001//video;

[The video feed starts and focuses on a young, thin, tanned skinned teenager with a Yamask laying over his shoulder. One might use the stereotypical term "exotic" to describe him. He softly clears his throat before speaking.]

Ah, hello. My name is-

[The boy pauses, obviously mulling something over in his mind.

I don't need to hide who I am here. Even if there is someone I might know, they all know who I am now so...]

-Marik. I just arrived the other day and I'm currently traveling along Route 29.

[He looks around at the area off screen.]

I've never seen so much green before! The grass is so soft and the way the wind blows through the trees... It's all so wonderful.

[I never thought I'd get to experience any of this.. Domino City had pockets of greenery here and there but still place is so different.]

I'm afraid I'm still not 100% certain on how things work here but I've got the jidst of it. The music is going to take some getting used to, that's for sure. Is there some speaker system it's coming from...?

[Another pause as he debates whether or not to ask the question that pops into his head.]

Hn... Is there another way to catch pokemon? Other than fighting and weakening them, I mean. It seems... kind of cruel to beat the poor thing up and then stuff it into a pokeball. I'm honestly just used to handling cards, not live animals.

[He mutters to himself]

It's still strange to think that these are real creatures and not just holograms...

That's what tends to happen, from what I've heard. And sometimes people fall into comas for a week in order to go back for a while, and they don't remember while they're there, which pretty much confirms it. I honestly try not to think about that too much...

Sion's already reached out, huh? Guess I shouldn't be surprised. He's a lot better at the whole welcome thing than I am.

Better not to. Unless someone ever figures out how any of this works, it's not like you can see it coming anyway.

He's good at that... Sion and I have known each other a while, yeah. We met back in school.

[way to not provide the details, Ryner...]

Well, the longer you're here, the more you'll find there is to do to distract you, if nothing else. ...Ahh, speaking of, just some advice, but don't go outside alone in October if you can help it.

A while, yeah. Kind of hard to believe it was that long ago... Not counting time here, back home it would have been about four or so years ago now, I think. We've come a long way from the day he blackmailed me into joining his team for that exercise...

[Blackmailing your future best friend into joining your group because you know about his dangerous eyes, stealing your future best friend's puzzle piece and throwing it into the pool, what's the difference really?]

I'd like to think we have, even if he can still be a stubborn asshole sometimes...

Ah, it's really just that a lot of bothersome stuff tends to happen in October. Usually it means a bunch of wild ghosts making mischief, or sometimes criminal teams from outside the region show up to cause problems, but there've been a few times where people have gotten stuck in nightmares, or legendary Pokemon have shown up and been an issue, or there was that one time with the weird fusions... So it's just safer not to go out alone, just in case something happens, and Rose would probably be mad at me if she found out I didn't warn you about it.

[He sounds very tired with that last sentence.]
