[Swatting them away is almost becoming a battle now, as Kain is still trying to get away the ones circling him. He glances at Cecil.]

They're certainly... persistent.

Were they on our side, that would be a most admirable quality.

[Right now, it's just a pain. Even Rosie is starting to show some annoyance.]

[One more dives in to try and sting, and Kain tries to fend it off, growling as it gets him.]

Where did so many of these creatures come from, anyway? They're everywhere...

[And worse than any regular bees he's ever seen.]

There should not be that many in Celadon, but I imagine the smell of the food called them from afar. That, or the usual madness of these days.

[Dinner and a show, almost for free. He wonders if they think the punches are worth it.]

And is there no known method for getting rid of them?

[Besides inefficiently swatting at them, anyway.]

Fire.

[He has never missed Rydia and Palom more, and he actively misses them at least three times a week.]

A shame we have none of that between us... where's a black mage when we need one?

[Yep, same thoughts running through Kain's mind, there's no more efficient way to get a fire going.]

Not here, that's for- Flare, what are you doing?

[He's aiming Flamethrowers at the bees, that's what he's doing. The presence of humans among the bees is a secondary concern.]

Well... that's certainly one way to get rid of them. We did say we wanted fire...

[Not quite in that way, but still.]

I did not think I needed to ask for controlled, carefully aimed fire!

[As far as Flare is concerned, though, if Cecil wants better fire he'll have to breathe it himself. Aiming at flying bees is hard!]

But it's just what we needed, isn't it?

[Kain busies himself with swatting away more of the pesky bees, trying to keep them from getting in his face, or worse, into his hair. It's quite the annoying thing to deal with.]

Is there no end to them?

Just as much as there is an end to Mount Ordeals' undead population.

[His tone would be very dramatic, if he wasn't hissing at the closest bee at the same time.]

[Kain continues swatting the air, a sense of dread overcoming him when Cecil mentions his oh so favorite place and his oh so favorite class of enemy... Oh god did it get tedious fighting them, every single day.]

Wonderful. And zombies have come to hold a special place in my heart... the part that loathes things, that is.

That particular part is being quite overused these, days, I'd bet. You should let it rest a little.

[Maybe walk down to the chocobo forest at the foot of the mountain. Chocobos are nice, and they don't try to kill people.]

Believe me, I would do anything for a little variety up there. The undead are boring, and they smell...

Please, do not speak of smells. My yard is invaded by sentient poisonous sludge often enough, I'd rather not be reminded that it could be worse.

The terrible thing is that I've almost become desensitized to it, with only the undead as company for so long...

[Yeah wow, Kain really needs to get off that damn mountain, he's getting used to chilling out among skeletons and zombies all the time, help.]

But foul-smelling, sentient sludge? I take it that these are worse than dealing with flan...

The zombies come with a slight burnt aroma the account lacks, though.

For worse, and without even the hope of earning some delicious pudding if we win. Not that I'd eat pudding pried from a Grimer's corpse...

No, I can't say that sounds at all appealing, even after a long while of being on the road and eating whatever you can manage to hunt.

Which is great for zombies! Not so much for accounts.

I'd rather try my luck with the berries, if only because their unpleasant side effects are well-documented. Such a pudding could do anything if I ate it.

These berries have no magical affects on the one who eats them? That's... rather fortunate. There's nothing worse than spending a few hours unexpectedly as some animal...

Magical they may not be, but hallucinations and arthritic pains are never pleasant. neither are fevers or swollen throats, for that matter.

That sounds like a terrible ordeal to go through... all the more reason to be wary of unfamiliar plants, then.

[Unfamiliar anything, really. He can imagine it taking a lot of time to learn what's actually edible on a new world.]

And that's without taking into account the ones that are sentient and willing to fight back.

[Those Tropius bananas are worth the fight, though.]
