atsumu does trip, but doesn’t fall. makes one hell of a tumble forward, certainly, honing back his balance into his center, but . . . it does get him to stop. his fox friend is tipping ahead of him, as if to say let’s go, let’s go!!. instead—

atsumu reels forward to snatch oikawa’s collar into balled fists. ]

You really wanna throw down right now, don’tcha—?!

[ they also don’t have iwaizumi here……… to stop them 🫣 ]

[There's an innocent look as Tooru acts as though he did nothing, there was a rock, see? He's imagining things, there was no foot! Though he does snort at the stumble.

Okay see Atsumu, that's probably a bad idea to get up in Tooru's face because that Houndoom? There's times he gets Real Protective over his trainer, like right now, but fortunately he knows that look of disapproval he's getting if he nips at someone.]

Kyōken, behave. I'll let Iwa-chan give you extra treats later if you can be good.

[With that settled, and Houndoom sat back down next to his trainer, Tooru gives a look before saying anything. He's used to being calm under pressure like this, messing with people for fun.]

Dunno, I don't think Iwa-chan would approve of me getting into a fistfight with someone so much younger than me. I'd rather not have him give me another lecture for fighting a child.

[ oh, oh this guy. this guy gets under his skin. this guy has a very punchable face. atsumu wants to just. sick his fist into that sly smirk, you know? his fists tighten, he sweats at the dangerous growl of a houndoom that garners a sparky yip from a small, underleveled but still spunky nickit if it meant sticking by his trainer. soon, it’s going to get bigger and then it wants to see if the pooch’ll look at him like that!

and, as for pressing matters— the vulpix is fleeing the scene! the shiny nickit pulls at atsumu’s leggings. come on! ]

Oi . . . [ he churns his fists into fabric before launching oikawa away from him with a shove. ] If you sick your dog on me? I’ll haunt ya’ for the rest of your life.

C’mon, Swipes.

[ he’s turning heel to stomp after the vulpix— but clearly, very clearly, he’s fuming. ]

You must be deaf or dumb, or both you poor thing, I was referring to you with that child comment. But don't worry your head, I won't let him attack you. He knows better than to attack someone.

[So what if Atsumu is only a year younger than he is, maybe almost two at this point since Tooru's 19th birthday is coming up in 2 months. Then again, the bigger child at the moment is Tooru, for being so needlessly antagonistic.

However, Atsumu does get that one on him as Tooru stumbles back a little from the shove, even if that loyal dog makes sure he doesn't land on his behind. But because he doesn't land on the ground, like a jerk, he follows.

He's curious if this obnoxious fox can manage a catch without help. Plus, he wants to find a couple of new teammates as well, since he's lacking in the Ice Type with just his Glaceon and Alolan Vulpix.]

Y'know. There are people out there who you can get Pokémon from that have moves their wild ones won't. Kyōken-chan here even has moves his wild brethren won't.

[ atsumu goes absolutely silent. back turned, just . . . stiffening up in this cold— he’s following him now! with that mouth! just talking him down like that! he definitely. wants to get punched.

he says doesn’t hear what else oikawa had to say about special moves. he doesn’t even want to hear it. his fists tighten in double. all he sees and feels is heat and red.

incoming, oikawa. you’re getting swung at, right into the cheek bone if his aim is good (as a setter, it should be).

even his nickit gasps. oh no 🫣 ]

Letting him get hit is more fun (sorry for delay, life bit me in the ass)

[Tooru is already bracing himself for that inevitable hit as soon as he sees the bleach blond stiffen, getting the exact reaction he wanted. Though at least he has time to throw his arms up to avoid his "pretty face" getting bruised or even broken. That would be a lecture and hours of fussing over him from his boyfriend later, he'd rather Not be on the receiving end of that yet AGAIN.

However, that punch is stronger than Tooru expects and gets him stumbling backwards. Right onto his ass. Making a few of the Snom scurry off surprisingly quickly.

And yet, he's laughing as he rubs his arm with a smug expression.]

You really ARE the hothead out of you twins! I knew it!

Down Kyōken, I'm fine.

[He pats the ground under the dog's stomach to get him to lay down, which is obeyed only because of the fact his trainer is laughing. He'd really like to take a bite of this kid though....]

np!! (and we can probably wrap up anyway!)

[ his knuckles sting, but the most he'll do about it is give his fingers a quick flex. so, what. this whole instigation was some sort of elaborate plan to out him as a hothead? the hothead?

he doesn't know whether to feel offended or flattered, and ends up midway through disgusted but proud of sending oikawa on his ass. ]

'Tch. I won't miss next time, either.

[ he'll leave oikawa there to freeze his butt off, while he fumes and runs after the only fox he's seen in here. and oh hell yes is he going to catch it out of spite. ]

[Tooru is simply content to just stay there on the ground, shuffling over to lean against the Houndoom, continuing to laugh as he rubs his admittedly now sore arm. He hasn't had the opportunity to cause problems on purpose in a while and this was some good fun.

So he just waves with a grin instead of antagonizing Atsumu further.]
