Log:
Arrival/ Obsidian Fieldlands at night
It's been a wild ride since he'd arrived in this new region. At first he had felt at home in Johto and even had some buddies there like Grim and Brodoof. He was getting used to that world when he was suddenly thrown into the past. Sure, Zack had understood What Cara Liss had said but that didn't mean he liked it. He was just starting out his second chance at life and now here he was in another new world.
While he did miss his phone and other modern technology and goods {his hair gel really was sorely missed} he didn't mind being out in the wild. He'd grown up with almost nothing in the backwaters of Gongaga so this was more nostalgic of home then the other place had been.
Zack missed his buddies but luckily he had gained another buddy here. Doggo the growlithe was his buddy and he reminded Zack a lot of brodoof. Doggo would often lay at his feet or cuddle him when he was feeling sad. It was like Doggo could read his thoughts, though Zack wasn't sure if that was real or not. The jury was out on that one still. Together they had adventured around the Obsidian fieldlands, meeting other trainers every so often but usually camping out under the stars together. That was where they were currently found, huddled up under a tree. Doggo was sleeping but Zack was up and stargazing, kept up by thoughts of home and of the previous world.
Cobalt Coastlands
The coastlands were a place Zack really enjoyed. It wasn't too hot but when you laid on the beach for awhile it was warm enough to warrant a nice soak in the waters. At least he had thought that until he realized how many pokemon were in the waters. He had stopped venturing deep into the ocean after learning what lived there the hard way. Doggo wasn't even able to help him in water at all, the poor boy always waited for him patiently on the beach like the good boy he was.
Currently Zack was lounging on the beach, his growlithe laying besides him but on alert in case any other pokemon came too close and tried to bother them. He'd taken his survey corps uniform top off and was topless, only keeping the pants on for now. Doggo's tail started to wag a bit but he stayed where he was, seeing a trainer in the distance. Zack sat up, his back covered in sand and stretched a bit before getting up to survey the area around them.
Alabaster Icelands
It was cold, but with Doggo at his side he had a small furball who always generated heat. The two had trekked into the snowy fields exploring. Really it was just Zack walking in the snow with Doggo in his arms the whole time to keep them both warmer. Doggo was enjoying this and had his tongue out the entire time.
As they had explored, the duo came up upon a flock of bird pokemon that Zack obviously didn't recognize. It looked like some of the bigger birds were picking on a smaller one. Doggo whined at the scene and the two rushed in. Some of the birds (rufflets) flew off in surprise but the one that remained seemed injured in it's wing. Doggo used a fire fang on the rufflets that remained while Zack grabbed the injured Rufflet. "Hey little one, you doing okay? I'll get you some help soon I promise."
A cold wind blew as Zack brought the bird closer to his chest. He whistled for Doggo to leave the others and follow him as they ran into the wild to find any other trainer who might have some kind of healing on them.

He groans, burying his face dramatically in his hands. Which only convinces Cassia that he needs her help as well and she bounds over, springing off of Zack's offered back to canonball into Lorenz' lap more violently. Which only bowls Lorenz over backwards, hitting the ground with another coughing fit and a frantic shove at his enthusiastic puppy to get her off of him so he can at least try to breathe properly.
Or as close to properly as he's ever able to.
no subject
An arm slides under Lorenz's back and the other under his legs before Zack is easily, too easily lifting him up. The man is way too light in his arms and he can't help but frown a bit. He turns to look at his own Growlithe and whistles for Doggo to come to his side. "Alright pups we gotta go fast. Follow me and I'll give you treats."
With that he's running back to the camps, keeping Lorenz safely tucked against his chest.
"Hey buddy, I know it's hard but you have to take slow deep breaths okay? I don't want you passing out on me. Slooooow breaths." He looks down at Lorenz, making sure he is following his orders. The slower he breaths the less coughing he should do.
no subject
For his part Lorenz, much as he might want to, doesn't have the energy to argue as Zack scoops him up. His face scrunched up in concentration, trying to suppress the coughing long enough to get a couple of breaths in before he surrenders to it again. The coughing alone is embarrassing enough, the last thing he needs to do is actually pass out on this poor man. He doesn't need the extra instruction from Zack, already struggling to do just that, but it's sweet that he's so encouraging. When Zack looks down at him he flashes a weak smile, nodding slightly but not foolish enough to dare trying to speak just yet.
Cassia, at least, takes her cue from Doggo, trotting along beside him as they keep pace with Zack. Maybe he can help remind her that people are not as sturdy as pokemon.

Doggo follows behind, herding in Cassia and sitting by the edge of the bed waiting patiently for a treat. He looks at Cassia and licks her face to get her attention while their owners do what they need to.
Grabbing a canteen, he gives it to Lorenz and lets him drink from it, not wanting to baby him too much. "Slow sips, easy does it. Does anything hurt besides your lungs?" He relinquishes the canteen to Lorenz and goes to rubbing his back in soothing motions trying to help him fix his breathing a little.

Slumping like that might mean leaning heavily into Zack's supporting arm but... he'll just have to suffer that indignity for now.
"My apologies..." Again, guilty but determined to at least be polite when he's placed such a burden on the man. "I should not have... pushed myself."
no subject
He doesn't mind the weight against him either. Lorenz hardly weighs anything to him and the man is pretty so it's nice to have someone in his arms. He's been missing companionship and while he loves Doggo he craves human affection. This isn't the way he would have pictured having someone in his arms but it will do for now at least.
"It's no problem, really. I just want to make sure you are okay. You can stay the night if you like even." Zack would probably enjoy that more then Lorenz would however, besides Zack didn't know that sometimes he snored.
no subject
There are many people that would be awkward or uncomfortable with such contact but Zack reminds him of Ferdinand or Raphael in that way he's eager to reach out, not a hint of uncertainty or even the very idea of something being awkward at all. So he simply offers Zack an apologetic sort of smile, fingers coming up to brush his hair back out of the way once more.
"I needn't impose that much, I assure you." A small shake of his head, cheeks flushing at the very idea of it. Sharing a tent with another man? The scandal.
Ah but then how often has he spent his nights curled up against Khalid's chest? Scandalous indeed.
no subject
Zack brings the water back up for Lorenz to take another sip as the two growlithes play with each other. "Try another sip?"
no subject
"Not until we get back to Johto." A soft, shy smile up at him and he can't help thinking that he really should stop leaning on the man, violating his space like this, but Zack certainly seems to be encouraging it. "Thank you though. It means a lot, that you would be so helpful for a perfect stranger."
no subject
"If you don't mind staying here a little longer till we get this cough down a bit more I'll take you back to your tent. Sound like a deal?" He shifts Lorenz a little higher up to get a bit of a better air flow through him but otherwise he keeps them where they are.
