Event: The Reveal Glass

Across the Pokémon world, characters may have spotted a falling star last night. Or at least, one would think that's what it was: a naturally occurring phenomenon, rather than a legendary artifact. Specifically, the Reveal Glass fell to earth during a fight among a group of legendaries started by the return of a long-lost family member. But it's probably best to leave them to handle all that themselves, while your characters deal with other consequences.

The Reveal Glass shattered upon impact, and the shards scattered throughout Kanto, Johto, and the Sevii Islands… And made their way into the hearts of your characters. But bleeding isn't the concern here. Instead, the impact will hit when a character first looks into any reflective service. An eerie feeling hits them as they're transported to the Mirror Dimension.

While this realm can be many different things for different characters, one thing is always true: It is a place of honesty, where true selves are revealed. Those struck by a shard will find themselves facing truths they are no longer able to hide, and now must accept. Fortunately enough, even those who haven't been struck will be able to enter the Mirror Dimension during this event via a reflective surface to offer help. By the end of the 29th, things will return to normal. Characters will be back in the usual Pokémon world and their hearts will be rid of the shards, but time is strange in the Mirror Dimension, and the experience may feel like it goes on far longer than a day. Or, maybe that's just the emotional exhaustion.

The Reveal Glass plot is here. You can swing by the event info post for additional details and FAQ, and play out your characters’ enforced therapy on this post. As with most VR events, this plot is entirely optional and your characters don't need to take part at all.

"Yeah," Radley sighs. "He threatened them and they joined him because I'd lost to him. I guess they didn't think they had any hope of beating him when I couldn't."

He stares off into the distance. "Was Kalin my friend? I kept trying to reach out to him, but he always rejected me. Then he and Yusei left me here.... I shouldn't still care about him, should I? I feel so betrayed. And yet ... I do still care about him. I even named one of my first Eevees after him."

He looks to Harry in concern. "I don't want you to hurt yourself...."

“I don’t think that they would have abandoned you this easily. Even if they were forced to be with your rival from you losing to him, it is very possible that they haven’t forgotten about you one bit. Maybe they are planning to escape his grasp over them right now so they can come back to find you at the cost of enraging him. Believe me, I had moments when I have fears of being left alone without no one else by my side.”

Harry knows what is it like to feel abandoned: most of his maternal relatives were horrible to him, the stresses he went through as he grew older messed his head, and the heavy weigh of fame and a prophecy looming over his head made him feel more isolated.

“Don’t worry about me. You need to recover from whatever injuries, physical or otherwise, that rival had inflicted upon you. By the way, are you still able to walk normally? I have a feeling that the mine might very difficult to navigate.”

Radley smiles sadly. "It's a nice thought, anyway."

He sighs and looks around the tunnel. "I can walk. This place ... I still see it many times in my dreams." He runs his hand along the wall as he moves forward. "I replay it over and over ... stumbling down here, trying so hard to get out ... the place where I collapsed, dying...." He goes ahead a bit to an area streaked with blood. "I couldn't go on any more. And I'd lost all hope. I just closed my eyes ... and gave up."

Harry sighs as he tries to lighten up the mood, “Hey, you can’t give up trying to get out of a dark place like this. It may be hard to escape a mine but it is not that impossible. Sometimes it can be difficult to walk in the darkness or, in this case, a mine alone and that we might need a friend to carry each other through. Maybe I can get my torch for us to use so it will make navigating this mine a little easier to do.”

Harry brings out a flashlight (or a torch as the English would call them) and turns it on to lighten up the way and hopefully try to find a way out of this horrible place.

"I didn't give up because it was hard to find the way out," Radley says. "I gave up because I'd been brutally beaten, my shock collar was still shocking me worse and worse every time it activated, and I'd been abandoned. It felt like there was no reason to even keep fighting to live." He smiles wanly. "If I'd had even one person back then, I would have fought with all my might to live.

"Somehow I survived, but the scars are still there on my heart."

He smiles more as Harry stays and brings out his flashlight. "Thank you for coming for me, and staying."

A bit of light shines at the end of the tunnel.

Harry could see how much damages, or rather, injuries can do on a person: The shock collar did some number on Radley for sure as he tries to look around for a less dangerous path, the light from the torch being their guiding light towards a tunnel’s end. The feeling of getting beaten up so badly brings back to when Hermione was getting brutally tortured by Bellatrix in Malfoy Manor.

The amount of torment she went through and the damn words craved into her hand are still etched into his mind. He clearly didn’t see those things happened to his best friend when he ended up in Hisui and reunited with her. Being from different timepoints didn’t help matters much.

“That is understandable. A lot of scars will take a long time to heal, I had plenty of them happened to me for a long time and not all of them haven’t healed up fully to this day.”

The mistreatment from his uncle and aunts, unwanted amounts of fame beyond what he can imagine, the years of bullying Dudley had previously thrown at him, the intense rivalry he had with Malfoy as kids, Snape’s harsh words, the weight of the prophecy over his head, being the target of slander and bullying despite being right on many things, harassment from schoolmates and adults alike: those are the ones that he can’t merely shake off for one reason or another. Physical or otherwise, these things don’t simply go away.

“You’re welcome anytime. I’ll do what I can to help anyone out in a pinch. Just can’t simply leave someone alone in such a rough patch.”

Radley's fear of Electric Pokemon is a result of the torture he suffered. He also hates to be alone, something he felt before but feels even more strongly now.

"I'm sorry you've also had so much sorrow and heartache," he says softly. "I will always be here for you, as you are now for me."

The light at the end of the tunnel grows wider.

"I felt alone here a lot of the time too. But now I'm not."

“That’s okay. The painful stuff may not heal right away but I do hope to work on slowly recovering from the pain over time. Hey, that is what friends are for: They always help and stick with each other through the good and the bad even when things go grim,” Harry gives him a reassuring smile as the light at the end of the tunnel becomes bigger as they approach it.

"Yeah. That's all we can really do," Radley says.

He steps into the light and they're in Goldenrod City, surrounded by happy Eevees. The shock collar falls off and disappears. Radley straightens, looking around in awe before bending to pick up some of the Eevees.

"Thank you," he says to Harry.

Whoa! This change in scenery really blows Harry’s mind indeed. Regardless of how or what happened from navigating an unsafe mine to being back to Goldenrod City, it is a nice change that is much needed. Seeing the Eevees coming for them is always tugging on his heartstrings whenever he gets to meet them.

“You’re very much welcomed, Radley,” Harry nods in relief as he speaks.

Some of the Eevees rub Harry in greeting too.

Radley smiles. He is at peace now. He will probably go try to help some of the others who must still be stranded in their darkest thoughts and feelings.

Harry couldn’t help wanting to pet each and every one of the Eevees as they come to greet him as well. They are so happy to see that he and Radley have come back from the Mirror Dimension and he is just as glad to see that his friend is now at peace. He isn’t sure if there are any other people who need his help to find peace but, if there is any one out there, he will go find them within a heartbeat.

“Oh hey guys! It’s great to see you guys again.”

The Eevees warble happily.

Radley smiles as he holds several of them. "Thank you," he says sincerely again.

“You’re more than welcome anytime, my friend. What matters right now is that we got back to this world safely and things should get back to normal eventually.”

"Yeah." Radley frowns a bit. "I'm probably not the only one in trouble, judging by how these things go. I'd probably better see if anyone else needs help."

“It sounds like that other people were dragged into this mess as well,” Harry nods in agreement, “I’m also going to try to find some more people and see if I can try to help them out too. We just can’t leave them to be stuck in that dimension on their own.”

Radley nods. "Okay then. Good luck to both of us." He smiles.

“Same here as well. Let’s go out there and see what we can do for everyone still trapped in.”

Radley hugs his Eevees and sets them down. "We'll hopefully be back soon," he tells them, and prepares to re-enter the mirror dimension with Harry.

“Are you ready to get back to the dimension and help some people to get out of there?” Harry asks Radley as they both face the dimension’s entrance head on.

"I hope so," Radley says. He wonders a bit if he'll be able to do much. What if he runs into people he doesn't really know? People who don't trust him? How will he possibly help them?

He's still willing to try, though.

"We'll probably end up in different places when we pass through," he says. "So ... maybe we can meet up when it's all over."

“Yeah, that would be a good idea. I have a feeling that we’ll have to split up on the way there to find anyone in there since the dimension is likely to take the shape of whatever internal problems they have to deal with in their worlds, depending on who is trapped inside.”

"Yeah, that's definitely what happened to me," Radley says. "And we probably can't use our Gears to communicate since we'll need to focus on the people's problems. So ... be careful in there."
