Things Keldor is not doing yet: going on Careless Cara Liss' magical mystery tour back into the past. A shame he's not yet, really. Time travel is a doable thing [very rarely done, but doable] in Eternia, meaning he'd be one of the few who will take it well and might actually enjoy it.

Really, it'll be cool to experience when he does get snagged up, but, well... We've got other things we want to do first. Backdate-y things.



Things Keldor is currently doing before Hilarity Hits: trying to keep his recently-acquired Growlithe egg warm. This would be a whole lot easier if he had his magic, but he doesn't, which means making do. He's currently on Route 30, somewhere between Cherrygrove and Violet, and has got a fire going at the moment, where he has a bunch of stones encircling it to heat up. Once they're hot enough, they're placed around the egg using tongs [because it's that or third degree burns when you're magicless]. Gingko, watching all this, seems to have remembered that he's a bird, and is doing his best to help, but he's only half the size of the egg and can only warm so much of it up. Momiji the Sentret and Ganpi the Scatterbug are doing their best to assist, but those stones are hot, and, well. Bug pokemon and fire. You know how well the two go together, but A for effort on Ganpi's part.

Judging from the looks of things, and the fact he's been at this for a few days, it shouldn't be much longer before the egg hatches and everyone can say "hello".

[Radley brings some with his own tongs. Evie follows cheerily!]

[It wiggles again just as more stones are placed. Which makes him wonder...]

Does it take very long for an egg to go from "laid" to "hatching"?

[You'd be surprised.]

It seems to be a case by case basis. Mine sometimes take weeks or just days. I think certain species tend to hatch faster in general too.

I have a Growlithe. Are they slow hatchers or fast?

[More wiggling.]

I'm not sure, actually. I'm not really familiar with Growlithes....

[He watches the egg, intrigued. Evie stares, captivated.]

[behindblueskin]

[And now it's making noises!]

Are you familiar with that?

[crystalmaster]

[Radley smiles.]

I think it's getting pretty close to hatching!

[behindblueskin]

[Sure looks like it now that there's a crack in the shell as well as the usual Growlithe noises.]

It is breaking free!

[crystalmaster]

[Radley backs up, not sure if it will blast fire as soon as it's liberated.

His Pokemon are all watching attentively.]

[Good idea. There's a few tendrils of smoke issuing from the crack now. Ganpi, sensing that it's not currently safe for her with a fire-type around, scurries behind Keldor's legs.]

Arf! Arfarfarf!

[He's grinning now.]

Come on out. You are with friends.

[The smoke makes Radley grab his Pokemon and back up more, but he stays to watch. He's happy to see that it looks like everything is okay.

"Eevee-vee!" exclaims Evie.]

[That fire blast you were worried about? It's a weak one, but there's one nevertheless.

Keldor, being a well-trained soldier, ducks the blast just in time, right as the egg splits open and one very adorable puppy pokemon appears.]

Arfarfarf!

Magnificent.

[There isn't an achievement unlocked for hatching your first egg? There should be.

[Radley also dodges. But he smiles at the sight.]

Hey, that's really cute!

[His Pokemon all go to say Hi!]

[The Growlithe's already wagging its tail as Keldor retrieves his dex to get the information it has on it.]

Male. Gentle. Flash Fi— Hey!

[Looks like the Growlithe already likes Keldor, if the thorough licking and jumping-up-on it's giving him is an indication.]

[Radley laughs.]

Looks like he knows who his daddy is!

Yes, yes he— Oof!

[He grunts as the Growlithe jumps up to be caught, nearly upsetting his balance.]

"Gentle". I would not wish to see what it considers "not gentle" to be.

[The Growlithe seems to have its own definition of the meaning of the word, as it wiggles and squirms to make Keldor's acquaintance.]

[Radley has to laugh more at that.]

I guess he doesn't know his own strength!

[So much like a dog from back home, aside from the breathing fire part.]

No it would appear not.

[He says as he sets it down so that it can meet everyone here, now that it's managed to get to know who its trainer is.

Seems excited to introduce itself in almost the same manner: lots of waggy tail and licking faces.

It's actually quite fun to watch, even if Gingko and Ganpi are being extra-careful around the new arrival.]

[Radley is definitely enjoying watching it.]

It reminds me of when my eggs hatched. They cuddled right up to me and the rest of the team.

The eggs you breed, correct?

[He gestures at Radley's pokemon.]

Are they all of them bred by you?

[crystalmaster]

Right now I only have one Pokemon from one of my eggs, this cutie here.

[He indicates Kiryu.]

But I've bought some eggs from others.

All the same kind or different?

[He's not yet aware that people can and do specialise.]

I bought one Eevee egg. I also bought a Rookidee and a Ralts. Right now I'm waiting on the Eevee egg to hatch, as well as a second Eevee egg I got from two of mine.

So you purchase as well as breed?

[He wonders.]

Should I expect to find an egg greeting me one morning sometime in the future?

[crystalmaster]

Yeah. The Eevee I purchased has some possible moves that my others don't have, so it seemed like a good idea.

[He chuckles.]

If any of your Pokemon can breed with each other, then oh yeah.
