dated after prom | network (un: anonymous)

[ he's got feelings and he doesn't know what they are!!! it's a crush but this is his first one.

so in true sandalphon fashion, he asks the network. but this time as an anon. he doesn't need this traced back to him! and to that effect, he's going to try and type like everyone else. (or as much as he can, at least.) ]

hey so how do you know you have a crush on someone?

[ ...nailed it. ]

oh man, I wasn't human when I got here and I knew how to kiss?

You might wanna start with a surface level smooch first. Not sure we should go with tongue until you have a better idea of how mouths work.

Okay so for some reason mortal cultures all decided that puckering up your lips and pressing them against a thing (or person) was an acceptable sign of affection

Which now that I think about it probably IS kind of weird if you're not human

That's it, that's all this is

But there's all sorts of different etiquette about how long you should and so forth, also kissing different parts of the body means different things

okay, so:

Cheek: cute, good if you're just kissing a crush or if you want to make a quick display of affection for a partner. Probably the "safest" kiss in terms of social interaction.

Hand: for when you want to be sexy but the current circumstances demand you to restrain yourself, seen as kind of a tease.

Completely different from the hand is if there's a monarch or some other authority figure and you're explicitly kissing their ring, which is you basically saying you'll bend over backwards for that asshole.

Forehead: Weirdly, seen as more chaste than the hand kiss even though it's on the face, also kind of protective? Maybe it's because parents will usually do this one for kids.

On lips, no tongue: also a fairly "safe" romantic gesture that's just a bit more personal than the cheek kiss.

On lips, you stick your tongue in their mouth: seen as a super passionate dramatic kiss, only do this if you're the other person is into it/in the mood.

Hope that helps!

You and the other person go on an outing together where it's just the two of you instead of bringing a friend or whatever

It's that simple and yet it is weirdly more complicated than that in ways I can't really describe
