You know, I was under the impression that I'd taught my Pokémon to keep their word whenever possible. Yet it seems I was wrong, and now I've to deal with this thankfully small pile of eggs.


[The pile in question is, by any regular standards, enormous, but the years have long twisted Cecil's sense of scale when it comes to such matters. Still, Rosie the Clefable does look almost worried as she pats each egg in turn, and Cecil himself looks like he's battling a headache.]


If any of the available species catch your eye, feel free to buy an egg or two. Considering the circumstances and our... need to revise our agreement, I cannot promise they'll be available during our usual summer clutch, or even in the foreseeable future.


[Rosie turns away from the pile just long enough to shrug at the camera. Their trainer is a softy, there's no way he won't let them have their regular summer fun!]

I've nearly one hundred and twenty Pokémon, by now, out of which only two have not reached the maximum level. I've been teaching them TM moves and visiting move tutors, too, to ensure they can use plenty of battle strategies and pass on as many moves to their children as possible.

[He cannot hide the pride in his voice when he talks about his team, but then again he's not actually trying.]

Not that you'll get to benefit from that, sadly. For some reason, Pokémon that breed with Ditto transmit no moves at all to their offspring, no matter how many they know.

A hundred and twenty...I only have fifteen--well, sixteen, once that egg hatches. How long have you been here? Have you beaten the Elite Four?

Sixteen is a very good start! It took me more than twelve years to catch this many, but I already had more than half of them when I joined the Aurora League, five and a half years ago.

[Will his upbeat tone compensate for the sheer horror of finding out that people can get stuck here for over a decade? Maybe, maybe not.

It masks what exactly he's feeling from that introduction, though, and that's good enough.]

That can’t be right. Cloud can’t stay here for over a decade. What about becoming SOLDIER? What about keeping his promise to Tifa? …what if Zack disappears?

Fear not. Cases such as mine are terribly uncommon, though there are still two people who have been here longer than I.

[This may be cold comfort, considering that the possibility still exists, but it's the only comfort he can offer.]

I've... Have you heard about the comas that sometimes afflict us? People fall asleep for a week, and wake up with new memories... I've gone through two of those, over the years. It's not quite the same as truly going home, but it did allow me to see my loved ones again. And there's always the chance people from our own worlds will arrive next.
