[The video feed starts and focuses on a young, thin, tanned skinned teenager with a Yamask laying over his shoulder. One might use the stereotypical term "exotic" to describe him. He softly clears his throat before speaking.]

Ah, hello. My name is-

[The boy pauses, obviously mulling something over in his mind.

I don't need to hide who I am here. Even if there is someone I might know, they all know who I am now so...]

-Marik. I just arrived the other day and I'm currently traveling along Route 29.

[He looks around at the area off screen.]

I've never seen so much green before! The grass is so soft and the way the wind blows through the trees... It's all so wonderful.

[I never thought I'd get to experience any of this.. Domino City had pockets of greenery here and there but still place is so different.]

I'm afraid I'm still not 100% certain on how things work here but I've got the jidst of it. The music is going to take some getting used to, that's for sure. Is there some speaker system it's coming from...?

[Another pause as he debates whether or not to ask the question that pops into his head.]

Hn... Is there another way to catch pokemon? Other than fighting and weakening them, I mean. It seems... kind of cruel to beat the poor thing up and then stuff it into a pokeball. I'm honestly just used to handling cards, not live animals.

[He mutters to himself]

It's still strange to think that these are real creatures and not just holograms...

[He'll uh worry about the alternate universe stuff later. There's someone from his world here.]

How long have you been here? Has anyone else from our world shown up here?

[Radley had indeed just filled in the last name upon hearing and seeing the video. He had both watched and read a lot of content about Battle City.]

[He had lived a sheltered childhood himself, albeit different from Marik's.]

Yeah, I hear you on that. I don't like seeing my Pokemon get hurt, even if they like battling.

[Radley inwardly cringes when he sees Marik's panic mode. Maybe it had been the wrong idea.... But when Marik relaxes, he hopes maybe it will be alright....]

Yes, I do. My deck is one of the only things that came with me.

[Now he has another dilemma, whether to reveal he's from the future of their world....]

I've been here about three months. I've seen one other person here from our world, and there may be others.

I noticed my deckbox was still in my pocket a little while after I arrived.

[But the Rod was gone. Why was that missing but my cards still with me...? Perhaps I'll have to ask Sion since he isn't from my world...]

Oh! Maybe we can duel some time!

[Probably best to wait. He's still taking in a lot of information all at once.]

Really? I wonder if it's anyone I know...

Yeah. I'm glad I at least have that as a piece of home. I'd love to duel sometime, but ... you probably won't be familiar with most of my cards.... I'm kinda from the future of our world. The other person I met is too.

[Aannndd he just stares. This may take a few minutes as he tries to process everything.

The inner-monologue here would be a wall of text we'll just skip to when he's sorted things out.]

I... see. I think. That would complicate things then about the card game...

How... uh... how far in the future are you from?

I don't think it would make it impossible, as most of the cards I use were developed just a few years after your time and they've been used against decks made with cards from your time, but it might take some getting used to, at least. I'm from about thirty years after your time.

30 years...

[He rubs his head.]

[Marik believes him though. It makes some sort of sense, what with everyone being from different words. Why couldn't they be from different times?]

But that is impressive that Duel Monsters is still being made and played. I can't imagine how much it's changed though.

Yes, it's still hugely popular. Maybe even more than it was at first. It is pretty different, though, in general. I kinda prefer the old-school cards myself.

Ah, it's just an expression that means the older things. I have no idea how it got started! It is pretty random and weird, when you think about it.

Ahh, okay. I... guess that makes sense?

I get that, to some extent. My family kept a pretty tight hold on me, growing up. I only learned a lot of things when I got away from them.

That begs the question... when we leave this place, does anyone know if we remember everything that has happened?

... That's a good question. I had the impression we do, but I don't know. I hope we do. I wouldn't want to forget the good things about this place. Although that would mean I'd probably think about and worry about my Pokemon a lot. I wish I could take them with me, but I doubt that can happen.

And you're right about worrying about the pokemon. I don't want to leave Chenzira behind...

Yeah. They really are endearing right away, aren't they?

[Radley smiles a bit.

His four Eevees and a Skitty pop up at the bottom of the screen. The Eevees warble and the Skitty says her name with a meow.]

I have a Rookidee egg too. It's probably gonna hatch soon now. I hope it will get along okay with the Skitty, being a bird....

[He has to look these up pokemon because he has no idea what they are.

Chenzira slinks a little further back on Marik's shoulder, trying to hide himself. He shy.]

Do they seem to have the same habits as our world's animals? Cat eats bird, dog chases cat, that sort of thing.

I'm not sure, actually. I've definitely seen them act like animals back home in some ways, but they have their own unique habits too. I'm hoping they'll get along better than those stereotypical ways.

I'll admit, I never thought I'd be learning in depth things about animals. Especially ones that enjoy fighting.

I guess I could say that about everything here though...

[Radley laughs.]

Yeah, there's a lot of new things to learn, that's for sure. I still don't get why Pokemon like to fight. Maybe a lot of it's similar to why humans like to fight, and even to play Duel Monsters.

Given that they seem to have more sentience to them than the animals back in our world, that makes sense as to why they might enjoy it.

Yeah. I wonder how much they really do understand. The Eevees seem to get everything I say, although they might not understand why I'm saying it. And Evie here, she can actually type.

[Radley chuckles.]

Hunt and peck with one key at a time, but that's amazing! She's typed completely normal sentences.

[Evie beams with pride.]

That's quite impressive! They must understand a lot if they're able to communicate like that.

Oh yeah. I've seen that from other Pokemon too. We had an event recently to rate everybody on attractiveness, and most of the people's entries were submitted by their Pokemon!

[He chuckles.]

[Marik just stares because how do you even process that statement.]
