VIDEO - 13TH - OUTSIDE VIRIDIAN FOREST (PEWTER SIDE)
[Is it Halloween already?? No that can’t be right, it hasn’t even been summer. And yet, sitting in what definitely looks a fair amount like a pumpkin tent on wheels is Emporio- who to be fair looks as he normally does these days in his trainer garb, though who knows how long before Maria convinces him to dress up a bit- and...well, Maria, who for her part has a magnificent hat on.
Emporio for his part, looks nervous. Maria just seems relatively happy.]
Hi everyone! Uhh...well, I guess I have news again?
Uu-uu! Emporio won a badge a while ago! When Maria got her official witches hat uu-uu!
[There’s a small, albeit nervous laugh.]
I’d actually tried sending a video about it right there, but it was kind of cloudy so I was worried we’d get caught in the rain...so I tried sending it when we reached the woods instead, but I guess the signal didn’t work. We were held up by swanna at the end of the forest too- has anyone else had a problem with those?
[Well, that aside.]
Anyway, here it is- it’s Blue’s Badge! [Whoo! Viridian City!] We’re in Pewter now-
We have to get to Fuchsia right away though!
Aaaaah, I don’t know about right away…
They announced it though! A ‘magical place full of smiles’! [Ah, the amusement park…]
We’re pretty far though, and it doesn’t feel right to skip what we see here… ...Oh, on that note, we’re both probably going to try the gym challenge here, but is there anything else people think we should see? I know there’s a museum, but there’s probably more than that right?

[Personally, he wouldn't, but he's well aware of the power enthusiastic little girls hold over others.]
Can't leave Pewter without trying the little pasta restaurant two streets north of the Pokémon Center, though. Their noodles are great, but their dessert buffet is exquisite.
VIDEO
[Spared by travel limitations.] That sounds pretty easy to take some time for though...
[Dessert buffet, ey?]
VIDEO
[And boring, admittedly. Less glamorous than the cycling road.]
Can't go wrong with most restaurants around here, honestly. I've been trying as many as I can and I'v yet to be disappointed.

...I don't think we can bring our little carriage through it at easy actually...I mean, it's no easier in any cave, but the tunnel is higher traffic than...
[Well. The short cut.
Anyway.] Well, we'll be sure to stop by a few then! Thanks for the recommendation!
no subject
[He wouldn't put it past the Diglett to do it deliberately, either.]
You're welcome! I hope you'll enjoy your visit. This city may not be the biggest or flashiest around, but it's a nice place to live.
no subject
[The tunnels were made by onix right? Yeah.]
Thanks! We definitely will- at the very least, I want to try that dessert bar you mentioned now after all.
no subject
[Like their lives. Their Pokémon. The length of their commute.]
It'll be worth it, I promise. I personally recommend their mille-feuille, it's the best I've ever tasted.
no subject
[Bow could handle it! ...But yeah the commute length would still suck.]
I'm looking forward to it then! Thanks again!
no subject
[Then again, if Emporio's ready for Brock he probably has options.]
No problem! Tell your friends about the place if you enjoy it, it deserves all the publicity it can get.
no subject
I'll make sure to do that though. [From there he'll leave the guy to talk to Maria- she definitely seems excited to hear about desserts after all.]
Re: [video]
[That's definitely the magic word to summon Maria to the video comments.]
Maria loves sweets! Sweets are the best foot of all! Is there cake? And chocolate? And candy?
[This answer is a bit useless, though, so he carries on.]
They offered pastries and baked goods, mostly, rather than chocolate bars and bags of candy. Cupcakes, little fruit pies and the like.
Re: [video]
We have to go there! [She's gonna go tug on Emporio's sleeves now, which she can because they're both in the same place, more or less.] Emporio, we gotta go there!
Fear not. They've been in business for years, they'll still be there tonight or tomorrow or next week. But why wait when dessert is right around the corner, right?
Re: [video]
[Maria's sweet tooth is a very keen one.]
Re: [video]
[So there.]
no subject
( forgive her, she's maria's big sister now so she's gotta dote! )
But even if you're super excited to get someplace, it's important to enjoy the time it takes to get there too, y'know?
no subject
[Move fast, also enjoy, so on, so on...]
no subject
( in truth that bit of advice was more for miss eager, but whatevs. at least they seem to be doing good. )
Congrats on the badge, by the way. I hear he's tough.
no subject
I kind of made it harder for myself to begin with, so I'm glad I made it...
no subject
( scoping out the enemy already, jinx? girl you're still workin on the johto badges... )
no subject
So I picked pokemon that didn't really have any advantages one way or another- in a way some of them had them I guess, but for the most part they didn't.
no subject
(jinx voice) ive had maria for a day and a half but if anything happened to her--
( note to self: eviscerate rockets. maybe she should see about teaching maria some of her favorite self defense tricks next time they're together. )
You'll have to tell me all about that amusement park, okay? I'm counting on you to find the best things to do there.
the perennial maria experience
I promise I'll tell you everything about the amusement park!

Congratulations Emporio! I've heard that's one of the harder gyms to challenge! Was it a tough battle? Which pokemon did you take?
I've been debating trying some of the gyms here in Kanto while I'm here, and now that I have some of my old pokemon back.
[Cue a stampede of pokemon crowding around the screen and pushing Hermione completely out of the way. Honestly, what was with her pokemon and the pokegear?
Umbra, her Mismagius, is admiring Maria's pretty hat, and deciding she also wants a pretty pink witch hat. Despite the fact she already has a hat.
Meanwhile Pepon, her Pumpkaboo, is excited about the pumpkin tent. It was like it was made for him. He really wants to meet Emporio and Maria. Like right now. And maybe live with them in that tent like a big happy (although possibly a bit squishy) family.
Emporio and Maria might also notice the extreme close up eye of a Flygon, the wing of an Alteria and the tail of her Milotic somewhere in the frame.]
Okay, this is ridiculous! You all need to back up so they can at least see you properly, not just crowd the screen! Honestly...
no subject
I wanted to really work with what most don't really think of- so, normally you would want to try type advantages, and things like that...but there's some neat tricks that some pokemon can do! Like Eiscue! I used Lego to fight Gyarados, because when Eiscue uses 'Freeze Dry', it's actually super effective against water type! And since Gyarados is Water-Flying, that made it extra effective!
[As he rambles, the other pokemon slowly start filling the screen. Oh dear! Oh Dear!
By the time he looks up-] Uh-
Are you okay over there?
no subject
Gah. Yes, yes I'm fine. It hasn't been that long since I got them back and they're still, well, pretty excitable.
[Except Cyto, her Reuniclus. He's been mad at her since she got him back, even though it hadn't been her fault she'd left them in the first place.]
That sounds like a really solid tactic! What other pokemon did the leader have? Did you have any difficulties beating any of them? What other kinds of tactics and pokemon did you use?
[Hermione has managed to produce a notebook from who knows where, and is poised to take notes. Any information will come in super handy if she ever attempts the gym challenge. It could also be handy to modify spells back home to be more combative. Anything that could give her an edge.]
no subject
Ah-] Oh! Blue uses a pretty big variety- Exeggutor, Arcanine...
Since it's supposed to be a challenge though, I wanted to make sure it was challenging for both of us though! Even though Lego had Freeze Dry for example, Lego's also kind of fragile, and not really that fast- so it's a little more tricky for Lego too!
And I had Squid fight earlier- Squid's psychic dark, and mostly focuses on twisting stats around... ...Also Jingle, who's my Chingling...
no subject
[Hermione listens intently as she jots down more notes.]
Wow you used a pretty interesting team - it makes your win even more impressive especially going up against such hard hitters like Arcanine and Gyarados. Your team must be ecstatic!
How many badges have you won so far? You'll have to let me know how you go at the Pewter Gym. I've been debating trying the gym challenge, mostly to learn different tactics and because my pokemon have been keen to test their abilities against the gyms....
no subject
My other badges though are... ...I got the first four in Johto, but after that I had to take a break for a while, [He admits.] Since I'm in Kanto now, I guess I'm going to get this set before I finish the other one...
I'll definitely tell you though! Brock is supposed to have Rock types right? ...maybe I'll try using fire pokemon, or birds...
[emporio no]
no subject
I've heard he's pretty tough. Wouldn't it be better to go with a type effectiveness such as grass or water if he specialises in rock? Fire and air attacks won't do much against something like his Onix....
[That's what she'd do anyway. As well as calculating how her pokemon would counter each of the opposing pokemon's attack well in advance of the actual battle. In fact, maybe she's start drawing up a plan for the gyms...]
no subject
So that's how I plan to keep going!
are you happy for us to wrap this one up?
I hadn't thought of it that way, but I think you're right. It's about testing your pokemon's abilities and strategy rather than brute forcing your way through it. There's no learning in that method.
Thank you for the advice! I think it's going to be very useful if I take on a gym challenge, and I'd be curious to see how my pokemon go if I choose a strategy like yours.
Sounds good to me!
And yeah, no problem- good luck making your own strategies, okay?
