Summary: The Voltron Crew plans a little party

[Okay, cue the spy music. Stage one of the plan? Convince Lance they have a mission to go on. Try to keep the story straight. (Keeping the mission straight is not a guarantee.) Stage two, set up party ahead of the oncoming group, form sugary ambush. Except Hunk has to use whatever materials he can scrounge from supplies, around, or from available pokemon.]

[Final stage. Surprise! Keep food away from surprised Lance so he doesn't destroy the desert table through flailing- that is if the surprise is successful. Actually Hunk'll just put Dragon Roll the Gyarados out so he's hiding the whole thing. And will be between any Paladin-induced mishaps.]

[In short there's a party on the beach, with the decorations being mostly local flowers grown with the help of some pokemon teamwork, roasted and steamed veggies with herbs, sweet fruit-based dishes, mochi, and rice-milk ice cream.]

[Time to eat up and enjoy Lance's birthday!]

[ but at the food selection… ] Ah… that is quite a lot. Did you make all this?

Yeah! I started like... yesterday. Had to camp out here so I didn't get caught moving food through where anyone could see.

[But Lance is his bestie, and the effort was worth it!]

Is it anything like where you came from? No one I've met has been used to helpful friend monsters. Seems to be a new thing for us.

That I understand. But it looks like you have some proficiency in cooking-- I might have to ask you for your recipes, given that I need to better my own if I plan on creating a cafe back in Johto.

[ he grabs one of the appetizers, humming as he takes a bite. if there was one thing that becoming human gave him, it was getting the taste buds to truly appreciate food. ]

There were people who had access to familiars, yes. They were few and far between, but they are indeed similar to the pokemon that we use in our day to day lives. It wasn't that much of an adjustment on my part.

Well, I was planning on starting a restaurant... You know, if we don't get stuck here. [Though honestly if they did get stuck? He'd still be a food vendor. It's how he lives now.]

I'd be happy to share ideas and recipes. Even for drinks! It'd be great to spread the success, y'know.

[He wants to ask the one guy with the tea fetish his opinions on tea. With coffee too? Oh man, so much could be done.]

I'm almost sure we'll return in time. It's only a matter of when the gods decide enough is enough. [ he shrugs. he's a demi-god himself back home, he's sure the llama poke-god will get pissed off eventually. ]

I would gladly take those recipes. In return, I can give you some of my coffee roasts once we return to Johto. I believe my freshest batch was about an hour old-- that is, before we were all taken here.

[ he wanted to try his roast, damn it! ]

Maybe whenever I get my place set up, I could put up a map. Something that other people could use to find other newcomer's locations. Or... whatever we're called. Is there an official name for us?

[One that he hopes isn't bad, because that's a real risk. A lot of places are really hit or miss on that kind of thing.]

Trainers. The word you're looking for is trainers. [ it looks like he may not get much of a word in, so sandalphon might as well adapt. ] I believe the poke-gear back home doesn't have that feature, but at least the network will let you connect with others.

Well... they call their own people trainers, and I'm technically not one. I'm a breeder. I got a handbook and stuff.

[Which is a little bit of an embarrassing name to be honest. But he doesn't have much of a desire to go on an agressive pokejourney, and most of his levelling up has happened because of random attacks in the wild.]

Ah, a breeder. So you're more in charge of bringing more pokemon into the world. THat sounds wonderful. Suffice to say that my knowledge in that field is rather limited.

[ at least he's being honest. ] The network back in Johto might be better suited for that... or at least the general internet.
