[Ash hasn't been to a wedding since his own! Adulthood 8 please.]

[The day is finally here~! There's an incredible feeling of nervousness hovering over you right now, and you haven't even left for the chapel yet! Did it seem this day would never come? Did it seem as if it came too quick? It's both and yet neither, and the rich suit that has been tailored to fit feels almost hot right now.

Looking out the window, it seems that the carriage has arrived; though where you are exactly still feels unfamiliar, with cheap wooden boards that are rough to the touch.

Well. Assuming you touch them at least.]

[Ash is most certainly familiar with that nervousness. All those months of preparations, all those invitations to send, all those reminders to take time off work, Dad... Yet now that it's happening, it seems all too soon. he brushes some non-existent lint off his dark suit and-

Wait a moment. On the day of his wedding, Asemu Asuno was wearing white.

Alarmed, he gives the place another look. Even by Earth standards, that much wood in a building would be prohibitively expensive. And out the window-]

This cannot... A carriage? Are those even legal these days?

[Of course they are! Why ever wouldn't they be? With no one around to question his words, the memory doesn't do anything about such an anachronistic reaction.

There is, however, the increasing feeling that he needs to move. He can't afford to be late to his own wedding! The carriage is just outside, and nerves are no reason to be sitting around!!

Go on now!! Down those stairs and out that door!]

[Fine, fine, he's going.

Very slowly, mind you. He stops often, staring at some innocuous detail of the interior design before he moves on, and frankly he looks like his fight-or-flight response is a hair away from being triggered.

...Wedding nerves, very much so!]

Deep breaths...deep breaths now...this is the happiest day of my life! It's going to be Fine.]

[Ash very much disagrees with that Fine assessment! He's done plenty of unsavory things in his life, but he very much does not wish to add 'becoming a bigamist' to the list. As he advances, he mutters (back?).]

What the hell, what the hell, is this some kind of mistaken identity incident? Should I try running away?

[Good question! Terrible question. A glance at his reflection in the glass of the nearest mirror, window, or whatever else- really it depends on if he's made it to the carriage yet- might explain one thing or another.

[Ash is just reaching the carriage, as a matter of fact! But then he stops and does not climb in.

Very possibly because of the very alarming explanation offered by that one glimpse, yes. And where does that voice even come from?]

Look, I can't do this to Romary, I can't do this to the nice lady waiting wherever we're going, and I definitely can't do this sober. There has to be a solution.

Great. Just great. And he's not even sure he can talk back in his head, or if he has to whisper and hope he doesn't look insane.]

[That appears to be a 'no', particularly since Jonathan only seems half aware of the fact that this is a memory. Bugger.]

Congratulations! May you know decades of happiness despite this rather confusing beginning.

This is going to be difficult to explain to your wife-to-be, if the issue doesn't fix itself by then.

[As he grows more aware of what is happening, sadly, the reality of things is also sinking in. There is a feeling of immense sadness, even as it accompanies the urge to get in the darn carriage already.]

Whilst I look forward to indeed having that opportunity here in Johto, I must sadly confess that I die upon our honeymoon. Is this truly a situation to explain however? It feels more like we've walked directly into the past!

...I'm terribly sorry to hear this. No one should lose their life and happiness so swiftly.

[Ash's horror at the thought makes him more pliable, which means he's (finally!) getting inside that carriage.]

We may be in the past, but we're still aware that something's not right here. It may also be the case for her. Even if this day has already happened, I'd be uncomfortable pretending to be you on such an important day.

It is quite alright. We are able to enjoy a lovely life here now after all!
