ACTION: ROUTE 29
[there's a knocked out pidgey on the ground near a campfire. Robert himself is sitting at the fire itself, fiddling with a stick, which he'd planned to use to spit the damn thing... his tepig, Orys, is snuffling around the pidgey, ]
Still alive, looks like. Rather a strong thing, isn't it? You've given it a hell of a beating!
[he sighs dramatically.] Well, looks like we'll have to find something else for our dinner-- What? [Orys is nudging the pidgey and looking at Robert expectantly.] You can still eat it if you'd like, I suppose...
[this is not entirely effective person-pokemon communication.]
NETWORK
[the post is later that night, probably later than most reasonable people would still be awake.]
Why can't you eat 'em? [if it sounds like he just woke up from a deep sleep and felt the urge to immediately ask that question-- well, it's because he did.]

I tried to snare a Bunnelby for dinner my first week here. My little Pinsy did a number on my face when she caught me. [The Skitty in question looks up from his lap and into the camera with a frighteningly intelligent posture of pride.]
You just can't, really. There are a lot of bizarre "rules" like that to this world.
audio
Bloody hells, that would be the sort of place I'd end up, wouldn't it? A world of fantastic beasts, of great strength and beauty, and I'm not able to hunt a damned one.
Suppose I'll have to find another sort of sport to occupy my time.
[VIDEO --> AUDIO]
If that's your idea of fun, you can make them hunt other Pokemon, at least. Sort of. They like to fight one another. Still no killing, though.

Why would a man wish to eat anything, lad?
audio
Hungry, I guess. But these guys are a little different. It's not like they're not...
[ hold on. Sora's thinking of the word. ]
Sentient? Have their own thoughts and feelings?

Well, all arguments about eating intelligent beings aside, pokemon are apparently quite impossible to harm by anything other than other pokemon.
And as far as I understand, allowing your own to kill and eat others is one of the few things rather strictly looked down upon in this world.
audio like fuck
okay, so this is definitely a dragon. damn, and he'd been hoping for a fine afterlife without any-- ah, but he's suspecting he's in a hell in the first place, isn't he? figures.
he hasn't got the eyes, though. perhaps he's a bastard line. they generally avoid the madness.
... shit, he's been quiet for too long.] I'd like to see them try to stop me from doing whatever I damned well please!
permavid because he can't be bothered to change it :D
I believe the pokemon themselves are generally more than capable of stopping someone from trying such things, anyway.
what torture...
he uses video because he MEANS to be polite and let people see who they're talking to, but...

I understand the whole hunting for survival thing but eating these creatures would be like eating a dolphin. Or uh... [An animal that everyone has been around.] Uh... dog. Like eating a dog. Don't eat dogs.
They're really intelligent and good companions. I also don't think you can kill them. This world is a little wonky. I haven't actually put that theory to the test though...

... Now, not eating is one thing, but not killing? A creature that can't die sounds rather unholy to me.

There's pokémon cemeteries and graveyards so eventually these guys do kick it. But I think they do it on their own terms.

Because killing Pokémon and eating their flesh is physically impossible, and attempting to do so is likely to get you arrested. We are expected to survive on that initial lunch until we reach Cherrygrove, as even eating wild berries can be dangerous to humans.
aggressively audio
Don't see how they expect any grown man to do that without starving! That paltry snack will barely get me through the day, let alone three!

[This guy actually made Snake smile. Perhaps it was the fact that he wanted to eat the Pokémon. Snake had eaten random shit in his time....snakes, crocodiles, insects. The man's question was pretty normal.]
Guess this world doesn't want you eating all the Pokémon so there's nothing left.

[Except for the odd PokéDex entry. Some of those happen to be enlightening.]
When you consider that the world's designed for small children though I guess it makes sense, but if people don't think kids are bloodthirsty little fuckers, they're the wrongest.

... You're half making me want to avoid the meat here, lad. [half bc lol like he's gonna actually stop.]
