018 - Starytube Stream
[First of all, there's a link posted on the Pokegear network from one Dimitri Alexandre Blaiddyd. As in, literally posted, you might have to copy paste it into the address bar? He's doing his best, bless him.]
Gremlin is doing streams for charity on his channel. Please support him. Thank you.
[And those who follow the link will find a stream shortly starting up on Staryutube, for a user called DABrat! Gremlin the Rattata is set up on, like.... so many little cushions on what looks like a tried and true gamer's chair, squeaking happily as Dimitri gingerly makes sure his little Rattata-sized headset is fit on perfectly.]
[Did you know that they make headphones just for Rattata? Now you do!]
[With that done with, Gremlin excitedly waves both of his tiny little rat hands up at the camera, and Dimitri smiles as well.]
Hello again, everyone. Gremlin has decided to make this month's series of streams very special. Since it is October, he has thought that he would do a horror game playthrough every day. All donations he gets from these streams will go right to charity!
[Gremlin gestures ENTHUSIASTICALLY.]
[....Behind both Dimitri and Gremlin, in the neon-lit gloom from the rest of the room, a shape begins to form, with the faint red glow of eyes towering there in the shadows.]
For those who managed to send their donations in during specified times, they will even get to put forth what horror game that they would like to see Gremlin play. He has managed to amass a bit of a collection just for this month, and we are also not afraid to buy things if they are readily available.
[The mysterious shadowy figure slowly fades away. Dimitri and Gremlin remain none the wiser.]
Chat, you know that you must behave as is proper while we finish setting up, and then we will be taking the first suggestions!
[ooc: WELCOME TO GREMLIN'S HALLOWEEN CHARITY STREAM please ignore the chat and what they say about Dimitri, because he sure is
Basically how this will work is that you can assume that - so long as they donated! - your character can suggest whatever horror game they like for Gremlin to play, and that can be threaded out to varying degrees! Alternatively, they can just comment and chill as Gremlin plays games with Dimitri there to offer commentary, and make sure his rat is doing well.
This will basically happen for long hours during all of October, so you can have your character comment whenever. This also ensures anyone can suggest whatever game and be guaranteed Gremlin will play it.
Suggested games can be completely made up, or Poke-parodies of actual horror games. If you're having trouble thinking of them, I have a whole spreadsheet of various horror games that you can riff off of.
Happy October!]

[Cue break in the gameplay for Dimitri to reach over to pat Gremlin as his little Rat makes it past that harrowing Red Light Green Light section to start nosing about in a room with some... very nice music in it, Dimitri decides.]
But he is like this even when he is off camera.
[Rats have so much to say]
no subject
Nice music here by the way.
no subject
[scritch scritch scritch]
[But while Gremlin pokes around at some of the things around, picking up more things to put into his charming little inventory case, Dimitri nods.]
You know, when Gremlin has played games before, I have noticed that there are spaces with considerably more soothing music than the rest of the game. This is a save room, as they call it, yes?
no subject
no subject
[Because it drowns out their own nonstop BGM - ]
[I mean what]
[But Gremlin only does a little save and squeak in delight at the timecards that come out, before he's off again! Back where he started! This time, however, he finally remembers to duck into the door that was being guarded. And within, a nice little backstage area...]
What is that, there?
[What a strange little doodad!]
[...Dimitri has seen a gun, like, once in his life, and that was a bb gun at a festival.]
no subject
Honestly hearing something more dire in the world here has been really useful.
...Oh. A weapon?
no subject
[But there's no time to really think about that, because suddenly there's banging on the door, and so many of those colorful and toy-like character! Gremlin smacks his hands on the keyboard a bit for the chat and the result is - night incoherent actually.]
[Understandable considering he immediately starts bouncing around and just immediately shooting with his new and cartoony gun! Which shoots out numbers it looks like! Do not ask him about this!]
[But maybe ask why he moves around so much in such an enclosed space, including getting onto the railing ledge. buddy slow down]
no subject
Hahah- Careful up there Gremlin!
no subject
[....So, in other news, he might have fallen off a railing. The game isn't meant to be an action shooter, after all, despite that apparently being how Gremlin lives his life.]
[At least it seems to have confused the AI for a second as they have to turn around a bit to go down the stairs once more, and that's enough time for Gremlin to aim properly. A decent shot! Which ends in a cleared room, and a little Rattata throwing his hands up.]
[Dimitri claps politely.]
You should be more careful going ahead, Gremlin.
[It is debatable if Gremlin has heard, because he's already nyooming back ahead. HE REMEMBERS ROOMS.]

[Dimitri sounds just a little worried.]
[In contrast, Gremlin could not be more excited.]
NEWGOALFORSTREAM
LETSBREAKIT
[This will definitely be so fine and not a problem at all.]
[Although hey - at least Gremlin seems perfectly happy to keep forging straight ahead, even if that means jumping into a very cute and fun little - well, enormous, actually - stage area that is very clearly a fake neighborhood!]
[Except for the many puppets. And the very big puppet.]
[The Rattata prey drive seems to finally click into place, however, because that's sure Gremlin trying to scurry into one of the fake buildings. And not being able to get into the fake building. On account of it being, like, super fake.]
OH
WEDEADNOW
no subject
...
Haha, oh! Movie sets! Right!
goodluck-
[It's gonna be fine Gremlin, you've got this]
no subject
[This means lots of time spent staring at all of them as he moves, which Dimitri also gets to witness. Yet as he's watching... He tilts his head slowly to the side, feeling a peculiar sense of deja vu watching the giant puppet stomp forward so suddenly and poking around things with the beak.]
...Oh. You know, it almost feels as though that creature cannot see right.
no subject
(You know, come to think, it reminds me of that weird Zapdos from prom too...)
no subject
YOUTHINKSO?????????
IWILLLOOKTHEN
GONNADOABRAVERY
[With that, Gremlin tries to get a closer look at the large puppet.... only to get his attention diverted when he gets the attention of one of the many little puppets.]
[hold on, just, gotta, gotta bang bang, hold - ]
[Attempt 2]
[This one is a little more successful, although Gremlin has to scurry out of the way of that big ol' body. Still, it does make it clear that the head seems rather less adorned than it should be!]
[Dimitri nods slowly.]
That does explain things... I possess the good luck to still have one eye, but even the loss of its partner changed a great deal for me. It is embarrassing to admit, but... My perception was off for many months after that. Even when I arrived here, it didn't feel wholly right.
Poor thing...
[He can't really feel scared of it when it's like that.]
no subject
[Said after he finally gets there. Emporio takes in the conversation though, humming before he types his next message.]
Things like this tend to be for a reason...so maybe you can help them?
no subject
[While Gremlin fiddles with things like strange food clocks for a subway shop, Dimitri hums.]
It would be nice if we could indeed help her... Monsters in tales are not often given anything to do so. At least, in the tales that I know.
no subject
It might even literally be eyes.
no subject
...I understand that they are rather toy-like in ways, but the idea of finding a large pair of eyes is still somewhat disconcerting.
[Like what is that... going to look like...]
[It's an answer they might find sooner than later, considering that Gremlin starts getting pretty high up, only to pause as he looks upon a box with a sub topping depicted on the front of it.]
HOLDHOLDHOLD
SAWTHAT
LETSGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BACK
[TIME TO BACK TRACK all the way to the little fake restaurant he was in to start with. Time to fiddle with the clock again and race all the way back!! Although he is a little low on ammo, so... Let him just. run around a little.]
no subject
And oh-
OHH- OH!]
Oh!
That's really neat...I think I saw another box with another ingredient marking on it too- that's clever, huh.
no subject
[Gremlin looks up at Dimitri.]
[Dimitri looks down at Gremlin.]
[ . . . ]
Gremlin, we are not getting such a locking system for the home.
[Oh, the squeak of despair... At least he has video games to comfort him as he wiggles back to the clock in the sub shop, spinning it around with much gusto before returning to find... ammo!!!]
WE'REBACKINBUSINESS
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AMMOBXOES
I wonder if they all have ammo...
no subject
Or maybe even the eyes.
[They were All Wrong, it was puzzle letters,]
no subject
[Which is a surprise to Gremlin, certainly, judging by his little gobsmacked rat face, but at least the little puzzle keeps him distracted for a while. Still, that does leave the question...]
I wonder where the eyes are, then... If they were not in the boxes, then surely they must be somewhere.
On the roofs, perhaps?
no subject
Maybe it's connected to that puzzle then?
[That's his best guess anyway.]
