69th treasure [text]

Oh glorious network bursting with arcane and forbidden knowledge, please answer my query if you can.

How many pokéballs would it take to fill a 36-cubic-metre ball pit?

Uh ... are you serious? Are you making a ball pit with unused Pokeballs or something?

[He hopes they're unoccupied, at least!]

I don't think they'd be too pleasant to swim through, being as hard as they are.

Are you trying to get us to do your homework or something?

PS. It's definitely five. You should answer that on your homework.

It feels like there is a story behind this question...

Is that who'll be using it?

That's pretty cool then! I loved ball pits as a kid.

[Evie and Isla the Eevees pop up and warble. They think it sounds fun too!]

Assuming each pokéball occupies approximately a 6 centimeter cubed space, then you would need nearly 170 thousand.

Perhaps a small pit would be in order? Or are you needing to accommodate a Wailord?

Yeah....

[Radley smiles, remembering the few times he got to enjoy them.]

Well, it's a really cool idea, but it'll take a lot of Pokeballs to fill it. It might be cheaper to get bags of the soft balls that are usually used, if they make those here.

That sounds like the best option, then.

[Radley always looks for ways to save money.]

I wouldn't be surprised if some of them would do that! It would probably cost extra, but it wouldn't hurt to look into it.

First of all, how deep are you intending to make it? Other than a few extremely large species, it probably needn't be more than one meter deep. Perhaps two for those larger individuals. And consider that even a 3 by 3 pit would actually have more than sufficient surface area for up to nine Pokémon of approximately human size. So while a substantially smaller pit would require them to take turns, it certainly wouldn't need to be one at a time.

Probably. And oh yeah, that would be cool. I've seen some of those more unique styles. I wonder if they really work like the ads claim.

A...ball pit?

Those are those playground and exercise pits are they not?

Should it not be filled with something softer, given their purpose?

All the same, I believe your first step to such an answer is to determine how many pokeballs fit within a single cubic meter.

I have come to understand that pokéballs seem to have different weights, sizes and properties so this is a complicated question

What is the pit for
[ He's never heard of a ball pit in his life. ]

It's the ball pit for bad children who don't do their own homework.

Just be glad nobody peed in it.

Yes, I suppose that would be fitting, but wouldn't it be more expensive than using regular balls?

Though, if you want the look of having a ball pit filled with pokeballs, I'm sure they sell regular balls that look like pokeballs. And that way there would be no danger of any pokemon accidentally getting caught.

Unless, of course, that was your actual master plan. In which case, I apologise for foiling it early.
