1st Sketch [Video]
[The feed is turned on to reveal the face of a very pale looking girl with an eyepatch. She looks...a bit confused, but that's probably normal. She glances away from the device for a moment, as if making sure no one's following her before finally speaking.]
...that wasn't my mother. I'm not sure what this place is, but I'm hoping there's someone who does. [There does seem to be a network of sorts, so she's assuming she's not just talking to some useless machine.]
...I hate phones.
[She grumbles quietly to herself for a moment.]
There was some odd creature following me too. Like some sort of cartoonish ghost. [She holds up a very well-done sketch of what's clearly a Shuppet.]
I would appreciate it if someone could fill me in. Thank you.

The ghost Pokémon's yours now. Congratulations. [ She does not actually sound congratulatory about that at all. ]

Mine? Ghost? [Sure, it did look like some kind of cartoonish ghost, but...she didn't see anything on it. Actually, she can't seem to see anything out of that eye. It's concerning.]
I'm confused.

...I mean. Whatever pokémon you woke up with is the one you get to train and fight with for however long 'til you capture new ones. Better get used to it.
no subject
[Why would they make small animals fight? That sounds fairly cruel.]
What is this place?
no subject
You don't have to fight unless you're traveling.

[Jimmy shakes his head. His first words to Pokeworld at large had been very similar.]
Messed up, right? Folks here told me she's a little...you know. Confused? She don't mean no harm.
So, you're on a whole different planet or in a different dimension or something. This place? It's all about Pokemon. Like that little guy hanging out with you! He's an animal. And...also some kind of ghost. But he's your best friend now.
Video
[The whole different dimension thing doesn't help with her confusion. Is that even possible? Then again, the idea of a curse that struck a class for decades is probably a far off idea to some, too.]
I'm not sure where it is right now.
Video
Not far, I bet. There's hundreds of Pokemon, and they all got abilities and powers and stuff. And everything in this world revolves around them. They're pretty great, really. I got like forty of'em. I train'em and do professional battles - I mean, not much, I just got started - but you don't gotta. It doesn't hurt'em or nothing, if you do. It's what they do in the wild.
I know it sounds really messed up.
Video
[Great, now she's imagining hundreds of purple tissue ghost things. At least they look a little cute?]
It does sound odd.

[She pummels on undeterred, excited to be able to talk to people. Anyone would do, but cute girls? She sure is lucky]
Names are super important, so you should give it one! Something funny!

Why funny? [That seems kind of rude to the creature.]

GREETINGS, HUMAN! DO NOT FRET, THAT MONSTER FOLLOWING YOU IS YOUR NEW POKEMON FRIEND!
Video
I'm not sure it can be my friend when I only met it for a few moments.
Re: Video
NONSENSE! HE ALL READY SEEMS QUITE FOND OF YOU!
Video
I haven't seen it for over an hour.

You've got a ghost. My trainer's a magnet for them. I was looking for anyone with other cats, but this is fine too.
[.....this is not helpful you little shit- the cat's just talking telepathically, that must make this girl SO happy to see.]
What kind of ghost is that? I should know.
...I've been told it's a Shuppet.
A Shuppet! That sounds like a fun name. She'll probably scream. That's okay, she likes them eventually. [Munch, munch.] Oh, right, ghosts like to pull pranks. So watch your back. Yours probably will.
[She assumes so.]
Are you sure about that?
