases of heroes being unable to be them anymore because they did awful things against the code.
[Whoof, give him a sec to catch his breath.]
While I might be classified as such, I have absolutely no intentions of, say, harming people or destroying things.
no subject
There are places where I'm from like cities, businesses, and theme parks that have characters represent them, but they're just actors if they even actually exist off paper...
[ He'd explain more about how the heroes in his world more or less have to merchandise to stay popular, but maybe in due time. He's more concerned with clarifying what the crab-keeper here is saying.
There's a head-rearing double-take at that oh-so casual 'raising the dead' bit. And then there's a pair of red eyes scanning over where Fitzroy must be in relation to the camera because physically imposing where, bro? At least he's already looking furrow-browed and confused enough as it is to not give that particular thought away. Kirishima doesn't actually want to be rude.
He's frowning, but he definitely relaxes a good deal when it's explicit that Fitzroy doesn't harm people, or at least so he says. ]
Especially since you're not in your world anymore... You don't have to be anything you don't want to.
It sounds like you're saying you get judged on your looks and your Quir- your abilities. Who decides who looks like a villain and who doesn't?
