[Alright he's figured out how to do video at least. After being ousted from a home that he is pretty sure it got implied he lived in by someone named 'Mom' who certainly isn't his mother or look anything like him. The two toned hair being the one indicator. The fact that he remembers his mother and that this is not his mother is another good indicator.

Or maybe this is the culmination of how many times he's been knocked around. Maybe this is a fever dream.]

Good afternoon everyone.

A local man said he wanted to fight me and then presented a small rat. I think his implication was he wanted me to fight his pet. I don't condone animal abuse so I won't be doing that. However, any time I step near to pass by, he insists I should be battling "him". Each time it's the rat. Does anyone have a number or a contact for a humane society? I don't think I'm comfortable leaving it in his care.

It's kind of a whole pet-fighting situation around here. They like it, though!

They like... fighting? It's legal to let animals and humans fight one another? I have training in hand to hand combat that I'm sure his pet doesn't. If I explain that maybe it will put some reason into his decision.

[She lifts up her 'gengar'-costumed Mimikyu into frame, who is maybe not the best example of a pet, but—]

[He's used to way worse than a pleasant smile and a kindly explanation. At least this guy didn't want h-

That's a cute, but very angry looking pet and his own eyes stray somewhere off to the side looking down at something clearly. He'll consider later that rats are called by different names here, and instead takes to the important part of what he's figuring out.]

There's been something following me since a woman claiming to be my mother sent me out here. I don't think it's meant to fight.

[Since it's a showyoursshowmine situation, he turns the camera toward a small Sinistea settled at his feet, looking back up at him now that he's looking down at it.]

[Maya's face lights up immediately; she grins wide, making a little aaa! noise at the discovery.]

I have one of those, too!

[She says, tugging her own floating tea-cup onto the screen by the little spoon it loves to hold. Upon seeing Maya's screen, her sinistea waves that little spoon at what it assumes is already a friend.]

They're so cute, right? But they can fight too! It won't be very strong to start out, but you'd be surprised!

It's a ghost pokemon, too!

[That's a good development, any time anyone is happy in his direction for any one reason, it's a good thing. An Aaaa is something he will take. For him, on his end, he's otherwise quiet, looking on as the adorable cup comes into view. Waving that spoon prompts Todoroki to raise his hand and wave back with a few wriggles of his fingers. Stoic yes, but none the less he's obviously interested.

Dual toned eyes turn to his own becupped comrade and the hand he had lifted to wave, gently touches the base of the cup.]

[His eyes move back and he concentrates on the screen again.]

You'll have to forgive me I don't know what any of this is. I've tried reading some of the information but not a whole lot of it made sense. Are you saying this is a spectre of some sort, that they're both spectres? Yours and mine.

Yeah, that's right! OR, I think that's right, anyway. Ghosts in this world are a little different than regular spirits.

Um, kind of like the difference between a ghost and a poltergeist, if you know it?

[Her Sinistea seems quite pleased by the waves in response, making strange little bell noises in tandem with the Mimikyu.]

Both of these two are Ghost types, so they use a shadowy kind of power to fight with other Pokemon. As opposed to, like, fire, or water, or ice.

I do know it, at least folklore wise.

[His voice is precise but there's no malice or hurrying her behind it, only the information most important to the point she's making. They're helpful and he appreciates it. Watching the exchange between both of these pets is also damn cute. However, keeping his eyes on his conversation partner is more or less what he's doing.]

So I should let this [Uh. Not thing. Thing seems like he doesn't like it, and he actually does like it.] ...Cup. fight the man's rat?

Yeah! But you have to watch out. Ghost moves only affect certain types of pokemon.

[Speaking of which...]

Um, what color was the rat, by the way?

[So it's exactly like quirks. He nods his head again, appreciative for the heads up and looks a little concerned by what that's supposed to mean.]

Purpleish? Very purple. Definitely a rat, but not a usual rat colour.

Ratata! That's a normal type!

Normal types don't get hit by Ghost moves at all. But it's the same for ghosts, too! If they both used only Normal and Ghost moves on each other, you'd be stuck battling for a long time...

[Maya's Sinistea waves its spoon again as to prompt Maya to remember—]

Oh! But, Ghost pokemon can learn other types of moves, too. So you'll just have to use those if you want to battle against normal types together!

[It's a little bit before he responds again, his friends have bolstered ~~and yelled at~~ him enough that he's confident to at least try. That this isn't really as bad as it seems on the surface. Turns out? Them and this kindly person have been right, really.

That cute little spoon wave is going to stay with him a long while.]

You're right. The battle was a very long one. However, I'm allowed to pass now. I'll be sure to figure out what attacks would be beneficial. There's just so much to learn in such a short time it's a little overwhelming.
