[Alright he's figured out how to do video at least. After being ousted from a home that he is pretty sure it got implied he lived in by someone named 'Mom' who certainly isn't his mother or look anything like him. The two toned hair being the one indicator. The fact that he remembers his mother and that this is not his mother is another good indicator.
Or maybe this is the culmination of how many times he's been knocked around. Maybe this is a fever dream.]
Good afternoon everyone.
A local man said he wanted to fight me and then presented a small rat. I think his implication was he wanted me to fight his pet. I don't condone animal abuse so I won't be doing that. However, any time I step near to pass by, he insists I should be battling "him". Each time it's the rat. Does anyone have a number or a contact for a humane society? I don't think I'm comfortable leaving it in his care.
Thank you.
[It takes one or two times of tapping at the screen before he shuts it off, but he gets there.]

I'm actually a whole continent away from where you are right now. I'm with Midoriya and Bakugou.
But speaking of animals, you probably ought to meet the one you got! Or at least let them out. There ought to be a red and white ball in the bag Mom gave you - just drop it on the ground or press the button on it when you find it!
[ There's a lot to explain about this place but... What is Todoroki's starter??? ]
no subject
The bet is pretty much set in stone.]
Alright.
[This had to be going somewhere, Kirishima wasn't someone he didn't trust and so he brought out the ball after rummaging around and pressed it. Nothing in particular happens, but the phone isn't showing as much. Just Todoroki looking up and over to the tiny teacup sliding up to his side so they could both look at the pokeball.]
No animals that I can see. Did you mean this? Someone else drew my attention to them, too.
['This' is what he trains his camera on.]
This has been following me since I left the house.
no subject
Oh! That's it! That's your Pokemon!
[ And while Kirishima doesn't know what he was expecting - maybe a water type since fire and ice? - he's still surprised! Though now he thinks about it, this does seem appropriate. Todoroki's one of the most traditionally Japanese people he knows and what's more Japanese than a possessed inanimate object? ]
Yeah, when we arrive in this place, we all start out with a buddy to go with us while we travel. The animals of this world are called Pokemon and they all have Quirks, so it can be dangerous to go anywhere outside of town unless you have one to protect you.
[ Because, and he's hesitating to be the one to break the bad news, Todoroki no longer has his own Quirk. Kirishima's told this to two or three of his classmates now and it's sucked every time; maybe Midoriya or Bakugou will get there before him... ]

[It's obvious 'this' and the tone of his voice is affirming more than questioning. Good okay. That's one thing down at least. This is a pokemon and that's step one done for him. All steps actually. Animals with quirks... isn't that just...]
I don't need protecting, it's a teacup. I've dropped them before and I've seen what happens when they get hit. If these creatures have some form of High Spec or not I'd rather it not shatter.
[Said shatterable teacup is busy rooting through his bag, which Todoroki seems none too fussed by. He really likes this cup. One day he'll learn, the hard way. Probably when it gets too hot or too cold somewhere.]
Do you rely on them, Kirishima?
no subject
[ He's actually never seen a Sinistea before now, but how else would you explain what he's seeing? Fairy type? Anyway, before he can ponder over if the cup can even break, there's another question.
It provokes a wry grin. ]
I like to think we rely on each other most of the time. But when it comes to things like flying or surfing over the water, yeah. Without a doubt.
[ But thinking about fighting Pokemon with his bare hands - which he has done, and often if you count sparring with his fighting types - brings a little chuckle. ]
Actually, I fought the first Pokemon I got. In my defense the first thing he did was punch me in the gut!
no subject
Yeah. Okay. He could try to be friends with a cup. A cup that makes cute little trilling noises. Ones that he can hear off from whatever adventure the bag is offering.]
I can't imagine a whole world of animals with Quirks. However, I'm not surprised you didn't back down from a fight. That's a good quality of yours.
[The image shifts while he picks himself back up and places the teacup on his shoulder somewhere out of frame, picking and zipping up his bag.]
Midoriya said I'd get used to it. You say we're symbiotic. I have no reason to think any of you are lying. This is just another obstacle and with as many of us here as there is, we can figure it out.
no subject
Thanks, man!
[ It's the type of person he's always wanted to be, even if two years ago it wasn't the truth, so to have that acknowledged by someone he considers a powerful peer is just making him feel awesome. ]
And yeah, in this world, people work side by side with Pokemon - it's pretty awesome! But on the other hand, people also think it's totally cool to send kids out to live in the wild with nothing but what you've got now. At least our class had some survival training, but that Eri girl got put here too and she's not the first kid I've seen on the network.
Luckily a lot of the off-worlder adults step up when that's the case and Ururaka has Eri, but don't be surprised if you see a bunch of feral ten-year-olds wanting to Pokemon battle you on the routes.
no subject
I was wondering who had Eri. She recognized me and reached out to say hello.
[He's not thrilled by the idea of the rest of that, either. Neglecting children doesn't sit well with him at all.]
Feral ten year olds aren't going to be a problem, I just have to learn how to train... [Huh. Okay, he has no name for it. If he has to think it through, then after a few seconds.] Hojicha, and myself. However, what I'm even more worried about... If you're an entire continent away, just how spread out are all of us? Is it safe here?
no subject
We got to the continent - Kanto - we're on by takin' the ferry from where you're at now. It costs 2000 Pokedollars and takes a couple days. I'd offer to come pick you up, but...
[ He knows damn well Bakugou's not letting anyone else travel with them - maybe especially not Todoroki. ]
It'd only hurt you since traveling quickly around this world later depends on you taking the long way through now.
no subject
As for picking him up... No one has to say 'Bakugo' for Todoroki to understand that's part of the problem.]
Even if that weren't the case, I'll manage on my own. [Which is his way of saying 'it's fine'.] I'm capable and have a basic understanding now, at least. If something goes gravely wrong then I'll call for advice.
[He's still considering the battle and the tiny, four inch cup might just surprise him.]
I'll go talk to the man. Maybe he can help me with what rules he would like to go by. If this is sanctioned there has to be rules.
no subject
[ He clenches his fist emphatically. He's rooting for you, dude! ]
And give me a call any time! It doesn't have to just be for advice. And at the end of this month there's supposed to be a summer party at a waterpark - we should all meet up!
[ Which is a much nicer way of saying Shoto is stuck here for the foreseeable future along with the rest of them. ]
But as far as rules go, there aren't many. Just don't tell Hojicha to attack the trainer and don't try to throw a pokeball at the Rattata basically. Oh, and if you lose, you owe the other guy 100 Pokemoney.
But you guys aren't gonna lose. The Rattata might not even be able to hit Hojicha if it only has normal moves.
no subject
The end of this month. I'll be there.
[Rules are also being fed to him in digestible ways, too and he nods his head to indicate he understands what's being told to him. He had no designs on either of those things, but Kirishima's help is invaluable should the reverse ever not be the case.]
I'll call you back so you and Midoriya may discuss what you're discussing without me hearing any longer to tell you the outcome. Bakugo made a good point and I think I'll follow it.
no subject
[ He has to cringe a little at being called out like that, but nods. He still wants Midoriya's opinion if it's worth even telling Shoto about it later. He knows it's way too much to handle right now. ]
You got it!
no subject
Done. It wasn't very exciting but it happened.
