New Fish.]
What pokemon is that? I've never seen one before in my life.

My gear tells me it is a 'Veluza'. My observations of behaviour tell me that it is some sort of shark that can wield rudimentary mind magic
Though for what reason I cannot fathom. More efficient hunting perhaps

If I can ask, is it a single typed pokemon or is it a dual type?
no subject
Apart from this. It is hard enough to handle as is. I hope it does not grow up into anything else though I have little choice in the matter
It is a dual type I believe. So the gear tells me
[ Also not pictured: despite Kimmuriel's somewhat harsh words about its behaviour he is still distracting it with sticks and spare bits and pieces and affection. ]

Though I have to admit that, perhaps selfishly, I hope you won't. I'm really interested in seeing if this pokemon has another evolutionary stage, and if so, what it might be. Aquatic pokemon are a bit of an interest of mine.

It would be a loss of information to stunt its potential growth for my own comfort
I will manage
You studied aquatic creatures before you came to this plane then?
To have such an interest

The ocean was always a fascination of mine, even back in my world, but I had never seen it before coming here.
In fact, most people where I grew up didn't know something like the ocean existed.
The only reason I knew is because my grandfather had a forbidden book.

Away from the ocean?
That is not so uncommon though I do not know what good it does to deny things like the ocean exist
Where I was born we knew the surface world only as a myth we had left long ago
Many of my kind would only ever visit it once and no more

And in our case, the reason they lied to us about what existed outside of our walls was to control us.
Our previous king had even gone as far as to manipulate the memories of those living inside the walls so we did not remember how we had come to live there in the first place.
I did not know this at the time. I learned a lot about my world during my time here, but it turned out that everything we were taught was a lie.
We had been taught that we were the only people living in the world, and that the world outside of the walls was too dangerous to exist in.
Perhaps this was, in some way, his way of trying to protect us, but personally I feel it was wrong to deny us a choice in this matter.
And in the end, it didn't keep us safe anyway.
Surface world? You live underground then?
no subject
I was born underground yes
In my case the dangers of it are no lie
It is a maze of tunnels that can only be traversed not civilized
...
Denying your peoples freedom in order to rule them is a pitiful act
They must have been desperate to maintain power
[ It is a testament to the last hundred or so years of his life that he can even muster the effort to describe it as that much. He knows that if things had turned out differently, he would have accepted the cruelty as simply a way of life - even his due, in some cases. ]
You are free now in your own plane?

Much of what I just told you wasn't something we knew at that time.
But from talking with others from my world who arrived here from much further into the future than me, it seems there will be a lot of changes yet to come.
Though it'll still be a few years from my perspective.
